FAYRENE SEXTON

Fayrene Sexton, 85, of Ferguson, KY went to be with The Lord on Monday, June 27, 2022. She was born May 10, 1937, to the late Frank and Pearl Shadoan Smith.

She was married to Patrick Earl Sexton on December 27, 1957 in Ferguson, KY. He preceded her in death in 2015.

She was a member of Ferguson Baptist Church and even once she could no longer attend in person she watched church services on television every Sunday. She always looked forward to special family times, especially with her granddaughters and great granddaughter.

Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two son-in-laws, Rodney Branum and Charles Luttrell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Marion, Troy, Glen, and Harold; her sisters Althene and Maxine, and her sister-in-law Sally Smith.

She is survived by her daughters, Christia Luttrell of Lexington and Karen Robinson (Roger); two granddaughters, Caitlyn Ann Brock (Daniel) and Kelsey Sottile (Eric); and one great granddaughter, Savannah Lee Brock. She is also survived by a brother Eugene Smith; a sister-in law Barbara Sexton and a brother-in-law Dallas Hafley; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. James Patrick Griffin officiating.

Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 11 AM Thursday, June 30, 2022 until time for services.

LARRY BRYANT

Larry E. Bryant, age 69, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Monday June 27th, 2022, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was born December 9th, 1952, in Casey County, KY, a son of the late James T. and Mary Jane Allen Bryant.

Larry was a former Correctional officer at NorthPoint and a former Security officer for the Casey Co. Sheriff’s Office.

Survivors include: His Spouse: Pamela Farris Bryant, One Son: Larry Nicholas Bryant of Liberty, Three Step Children: Jeffrey and (Angela) Farris, Amy and (Donovan) Goode and Kimberly and (Andrew) Luttrell all of Liberty, Eleven Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren, Three Brothers: Thomas and (Linda) Bryant and Dennis and (Ruth) Bryant both of Liberty and Danny and (Martha) Bryant of Louisville and One Sister: Ella and (Jr.) Perkins of Bradfordsville.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was One Son: Marcus Lynn Bryant.

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Thursday June 30th, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday July 1st, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Creech Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Whited Cemetery.

JAMES HEATH

James Parker Heath, age 89, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his children. 

James was born on April 5, 1933 in Somerset, KY to the late Theodore Heath and Audrey Hill Heath.  He was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church and a former Mason in Walton Verona, KY.  He enjoyed mowing, building things, classic cars and attending car shows.  James loved his boats and going to Florida to fish.

He is survived by two sons, Scott (Susan) Heath of Somerset and Jim (Karen) Heath of Lafollette, TN; two daughters, Jeanne Heath (David) East of Gastonia, N.C. and Becky Heath (Lonnie Dale) Williams of Webster, KY; two brothers, Bill (Julie) Heath and Larry (Janet) Heath both of Somerset; two sisters, Joanne Goff of Sparta, TN and Betty Goff of Russell Springs, KY; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Lonnie, Miranda, Ashley M., Jason and Ashley R.; nine great-grandchildren, Jillian, Melody, Taylor, Reese, Piper, Danger, Austin, Jackson and Allison; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Whiles Heath, whom he married on December 24, 1955 in Somerset and she preceded him on January 18, 2021; and two brothers, Theodore Jr. Heath and Lloyd Heath. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 9:00am until 11:00am at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will follow on Friday at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Carr officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.  Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

PATRICIA TURNER

Patricia “Greatie” Turner of Liberty, KY formerly Miamisburg, Ohio passed away on June 24 th 2022 at the
Casey County Hospital. She was 89 years young. She was born February 6, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio a
daughter to the late Carl Jones and Edith Zetella.

Pat was an entrepreneur, she operated a custom drapery business for years. Pat was employed by the
Miamisburg Ohio School District where she retired as a kitchen manager. Greatie also managed the
morning shift at Better Bodies Health and Fitness Center in Liberty, KY.

