NINA SUE ROY THOMAS

Nina Sue Roy Thomas, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2021, at her residence. She was 86.

 

Born June 14, 1934, in Casey County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Winslow and Vina Southerland Roy.

 

Nina was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Nina was a member of First Baptist Church of Liberty where she was in the choir. She enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Citizens Center, singing and traveling. Nina was an avid UK fan.

 

Survivors include her son, Berlin Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; and 2 great-grandchildren, Lily Sue and Lauren Marie.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth G. Thomas; son, Dwight Thomas; brothers, Berlin, Walt, Paul, and Roger Roy; sisters, Lotus Pike, Okra Dale Clark, and Virginia Olson; and granddaughter, Jennifer Varnado.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:00PM on Monday, February 1, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Birdie Russell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 1:00PM on Monday at the funeral home.

DAVID CARL PITMAN JR.

David Carl Pitman Jr. age 50 of Liberty, KY passed away on Thursday January 28th, 2021 at U.K. Albert B. Chandler Hospital.

 

He was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 10th, 1970 a son of David Carl Pitman Sr. and Phyllis Maxine Cochran Pitman.

 

David sold firewood and attended Solid Rock Baptist Church.

 

Additional Survivors include: One Brother: Larry and (Stacy) Pitman of Liberty and Nieces and Nephews: Brooke Pitman, Olivia and (Brandon) Smith, Halle, Elijah, Breanna, Jackson and Lillie Pitman.

JENNY HALL BERNARD

Jenny Hall Bernard, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2021, at Casey County Hospital. She was 77.

 

Born October 15, 1943, in Liberty, KY, she was a daughter of the late George and Annie Lynn Hall. Jenny was a homemaker that will be remembered for her abundant love for her family. She was a current member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church and a former member of the Brush Creek Christian Church.

 

Survivors include her son, Andy Bernard of Liberty; daughters, Anita (and Mickey) Goode of Columbia and Carla (and Curtis) Whitehurst of Liberty; sisters, Jeanette Jeffries of Moreland and Geneva Price, Edna Allen, and Alta Whited, all of Liberty; 3 grandchildren, Daniel (and Christina) Whitehurst, Tyler (and Jody) Whitehurst, and Morgan (and Emily) Wethington; step-granddaughter, Amy Goode; 2 great-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

 

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mack Bernard, who died August 21, 1997; her brothers, Jim, Walter, and Arnold Hall; and a foster sibling, Sterling Smithers.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:00PM on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Huggins officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.

SANDY WETHINGTON WOLFORD

Sandy Wethington Wolford, of Clementsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at University of Kentucky Medical Center.

 

Born on September 24, 1947, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late William “Bill Mark” and Gracie Christine Wethington. Sandy was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was heavily involved in all church activities. She was the office manager at Wolford and Wethington sawmill and worked at Fruit of the Loom for fifteen years. Sandy liked to travel. She was a selfless person that was always lending a hand to others. She was an avid UK fan.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Terri (and Tim) Hatter of Clementsville and Melinda (and John Coffey) Becker of Louisville; a son, Keith (and Carissa) Wolford of Clementsville; four grandchildren, Lauren, Tristan, Lily, and Allie; and three step-grandsons, Brently, Brey, and Ben. Other survivors include two sisters, Arlene (and Stan) Cohen of Seattle, WA and Julita Patten of Liberty; and four brothers, Terry (and Carol) Wethington, Joey (and Belinda) Wethington, Robin (and Syrilla) Wethington, and Kevin (and Anna Jean) Wethington, all of Liberty.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Coy Wolford, who passed away on March 22, 2016; two sisters, Barbara Whitt and Brenda Wethington; and three brothers, Ronald Wethington, Larry Wethington, and Billy Ray Wethington.