Survivors include : Three brothers: Scott Jones (Barbara), Idaho. Terry Jones (Darlene), San Antonio,
Texas. Todd Jones (Janice), Moraine, Ohio. One son Mike Turner, Georgia. One granddaughter Becky
Gray , Denver, Colorado. Two grandsons: Dr. Michael Turner II (Erica), Liberty, Kentucky and Eric
Turner, Raleigh , North Carolina. Two special great grandchildren: Guy Michael and Ramsie Kate Turner,
Liberty, Kentucky.
Preceding her in death were her husband of nearly 60 years Don Turner. One son Donnie Turner. A
sister Dixie Freeders and two brothers Bob Jones and Jim Jones.

In keeping with Pat’s loving, giving and feisty spirit, she chose to gift her body to the University of
Kentucky Medical College for the advancement of medical education and healthcare.
There will be a private memorial service for family members and close friends on July 9 at 1 pm at the
Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Jimmy Brown will be officiating. In lieu of flowers Greatie
requested donations be given to the First Baptist Church building fund or The Casey County Hospital for
new wallpaper border in the patient rooms.

WILLIAM BROWN

William Thomas ‘Tommy” Brown, of Elkhorn, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at his home.  He was 61 years of age.

Tommy was born February 14, 1961, in Campbellsville, KY, son of the late William Rollin and Mary Arlene Wethington Brown.  He was a retired truck driver for Wolford and Wethington.  Tommy spent three years in the Army National Guard.  In younger years, he attended the Catholic church, but in recent years, Tommy attended a Baptist church. 

Tommy could make anyone smile.  He would give the shirt off his back and would do anything he could for anyone.  He loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Matthew (and Katie) Brown, of Lebanon; his daughters, Christy (and Jimmy) Spence, of Inez, and Julie Burke, of Prestonsburg; his step-son, Charles Perry, of Campbellsville; his brothers, William Dean Brown, Richard Eugene Brown, Micheal Lee Brown, and Donald Glenn Brown; his sisters, Sharlene Becker, Beverly Gail Kuhn, Darlene Burton, Melinda Sue Burke, Marsha Kay Brown, Deborah Louise Evans, and Bridgett Nicole Rucker; and his grandchildren, Jackson, Tabor, Kadia, Daniel, Micheal, Christina, AraBella, Kylie, Sarah, Carson, and Jasmyn.

Along with his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald Lynn Brown, James Steven Brown, Mark Anthony Brown, Wilbur Ray Brown, and Danny Wethington; and his sisters, Mary Alene Hayes and Carolyn Mae Brown.

Funeral Mass is 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, in Clementsville, with Father George Otuma officiating.  Burial will follow in Gum Lick Cemetery.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Casey County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, then on Monday, June 27, from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.  On Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., visitation will be held again at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, then proceed to St. Bernard for funeral mass.

PEGGY HUTSON

The long and full life of Peggy Joyce Bowling Hutson began on December 26, 1928 and was completed peacefully on June 24, 2022. Peggy was born in Corbin, KY to Mollie Pemberton and David Grant Bowling, who preceded her in death. She married Willard Henry Hutson and happily and capably managed their nomadic life together as a military family, living and serving in varied American and European cities, until his death in 1975. They had two sons, Rick (Esther) Hutson of Luthersville, GA and Bruce (Julie) Hutson of Columbus, OH, who survive. Peggy is also survived by her sister Geraldine Hardgrove, brother James Bowling, grandchildren Matt (Yadhyra) Hutson, Jeremy (Katie)Hutson, Kurt (Nice)Hutson, Taylor Martin, step-grandchildren Robert (Haley) Martin, Greg Martin, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Peggy is also survived by her loving companion, Bob McNeill and his family.

Funeral services are Monday, June 27, 2022 at 2:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL. The family will receive visitors an hour before the funeral. Burial is Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY.

In lieu of flowers the family invites memorial gifts to Meals on Wheels at the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center.