 

The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father George Otuma officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

CORA HAMILTON

 

Cora Lynne Hamilton age 85 of Kings Mountain, KY passed away on Tuesday January 26th, 2021 at Danville Center for Health and Rehab. She was born in Mt. Vernon, KY on June 29th, 1935 a daughter of the late Delbert and Eva Owens Deatherage.

 

Lynne was the widow of Harold Lee Hamilton who passed away on April 3rd, 2011.

 

Lynne was the former Secretary of Hamilton and Family Company Incorpated.

 

Survivors include: One Son: David Lee Hamilton of Kings Mountain, KY, One Daughter: Kathleen Hamilton of Kings Mountain, KY, Two Step Grandchildren, One Step Great Grandson, Two Brothers: Ken Deatherage of OH and Garr Deatherage of TN and One Sister: Patsey Koller of Indiana.

Ricky Lynn Williams, of Yosemite, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset. He was 60.

 

Born November 1, 1960, in Danville, KY, he was a son of Dorothy Ann Bastin Williams and the late Robert “Bob” Lee Williams. Ricky was a former factory worker. He enjoyed spending time and story-telling with his grandchildren. Ricky also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He attended the Green River Christian Church.

 

Survivors include his dear wife of forty years, Lena Carender Williams; daughter, Melissa Elise (and Clyde) Brooks of Windsor; son, Brian Lee Williams of Berea; mother, Dorothy Ann Bastin Williams of Yosemite; sister, Cindy Ann Williams (and David) Mason of Hustonville; and two grandchildren, April Lily Brooks and Weslyn James Brooks.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, January 29, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Leslie Bentley officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the McKinney Family Cemetery in Eubank.

WILLIAM "JERRY" DENSON

 

William “Jerry” Denson, 72, of Yosemite, KY, passed from this life January 26th, 2021.

 

He was born June 7th, 1948, in Liberty, KY to Alzo and Manella Denson.

 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Durham Denson, 2 sons, Jerry Wayne Denson (Lisa) and James Eric Denson (Danielle) of Yosemite, 8 grandchildren, Cody, Jacob (Dana), Jonathon, Amber, Dale, Bridget, Hunter and Lexa Denson and one great grandson Kashton Wayne Denson.

He is also survived by brothers Doug (Ann) of Delaware, Joe (Rose) of Liberty, Billy (Teresa) of Liberty and sister, Betty (Hollis) Clementsville, along with several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Denson, and granddaughter, Ashley.

 

He worked 30 years at Watson Gate and thoroughly enjoyed gardening, fishing, bingo and driving the roads of East Casey County.

 

Due to Jerry’s wishes, cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held later this year. Any friends or family wishing to give their condolences are welcomed at the Denson home in Yosemite, KY.

TERRY L WESLEY

 

Terry Lee Wesley, 74, of Liberty died Friday, January 22, 2021 in Lexington, Ky.

 

He was the husband of Suzanne Cooper Wesley. Terry was her best friend and the love of her life. Born August 5, 1946 in Argyle, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Hester Adams Wesley. He was a member of the Shady Grove Separate Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. Terry and his wife, Suzanne, were the former owners of Ron's Market and S & T Market both in Liberty. He also was a former Vice President of Manufacturing with FKI Logistex in Danville as well as a farmer.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Trevor (Travis Bodner) Wesley of Moreland, Tracey (Cindy) Wesley of Midway, one sister, Patsy Clements of Liberty, and two granddaughters, Katherine Wesley of Midway and Paris Bodner of Moreland.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home, Moreland, Kentucky. Bro. Eric Douglas will be officiating the services.

 

Burial will be in the Valley Oak Cemetery, Argyle, Kentucky.

 

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Jeff Simmons age 46 of Liberty, KY passed away on Saturday January 23rd, 2021 at his residence.

 

He was born in Beech Grove, IN on September 8th, 1974 a son of Merida Joy Derringer Simmons of Liberty and the late Jackie Ray Simmons.

 

Jeff was a truck driver.