RONDALL BRAY

Rondal Scott Bray, age 64, of Bronston, KY, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Rondal was born on May 20, 1958 in Somerset, KY to the late Dewey Bray and Lola Pence Bray.  He retired from the military serving fourteen years in the Air Force as an Electronic Technician in Nuclear Weapons and eight years in the Army as a Recruiter.  Rondal was an ordained minister and he loved to preach.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Wilmouth Gaines Bray of Bronston; one sister, Melissa (Ritchie) Spaw of Somerset; two sisters-in-law, Doris (Ronnie) Crabtree of Eubank and Glenda Lee Griffin of Somerset; one brother-in-law, Dwayne (Sally) Gaines of Nancy; two uncles, Norman Bray of OH and Lowell Bray of TN; two nephews, Chase Spaw and Lofton Spaw; one niece, Braydyn Spaw; and several cousins and nieces and nephews, including Eddie (Daisy) Glover and Mike Jewell.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Lola Bray; and his father and mother-in-law, Leo and Thelma Gaines.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

ANCIL VANOY

Ancil Curtis Vanoy, age 90, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday June 22nd, 2022, at his residence. He was born April 24th, 1932, in Casey County, KY, a son of the late George “Bill” and Rosa Frances King Vanoy.

Ancil was the widower of Evelen Cochran Vanoy who passed away on November 3rd, 2014.

Ancil was a carpenter and farmer.

Survivors include: Two Sons: Gerald and (Angela) Vanoy of Summersville, S.C., and Jeff and (Cynthia) Vanoy of Liberty, One Daughter: Sandy Porter of Liberty, Four Grandchildren: Curtis Gerald Vanoy Jr, Brian Matthew Vanoy, Douglas Adam Porter and Tracey Lynn Porter, Nine Great Grandchildren and Six Great Great Grandchildren.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and spouse was One Daughter: Patricia Vanoy, One Granddaughter: Mendy Vanoy, Two Brothers: Ernest and Hollis Vanoy and Five Sisters: Mamie Allen, Hazel Allison, Lillian Craft, Lois Brown, and Chelsie Followell.

JACKI STIGALL

Jacki Stigall, age 49, of Monticello, KY, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at UK Healthcare in Lexington.

Jacki was born on December 9, 1972 in Lexington, KY to Calvin Bell and the late Beverly Beasley Bell.  She loved working in her flower garden.  Jacki was a Christian who enjoyed witnessing to other people.  She was a very spiritual lady and loved reading her Bible. 

She is survived her father, Calvin Bell; one son, Colton Stigall of Monticello; two daughters, Amber (Aaron) Carver of Texarkana, TX and Ashley (Skyler) DeCrane of Monticello; three grandchildren, Dylan Carver, Edwin Carver and Dove Dishman; one sister, Debbie (Jerry) Hardwick of Monticello; one aunt, Vickie (Billy) Ferguson of Carlisle, KY; one uncle, Norman (Jan) Bell of Cincinnati, OH; four nephews, Brandon Criswell, Austin Criswell, Jeremy Hardwick and Jordan Hardwick; and several cousins.

Along with her mother, Beverly Bell, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Stigall. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

STEVEN DAVIS

Steven Davis, age 66, of Ferguson, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Danville. 

Steven was born on February 3, 1956 in Detroit, MI to the late Bill Davis and Lisa Meece Davis.

He is survived by his children, Matthew (Kim) Davis of Pekin, IN, Mitchell Davis of Pekin, IN, Joshua Davis of Lexington, KY, Jasmine Davis of Jeffersonville, IN, Violet Davis of Madison Indiana, Roxanne Davis of Jeffersonville, IN, Christina and Harley Davis of Ferguson, KY; one sister, Tish Moneypenny of Jeffersonville, IN; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Tara Davis; and two daughters, Misty Davis and Bailey Haynes.

RACHEL REDMOND

Rachel Girdler Redmond made her way home to be with her Lord on June 21, 2022, at the age of 92, surrounded by family. Mom is rejoicing with Dad in heaven now.

Rachel had a servant heart and loved to cook for family and friends. She was an excellent cook and did so as head cook for the Nancy Elementary School many years before retirement. Rachel’s other life commitments were to her family and her church. Rachel cherished her family, and was affectionately called “Nanny” by all the Grands. Rachel was a member and served faithfully for many years and in numerous ways including teaching Sunday School at Chesterview Baptist Church until failing health wouldn’t allow.

Rachel was born July 1, 1929, in Somerset, KY to the late Benjamin and Angie Girdler. She married the love of her life, the late Caudie Redmond, March 5, 1945. They shared life together for 66 years and from that union was blessed with six children, Diana (and Dallas) Davis of Nancy, KY, Doris Simpson of Bronston, KY, Donna (and Allen) Johnson of Richmond, KY, Deborah Reynolds of Somerset, KY, Michael Redmond of Lexington, KY, and Marcus (and Shelly) Redmond of Knoxville, TN; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. Rachel leaves these along with one sister, Regina Godby to honor her memory.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Caudie Redmond; one sister, Mary Girdler; five brothers Charlie, Frank, Arthur, Ernest, and Cleo Girdler; and two granddaughters, Crystal Caudette Marcum and Samantha Redmond.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

A second visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Chesterview Baptist Church.  Her funeral service will follow on Friday at 11:00am at Chesterview Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Butte and Dr. James Floyd officiating.   Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Ina Rae Pettyjohn, age 83, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Monday June 20th, 2022, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born October 22nd, 1938, in Casey County, KY, a daughter of the late Oscar Lee Pettyjohn and Mayme C. Harrod Pettyjohn.

Ina was a secretary for Kentucky Utilities.

Survivors include: One Sister: Inez and (Bobby C.) Woodrum of Liberty, and Two Brothers: Oscar and (Josephine Pettyjohn Jr. of Midway and Leon Pettyjohn of Liberty.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was Three Brothers: Donald, Flem Dee and Hugh Pettyjohn and Three Sisters: Alma Cowell, Mildred Denney and Helen Reed.

Graveside Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday June 25th, 2022, at Glenwood Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.

REV THOMAS ADAMS

Rev. Thomas F. “Tommy” Adams, retired United Methodist minister, died on June 18, 2022 at the age of 82.

Tommy was born on October 18, 1939 in Somerset, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Somerset High School and Union College, and he received his Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. In his ministerial career, he served as Pastor to United Methodist churches in Simpsonville and Eminence, Kentucky, was Campus Director of the Methodist Children’s Home of Kentucky in Versailles, and a Pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Somerset during which time he was instrumental in establishing the Pulaski Emergency Relief Ministry. He was also an owner/operator of Buck Creek Marina on Lake Cumberland and Wolf River Marina on Dale Hollow Lake, and he was later Executive Director of Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

He was preceded in death by his parents James E. and Anna H. Adams and brothers Jimmy and Billy Frank.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Glenda, his three sons and their wives, Jeff (Joy), Jon (Paige), Jimmy (Sally), grandchildren Tyler, Austin, Emma, Ellie, and Finley, brother Eddie, and multiple in-laws, cousins, nieces and a nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22 at the First United Methodist Church in Somerset with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pulaski Emergency Relief Ministry, Inc. or the Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Homes.

RONDA CHILDRESS

Ronda Childress, age 50, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday June 17th, 2022, at the U. of L. Health-Jewish Hospital. She was born January 19th, 1972, in Nicholasville, KY, a daughter of the late Howard C. and Lucille Henson Richardson.

Ronda was the Activities Director at Grandview Nursing Home.

Survivors include: Her Spouse: Kevin Scott Childress, Two Sons: Timothy Scott Childress and his Fiancé (Amberly Luttrell) of Liberty and Allan Michael and (Nellie) Childress of Liberty, and Five Grandchildren: Whitley, Carly, Colton, Annistyn and Cason.