VIRL GOODE

Virl Goode, of Columbia, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at his home. He was 92 years of age.

 

Born April 14, 1928, in Adair County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Wallace and Nannie Sanders Goode Randall. Virl worked at the Ford Garage in Liberty and he was a farmer. He was a member of the Casey Creek Masonic Lodge #536.

 

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary E. “Jackie” Thomas Goode, whom he married on April 10, 1954; two sons, Mickey (Anita) Goode of Columbia, and David (Janice) Goode of Columbia; 3 grandchildren, Amy, Kelly, and Amanda; step-grandson, Morgan Wethington; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, Virl is preceded in death by three brothers, Porter Jackson Goode, Ballard S. Goode, and Wallace Goode; six sisters, Marie Vanoy, Beatrice Julianne, Leona Murphy, Pauline Schweitzer, Vola Freeman, and Jean Delp; and his step-father, Neil Randall.

Garfield was a retired coal miner.

Mr. Eddie Dean Luttrell, age 64, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Joe and Della (Crew) Luttrell.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin Luttrell, Bessie Salyers, and Barbara Luttrell. 

 

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda K. Luttrell of Liberty, Kentucky, special companion of 32 years, Mary Polston of Albany, Kentucky, step-daughter, Audry (Jon) Byrd, siblings, Tony Luttrell, Arvis Luttrell, Jack Luttrell, Terry Luttrell all of Windsor, Kentucky, Mary Jane Bostic of Lexington, Kentucky, Faye Passmore of Dunville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Baylee Reams, Morgan Reams, Zachary Byrd, Skylar Byrd, Benjamin Byrd, and a great Grandchild, Faron Byrd.

QUINTIN LYNCH

 

Quentin Lynch, of Casey County, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Liberty Care Center. He was 97.

 

Born on September 11, 1923, in New Tazewell, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Isaac and Gennettie Keck Lynch.

 

Quentin moved to Casey County when he was eleven years old. He served in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific where he was a Parachute Packer. Quentin was also a farmer, an electrician, and a TV repair man.

 

He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Lynch of Michigan; a son, David Lynch of Michigan; and multiple grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Leone Artz Lynch; a daughter, Linda Lynch; five sisters, Juanita Finn, Coba Meyers, Hattie Wilson, Eunice Christian, and Agnes Lynch; and four brothers, Vernon Lynch, John Lynch, Alec Lynch, and Blue Lynch.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Cold Springs Cemetery.

MARLON ANDY RICHARDSON

Marlon Andy Richardson, of Orange County, Florida, formerly of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021.  He was 56 years of age.

 

Born on October 31, 1964, in Somerset, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Geneva Withers Richardson.  Marlon was a construction worker.

 

 Survivors include two sisters, Charlotte (and George) Terwilliger and Shirley (and Ralph) Antle;  and one brother, Aubrey Richardson.  Marlon is also survived by a niece; nephews; and special family friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Marlon was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Patricia Richardson.

 

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

JACKIE FAYE EVERSOLE

Jackie Faye Eversole, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset. She was 65.

 

Born on April 29, 1955, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dixie Day Cissell. Jackie worked at OshKosh for ten years. She loved attending church and was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed spending time with her dogs, crafting, visiting the Dollar Tree, and scrapbooking. More than anything, Jackie loved being with her family. She was truly a fighter.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Tamara Brown of Liberty; a son, John Waylon Brown of Liberty; a grandson, Zackery Brown of Liberty; two sisters, Carolyn (and Azor) Evanoss and Mattie Miles, both of Memphis, Indiana; and two brothers, Roger (and Teresa) Cissell of Scottsburg, Indiana and JR (and Lucy) Cissell of Memphis, Indiana.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Releford officiating.

Lloyd Luttrell, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. He was 78 years of age.