TENILLE KOMULAINEN

Tennille Leigh Komulainen, daughter of Jeff and Liz Leigh, was born on August 18, 1980 in Somerset, Kentucky. She departed this life on June 16, 2022 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee after a very brief illness. Her friends and family were by her side when she drifted off to be with the Lord.
From an early age, she embodied all the characteristics of beauty, both inside and out. Her big smile lit up every room she entered. She had the uncanny ability to make everyone she encountered feel like the most important person to her. Tennille exceled in both athletics and academics, graduating with honors from Somerset High School. She later pursued her two passions, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from Western Kentucky University and a Masters of Theology from Liberty University.
She met her husband Daryl in 2006 on a fated flight through Las Vegas. They bonded over a common love for A Christmas Story and the infamous leg lamp! They married in September of that year, and after several adventures with the Air Force in Tucson and Korea, finally settled down to have a family in Mississippi. Their daughter Campbell “Cami” Grace was born in May of 2012 and their son Kai Wyatt was born in April of 2015. She loved them with her entire being. It brought her joy beyond measure to spend her days with them while teaching at Columbus Christian Academy.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Homer and Clara Campbell and Carlos and Mildred Leigh. Tennille is survived by her husband, Daryl and their two children, Cami and Kai; her parents Jeff and Liz Leigh; brother Justin (Sarah) Leigh; beloved nephews, Blake, Hudson and Brooks; sister Sunshine (Gareth) Bates; nieces Cora and Airlia; in-laws Wes and Jerri Komulainen; sister-in-law Leslie Komulainen; nephew Jake Komulainen and niece Zoe Komulainen.
A host of extended family and “family by choice”…. Jon, Shelly, Shelby and Jonathan Harville, Kenny, Marie and Chad Smallwood, Fred, Ruth & Salome Stephens of Greystones, Ireland. Her best girlfriends since high school and sisters by choice, Ann Tuttle Cook, Robyn Holt Doiron, Jennifer Brown Compton and Allison Hahn Sobieck.

DONALD LAWLESS

Donald Ray Lawless, of Casey County, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Casey County Hospital. He was 65.

Born December 26, 1956, in Liberty, KY, he was a son of the late R.B. Lawless and Sylvia Mason Lawless. Donald was a farmer all of his life. He enjoyed coon hunting and fishing. Donald loved his grandkids.

Survivors include his son, Jessie (and Sheyenne) Lawless of Science Hill; daughters, Donna (and Johnnie) Howard of Liberty, Rhonda Lawless of Liberty, and Sandy (and Donald Wayne) Coffman of Moreland; brothers, Robert (and Judy) Lawless and Ronald (and Alice) Lawless, both of Liberty; 10 grandchildren, Wesley, Deanna, Christopher, Sylvia, Tina, Maddie, Katie, Letty, Levi, and Lilly; and 6 great-grandchildren, Jade, Malachi, Hayden, Octavia, Mariah, and Christopher.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, June 20, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-8PM at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

REBECCA FOSTER

Rebecca Jane Foster, 51, died at the Casey County War Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, of a long illness. Rebecca was born in Lexington on November 6, 1970, to Jerry Lee Foster and Vivian Sharleen Cochran Foster who survive.

Rebecca is also survived by: sister Alice Lenore Foster McCallum; nephew Luke Foster McCallum; niece Riley Jane McCallum; niece Margaret Vivian McCallum, (all of the Boston, Massachusetts, area); maternal aunt Patricia Jean Adams Ewing, Campbellsville, Kentucky; paternal uncle John Watkins Foster, Boca Raton, Florida; and cousins.

Rebecca was born with Down Syndrome. God’s mission for her was to teach about Down Syndrome and that each of us must work and contribute to our communities to the best of our abilities. After attending Liberty Elementary School and Casey County High School, Rebecca worked for twenty-five years at Casey County Library until her health began to fail. She served one term on the national board of the Down Syndrome Congress.
Rebecca was blessed with extended families at First Christian Church of Liberty, the staff of Casey County Library, the clients and staff of First Family Adult Day Care, and the staff of Casey County Hospital. With her positive personality, Rebecca became the daughter, sister, or friend of everyone who met her.

No public visitation or funeral service will be held. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery.

ALTA LARKINS

Lucille Larkins age 97 of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away June 14, 2022.

Lucille was born on August 9, 1924 in Bandy, KY, the daughter of the late Jimmie and Ethel Smith McWilliams.

Lucille was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. On April 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to Cecil Larkins and from that union she had three children, Connie (Jimmie) Moore, Ron (Martha) Larkins, Brenda (Ken) Rose, and 6 grandchildren, Charlie Burke, Casey Burke, Susan Pass, Kenneth Rose, Jesse Rose, Joey Rose and 14 great grandchildren. She has one brother Jim McWilliams and is preceded in death by six sisters.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 17, 2022 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 12:00 PM.  A graveside service will follow at Woodstock Cemetery.

MARGARET PETREY

Margaret Louise Petrey, daughter of the late Beecher and Hattie Russell Harper, was born April 19, 1925 and she departed this life on June 14th, 2022 having attained the age of 97 years.

She was united in marriage to Mr. James Lucian Petrey, he preceded her in death.Survivors include her daughter, Donna Lenos New and her husband Marty; and two grandchildren, Micah (and Amy) Lenos and Jill (and Doug) Murphy; also surviving are great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was a kind lady who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Woodstock Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Floyd officiating.

Darrell Glenn “Doggie” Wethington, age 68, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Tuesday June 14th, 2022, at the Russell County Hospital. He was born May 20th, 1954, in Lebanon, KY, a son of the late James Darrell Wethington and Lorene Allen.

Darrell was a former employee of Tarter Industries where he was a forklift driver, he was the former owner of Wethington Concrete.

Survivors include: His Spouse: Flora Barbara Glover Wethington, One Daughter: Kristi Glover and (Christopher Whited) of Stanford, One Son: Joseph and (Brenda) Wethington of Liberty, Two Grandchildren: McKinzie Luttrell and Dalton Summers and One Sister: Cindy Bishop of Clementsville.

JERRY KEENEY

Jerry Linus Keeney passed from this world on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. I was born February 22, 1948 to the late Linus Keeney and Freda Todd Keeney. I have lived my whole life in Nancy, KY, where I have enjoyed family, horses, and cattle. Had a tour in the U.S army in the late 60’s and 70’s, where I was stationed overseas. I am a proud member of the Burnetta Baptist Church.

In June, 1995, I married the love of my life Erica Ann Keeney, and she has been faithfully by my side through thick and thin. I haven’t got enough words to express my love and gratitude to you (Love you more). Keep looking up, we’ll meet again.

Survivors include, Erica Keeney, daughter in law; Missy Howard Keeney, grandson; Seth Linus Keeney, granddaughter; Sarah Renee Keeney, a son; Scott Keeney (Jennifer), granddaughters; Cora and Emma Keeney, a daughter; Martina Keeney-Martinson (Monte), stepson; Jed Lawrence (Sarah), granddaughter; Zoey Jane Lawrence (my country girl). Donald Ray Sanders, of Liberty, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022. He was 70.

Born on May 2, 1952, in Lebanon, Kentucky, he was a son of Wanda Johnson Sanders and the late Herman Sanders. He was a former drywall contractor. Donald Ray enjoyed working on and riding Harley Davidsons. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Wanda Sanders of Liberty; two sons, Eric Sanders of Knifley and Tyler Sanders of Campbellsville; a brother, Bobby Joe (Phyllis) Sanders of Campbellsville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Don Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Whited Cemetery.

Sue Holbrook Perior, age 85, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

Sue was born on September 5, 1936 in Bays, KY to the late Herbert Holbrook and Belle Hatton Holbrook.  She retired as a teacher from Washoe County School District in Reno, NV. Sue was a member of Harvest Time Assembly of God.  She was a member of Senior Friends and Somerset Newcomers.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed walking, riding her bike and she loved horses. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Gary Perior, whom she married on March 25, 1975 in Tucson, AZ; one son, Kirby (Angie) Middleton of Midlothian, TX; one step-son, Mark Perior; one brother, Ted (Kaye) Holbrook of Campton, KY; one sister, Ruby Collins of Richmond, KY; two grandchildren, Lindsay Gaydos and Amber Mize; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Clark Middleton; one brother, Don Holbrook; and one sister, Mattie Cox.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Wanda Irene Mercer, age 90, of Eubank, KY passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

Wanda was born on November 22, 1931 in Floyd Switch KY to the late James W. and Lena B. Bastin Miller. Wanda was a member of Polly Ann Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and loved going to church.