 

Born on November 8, 1942, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Dewell and Ola Emerson Luttrell. Lloyd was a factory worker and a farmer. He was a member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his wife, Clora Tucker Luttrell of Liberty; one son, Neil Luttrell of Liberty; two grandchildren, Skyler Luttrell of Lexington and Savana Luttrell of Somerset; and one sister, Bonnie (and Jim) Tucker of Dunnville.

 

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by one brother, Durward Luttrell; and one sister, Mildred Hart.

Mabel Morgan age 96 of Middleburg, KY passed away on Saturday January 9th, 2021 at the Liberty Care Center. She was born in Gilpin, KY on March 17th, 1924 a daughter of the late Arthur “Buck” and Lucy Copley Hoskins.

 

Mabel was the widow of Junior Morgan who passed away on June 26th, 1986.

 

Mabel was a housewife, she loved to quit and set on her back porch.

 

Survivors include: Four Sons: Ronald and (Alice) Morgan and Garnett Morgan and (Karen Pendleton) both of Liberty, Arnold and (Kathy) Morgan and David and (Donna) Morgan both of Middleburg, Patty Watson of Danville, Sue and (Bill) Chadwell of Franklin, IN and Regina Terry and (Doug Ellis) of Hustonville, Nineteen Grandchildren, Twenty Six Great Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Great Grandchildren, One Great Great Great Grandchild, Two Sisters: JoAnn Harris of Stanford and Wanda Byrd of Hustonville, One Brother: Boyd Hoskins of Liberty and several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was Two Daughters: Gay Allen and Anna Lou Morgan, One Son: Donald Ray Morgan, Two Son-in-Laws, One Daughter-in-Law, Five Sisters: Mary Ellen Morgan, Dorothy Long, Ruth Lawson, Lillian Morgan and Genova Kay Hoskins and Three Brothers: Al, Carl and Morris Hoskins.

 

A Walk Thru Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Tuesday January 12th, 2021 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Funeral Services will be held for Private Family Only on Wednesday at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Great Grandson Pastor Hunter Chadwell officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Willow Springs Cemetery.

LARRY DALE ROY

Larry Dale Roy, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset. He was 75.

 

Born on August 15, 1945, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Luther and Violetta Maxine Buis Roy. Larry was a farmer and logger. He confessed to know his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. Larry loved telling stories.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Tracie (and Keith) Emerson of Windsor; two grandchildren, Morgan Brooke Emerson and Macie Elizabeth Emerson; a host of other family members and friends; and his pet dog, Brownie.

 

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Woodcock and Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Rich Hill Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

ELSIE ANN BREWSTER

Elsie Ann Brewster, age 85, of Lincoln County, passed away on Sunday, January 10,2021, at her residence.

 

Born February 9, 1935, in Casey County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Kelly and Gertrude Hendren Richardson. Elsie was a 50 year member of the Mt. Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and participating in Church functions.

 

Survivors include her sons, Dwight (and Kathy) Brewster of Glendora, MI, Henry Brewster of Hustonville, Jessie (and Tina) Brewster of New Buffalo, MI, and James Brewster of Covert, MI; daughters, Mae Raske of Hustonville, Theresa Butler (and Harold Boker) of Bridgman, MI, and Doris (and Russell) Rodgers of Casey County; 25 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Brewster; stepmother, Rena Evans Richardson; 12 siblings; and one deceased grandchild.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:00PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Pittman officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Willow Springs Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the funeral home.

FAYE WOODRUM

Faye Woodrum of Butler County, Ohio was called to her Heavenly home, on January 9, 2021, at the age 82.

 

She passed peacefully at her residence. God wanted her home, part of His divine plan, to that peaceful, eternal resting place of love.  Many who Faye loved, so deeply saddened will miss her presence. Faye always saw the good in people and had compassion with love for those she knew.  Family was always important to her, keeping her relatives close at heart. Faye's happiness was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Truly her happiest years were raising her children. She also found great joy in making her home a welcoming place for her children's friends. Born January 27,1938, in Casey County, KY, Faye was the daughter of Coy & Annie Davis. 