She is survived by one son, Johnnie Mercer (Delores Adington) of Eubank, KY; one daughter, Thelma Allen of Eubank; one brother, Carol Miller of Loveland, OH; four grandchildren, Jimmy Black (Norma Atwood), Johnnie Mercer Jr; Angela (Jason) Sluder; and Christy (Ron) Williams; five great-grandchildren, Austin Sluder; Mason Williams; Bryanna Baggett; Alyssa Black; and Landon Williams; and one great-great grandchild, Adalynn Baggett.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Layden Mercer of whom she married on December 10, 1949 in Floyd Switch, KY and he preceded her on September 4, 1995; one sister, Wilma Jean Greer and one brother, Harold Miller.

GAIL WHITAKER

 

Nettie Gailya Whitaker, age 82, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Gail was born on November 28, 1939 in Mt. Victory, KY to the late Earl Jones and Beulah Edwards Jones.  She was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church where she was very active while her health permitted.   Gail was deeply rooted in her Christianity and was an excellent example for her children and grandchildren.  She traveled all over the world with Norris and her family during his military career and enjoyed touring ancient Biblical sites in Turkey and enjoyed touring Germany and Belgium. 

Gail was very devoted to her family, her husband, children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and attending all of their activities and events.  Her church family was also very important to her.  She was a skilled seamstress, quilter, and an excellent cook like her mother, an extraordinary baker as her pies were especially loved by all.  Gail loved working in her flower garden and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.  Gail was an active Pulaski County Democratic Women’s Club member and worked many elections.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, Norris Whitaker, whom she married on October 2, 1960 at her parents’ home in Somerset; her children, Barry Whitaker (Lin Vaughn) of Somerset; Sheila Ramsey of Lebanon, TN; Laura (Bill) Newell of Somerset and Noreen (Paul) Bekish of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Kylie Ramsey, Elijah Ramsey, Cale Todd, Allie Todd, Ben Whitaker, Noah Bekish and Max Bekish; three brothers, David (Edna) Jones of Somerset, W.N. (Pearlie) Jones of Mt. Victory and Earl Edward (Carlene) Jones, Jr. of Somerset; one sister, Kathy Morgan of Somerset; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Ella) Mize, Jr., C.L. (Aundra) Whitaker and Margie Whitaker; and several nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Freida Mize; one sister-in-law, Kathern Jones; one brother-in-law, Larry Morgan; and one niece, Julie Jones. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

MILDRED KORSNICK

Mildred “Midge” Korsnick departed this life for her heavenly reunion on June 2, 2022 at 88 years of age.  She was a resident of Somerset, KY by way of Merritt Island, Florida.  Midge leaves behind her loving daughter, grandsons and great-grandchildren as well as her surviving sisters and brother.

Midge will be interred with her beloved husband, Phillip at the Florida National Cemetery.

RICKY WALKER

Ricky William Walker, son of the late William Ray and Ima Denham Walker, was born in Somerset, KY on Thursday, May 05, 1955 and he departed this life on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at his residence. He was 67 years old.
Ricky is survived by one son, Ricky Walker, Jr. of Cincinnati and his sisters Jamie, Rhonda and Hannah; five siblings, Bruce (and Wendy) Walker, Mike (and Tammy) Walker, Cheria Phelps, John (and Patti) Walker, Kimberly (and Brian) Niday, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his love, Debra Dunn. Ricky was a proud grandfather for DeAnna’s and Cheryl’s children Kenneth, Ryan, Aaron and Molly.
Ricky was an entrepreneur for most of his life. He was an exceptional craftsman and owner of Honey Do Company. He was an impressive pool player and an avid boater on Lake Cumberland.
Ricky lived life to the fullest. Friends and family would describe him as fun, kind, creative and heartfelt. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Harold J. “Bo” Wilson, age 72, of Ferguson, KY passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Russell County Hospital.

Bo was born on July 7, 1949 in Somerset, KY to the late Junnie and Ona Meeks Wilson. He retired from the Kingsford Charcoal Company. He loved to fish and going bowling.

He is survived by his daughter, Brittany (Anna) Wilson of Somerset; one granddaughter, Hannah (Haley) Lashley of Somerset; one sister, Fayrene Flynn of Somerset; one brother, Donald (Betty) Wilson of Ferguson; a sister-in-law, Jean Wilson of Cookeville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bo was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristy Lashley; an infant brother, Steven Wilson; and a brother, Wendell Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Herman Tarter, was born January 5, 1940, at Nancy, Kentucky to Arthur and Clara Owens Tarter, passed from this life June 1, 2022, having attained the age of 82 years.

Herman is survived by his wife Donna Kay Burton Tarter, whom he married on June 20, 1964. He is also survived by a daughter; Lori Wallace (Brian Abbott) and a son; Randy Tarter (Marty Mathis). Also surviving are grandchildren; Logan Wallace (Lauren Brown), Ashton Tarter, Adriene Tarter, Seth Abbott, Austin Abbott, Jordan Emerson (Jaren) , Tanner Eubanks (Sheranda), Delaney Eubanks, and great grandchildren; Rhys, Drew , Josie, and Maison Emerson and Tatum Eubanks as well as two sisters; Kathleen Pence (Jr.) and Dora Stickley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson; Tyler Aaron Wallace, brothers;Charles, Raymond,Larry, Bernell (Mousie), and Terry Tarter , two sisters; Evelene Wilson and Carrie Bushong as well as his in laws Everett and Magola Burton.

Herman was a member of Parkers Mill Road Baptist Church.

James Riley Buck, age 89, of Lexington, KY, passed away on Wednesday June 1st, 2022, at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born November 21st, 1932, in Casey Co., KY, a son of the late Johnny C. and Eva Ellen Wright Buck.

Riley was a Truck Driver and a U.S. Airforce Veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include: Six Children: Mark C. and (Robin Winsted) Buck of Liberty Township, OH, April Lynn Buck Miller of Lexington, KY, Jonathan Howard Buck of Fairfield, OH, Allison Paulette and (John) Turco of Fairfield Township, OH, Laura Todd of Mason, OH and Jeremy Buck of Fairfield, OH, Ten Grandchildren, Fifteen Great Grandchildren, and Two Sisters: Martha Scott of Liberty and Ova West of Nancy, KY.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was One Son: Jamie Buck, Three Brothers: Herman, Elmas and Onie Buck and Four Sisters: Mary Taylor, Ollie Gibson, Irene Buck and Francis Boggs.

JOHNNY HARGIS SR

 

Mr. Johnny W. Hargis, Sr. age 87 of Somerset, was born March 5, 1935.

He departed this life on May 31st, 2022 in Somerset.

Survivors include; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hargis, a granddaughter, Pam (and John) Sawyers, and a good friend, Daniel Carroll. Johnny was a farm worker and an Army Veteran. He was a good person who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 6th, 2022 at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38.

SHERLENE GADBERRY

Sherlene Johnson Gadberry, age 70 of Nancy, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Russell County Hospital.

Sherlene was born on August 6, 1951 in Jabez, KY to the late Zollie Coffer and Dolorus Johnson. She was a member of Smith Grove United Baptist Church. Her biggest joy in life was her family. Sherlene worked at Palm Beach and Fruit of Loom, then retired from Kentucky Leadership Center.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Gadberry whom she married on April 26, 1969 at Faubush, KY; two daughters, Bobbie Jolene (David) Bernard of Jabez; and Brooke Allison Gadberry-England (Jeremy) of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Daniel Bernard; Abigail Bernard; Tyson England; and Taylor England; and one sister, Sharon McQueary.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Alson Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