 

Faye will be forever remembered by her three children, Kimberly Bray, Greg Woodrum and Scott Woodrum. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Kayla Woodrum, Matt (Taylor) Woodrum and Nate Woodrum, along with four great grandchildren, Liam, Athena, Carter and Persephone.  She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Mildred Cochran, Carol Vaughn, Teresa Combs and Larry (Melanee) Davis, as well as sisters-in-law, Irene Roberts and Ernestine (Larry) Thomas.

 

Faye is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gearil Woodrum, who passed away on February 19, 2008.

 

There will be a graveside funeral service at 1:00PM on Monday, January 11, 2021, at the Salem Cemetery in Casey County with Stacy Cochran officiating.

CECIL HAROLD "SLICK" WETHINGTON

Cecil Harold “Slick” Wethington age 79 of Kings Mountain, KY passed away on Friday January 8th, 2021 at his residence.

 

He was born in Casey County, KY on November 23rd, 1941 a son of the late Benjamin Crawford and Lillie Marie Taylor Wethington.

 

Cecil was a logger.

 

Survivors include: His Significant Other: Debra Sims Wheeler, Five Children: Debbie and (Jackie) Pemberton, Audrey Bernard, Cecil D. Wethington all of Liberty, Bradley and (Jessica Angel) Wethington of Kings Mountain and Jamie and (Paul) Lewis of Stanford, Ten Grandchildren: Danielle Wilson, Taylor Luttrell, Tyler Pemberton, Callie Niece, Lilly Wethington, Kaylee Wethington, Tyson Salyers, Kamdon VanCleave, Greg Reed and Michael Bernard, Ten Great Grandchildren and Three Sisters: Anita Wheeler of Science Hill, KY, Joann Atwood of Georgetown, KY and Terri Goode of Bardstown, KY.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was Three Sisters: Bernell Atwood, Barbara Burton and Renee Wethington.

IRENE MATHEWS GOSSER

Irene Mathews Gosser, 90, Liberty, KY died January 8, 2021 at The Willows in Harrodsburg, KY.

 

She was born in Casey County, KY on January 4, 1931 to the late Ruba and Bertha Carmicle Mathews. She married the love of her life the late Harvey P. Gosser on May 11, 1949. She lived on the Dry Ridge farm that they loved from that date until her death. On this farm, they raised their five children and loved their grandchildren who could do no wrong.

 

Irene is survived by her children; Hollis Norman Gosser, Mark and Debbie Gosser, Marty K. Gosser all of Liberty and Donna and Gary Robinson of Junction City. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter and caregiver Sharon Y. Gosser. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric and Leesha Gosser of Stanford, KY, Brian and Melissa Gosser of Charleston, SC, Michele Gosser of Moreland, KY, Dustin Gosser of Louisville, KY, Zachary and Danielle Gosser of Knoxville, TN, Alex and Isaac Robinson of Junction City, KY and Jake and Aicha Robinson of Paris, France. Great grandchildren include Seth, Aidan and Landon Gosser; Alivia and Pierce Gosser and Eliza and Frederick Gosser.

 

Irene is also survived by her siblings; Mary and Robert Cramer and Jewell Delrue of Toledo, OH; Johnnie and Gail Mathews of Russell Springs, KY and her little sister, Brenda and Mickey Roy of Greenwood, IN.

 

Irene was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she held many positions over the years. She loved her career as a Head Start teacher in Liberty and Middleburg for 25 years and furthered her own college education in Child Development by takin night classes from various institutions. Irene was active in the community especially as a 4H leader and Youth activities. She and Harvey loved their time in the Casey square dance club and nothing pleased her more than a competitive game of Scrabble with her sisters. Irene loved creating whether she was writing poetry, basket making, picking up a new craft and especially her quilting.

 

But for all her passions, her greatest was her family. She loved hosting the Mathews Family Reunion over the years and her door was always open. You never left her without her asking “When are you coming back?” She was the happiest when surrounded by that family and set an excellent example of unconditional love.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. on Monday January 11th, 2021 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

DONALD PATRICK "PAT" WETHINGTON

Donald Patrick “Pat” Wethington, age 70, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at his home in Elizabethtown, KY.

 

Born November 18, 1950, in Campbellsville, KY, he was a son of the late Philip and Gladys Ward Wethington. Pat was the retired carpentry supervisor for the Roederer Correctional Complex in LaGrange, KY. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church. Pat loved growing roses, cooking and culinary arts, and nature. He was a former poll worker on Election Days and also a former tram supervisor at the Kentucky State Fair. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a former certified locksmith.

 

Survivors include his dear wife whom he married on March 19, 1971, Linda Lou Coffman Wethington; sons, Robert (and Susan) Wethington of Sonora, KY and Richard (and Jamie) Luttrell of Bowling Green, KY; brother, Philip (and Mary) Wethington of Sidney, OH; sister, Mary Rose “Rosie” Brunner of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Ashlee and Abigail Wethington, Luke Luttrell, and Jasmine (and Sam) Milam; and one great-granddaughter, Millie Milam.

 

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Clementsville, KY with Father George Otuma officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

CHARLES "BILL" ATWOOD

Charles “Bill” Atwood, of Parksville, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

 

Born on March 7, 1947, in Lebanon, Ohio, he was a son of the late Elmer Lee and Floye Burchell Atwood. Bill was a United States Army veteran. He was retired from ATR in Danville after 20+ years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bill was an avid UK basketball and Cincinnati Bengals fan.

 

He is survived by his wife, Donna Williamson Atwood; two sons, Todd Atwood (and Nicki) of Eubank and Brian Atwood of Mitchellsburg; a brother, Danny Atwood of Ohio; two grandchildren, Zachary Atwood and Kristin Atwood; and two great-grandchildren, Jessa and Matthew.

 

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a brother, Archie Atwood.

 

No services will be held at this time.

G.B. TAYLOR

G.B. Taylor, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at his home. He was 79.

 

Born on May 21, 1941, in Bell County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Charles Lee and Mary Woolum Taylor. He was a retired machinist. G.B. was a life-long auto enthusiast. He built many hot rods and motorcycles and enjoyed attending car shows. He was an honest man with a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

 

He is survived by two sisters, Wanda Lutes and Vivian Egbert of Louisville; and a brother, Donald Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

No services will be held at this time.

FRANCES EDWARDS SMITHER

Frances Edwards Smither, formerly of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. She was 92.

 

Born on October 6, 1928, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Sander L. and Gurtie Brown Edwards. Frances was an LPN. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, bird watching, and participating in church activities. She greatly loved her hometown of Casey County.

 

Frances is survived by two sons, Victor B. (and Sally) Smither of Goshen and Alan (and Sandy) Smither of Hudson, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Victor, Sean, Sheri, Christy, Sarah, Casey, Benjamin, and Dustin; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Buel Smither, who passed away on May 17, 1982; and fourteen siblings.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Foley officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery.

Frances Sue Gilpin, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at her home. She was 79.

 

Born on July 27, 1941, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Cameron Lee and Edna Frances Eads Withers. Frances was a retired bus monitor for the Casey County Board of Education. She attended both Antioch Christian Church and Ellisburg Baptist Church. She loved her pets and traveling. She formerly often visited people at local hospitals and nursing homes.

 

Frances is survived by a brother, James Cameron (Teresa) Withers of Liberty; a sister, Betty Thomas of Somerset; and a host of other family and friends.

 

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by both husbands, Otis E. Kershaw and Esker A. Gilpin.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, January 4, 2020, at Mill Springs National Cemetery with Bro. Sherman Floyd officiating.

 

The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Monday, January 4, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
