BOBBY McMULLIN

 

Bobby Gene McMullin, 58, of Yosemite, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at his residence.

 

He was born August 18, 1962 in Versailles; son of Robert Gene & Iva Lee (Dick) McMullin.

 

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Ricky McMullin of Texas; and a sister, Lori Ann McMullin of Yosemite.

 

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie & Timmy McMullin.

 

Private services will be held by the family.

HELEN PASSMORE

 

Helen Passmore, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at her home. She was 64.

 

Born on November 2, 1956, in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Dora Noe Passmore. Helen was a caregiver for the elderly. She was a kind and caring person. She enjoyed gardening and overall loved to have a good time.

 

She is survived by two sons, Don (Rebekah) Kelley of Gravel Switch and Bobby Kelley of Liberty; three grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan, and Skylar; a great-grandchild, Jenson; and a brother, Larry Long of Versailles.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Passmore; two sisters, Mary Lee Wilson and Betty Harris; and three brothers, Bob Dillingham, Thermon Long, and J.C. Long.

 

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Don Clark officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

 

ROGER ESTUS

 

Roger Matthewson Estus, 73, of Somerset, passed away, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Jean Waddle Care Center.

 

He was born June 15, 1947 in Monroe, Michigan; son of the late, Leelon & Bernice (Mathewson) Estus. He worked as a purchasing agent for Precision Solutions and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. He was a past Vice President of the Child Evangelism Fellowship for the State of Kentucky. He was a loving Husband, Dad, and Papa. He was the spiritual leader for his family.

 

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Sparks) Estus; three daughters, Natalie Elaine & (Jamie) Walker of Spring Hill, Kansas, Patricia Nicole & (Steven) Guinn of Monticello, and Kindra Noel & (Stephen) Griffis of Somerset; a sister, Eunice Costello of Englewood, Florida; ten grandchildren, Ross, Harlee, Hannah, James, & Isaac Walker, Kent & Peri Guinn, and Preston, Clark, & Easton Griffis.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Griffis officiating.

 

Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

 

Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post # 38.

WILLIAM HAIR

 

William Edward “Billy” Hair, of Liberty, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021. He was 71.

 

Born on August 2, 1949, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Warren and Irene Russell Hair. Billy was a United States Postal Carrier for the past forty-seven years. He was a United States Navy veteran. He was one of the original members of the Casey County Apple Festival committee and a former member of the Liberty Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He loved fishing and traveling with his family. Billy was baptized in the Church of God.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Deva Brockman Hair, who he wed on July 27, 1969; a daughter, Misty Brooke Hair (Rusty) Wilson; one brother; two sisters; a long-time friend, Freddie Whited; his dog, Sammy; and his grand-dog, Sophie.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 28, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Spaw officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

 

Military honors will be performed by the Casey County Honor Guard.

MICHAEL HAYS

 

Michael A. “Mike” Hays, 61, of Forkland died Monday, May 24, 2021 in Danville. He was the son of Mary Lou Ellis Hays and the Late Joseph Allen Hays.  Mike was a member of Sycamore Church Of Christ.

 

Mike’s passions included horse pulling, coon hunting and reminiscing about funny events of the past.  Mike won the Taylorsville World Horse Pull seven times.

 

In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his two sons, William of Nicholasville, Lee of Gravel Switch; a sister and her husband, Mary Jo and Todd Haydon of Elizabethtown; and two nieces, Maggie and Caroline Haydon also of Elizabethtown.

 

Including his father, he was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Isaac and Margaret Ellis; paternal grandmother, Faye Hays; and Kimberly M. Hays.

 

Visiting hours will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at the funeral home with Ken Barker officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Elder Cemetery.

 

LILLIAN RANEY

 

Lillian "Lil" Raney of Eubank, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Somerset, Kentucky.

 

She was proceeded in death by Her parents; Cressel and Hester Raney A brother; Stanley Raney, two Sisters; Laura Thompson And Clara Raney as well as a Sister -in- Law; Tina Raney.

 

She is survived by her Sons; Shawn Raney and Martin Raney,a Brother; Richard( Kathy) Raney Sr. of Shelbyville, IN and three Sisters; Janet (Chapp) Raney Caldwell of Somerset, KY, Sharon Raney Gillam and Shelia Raney Both Of Eubank, KY, A Brother -In- Law; Eddie Thompson Of Richmond, IN. She is also survived by three Grandsons; Christopher Raney, Devin Raney, and Austin Raney and one Granddaughter; Cinnamon McKeithan and Great Grandchildren; Eloreley Marry McKeithan- Thomas and Asher Raney

 

She also leaves behind her special Great Niece; Evangeline Gillam.
As well as a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends to morn her passing.

 

She was a member of Barnesburg Baptist Church and the Eubank Ruritan Club as well as a honorary member of The Eubank Fire Department PR Department.

MARYANN JONES

 

Maryann Jones age 66, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

 

Maryann was born August 27, 1954 to the late John Pichney and Helen Dalton Pichney in Union Dale, New York.

 

She liked to rides horse, cook, loved the culinary arts and was a huge Yankees fan.

 

Maryann was preceded in death by her parents; she leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Dianna Padgett (Ryann) of Jacksonville, FL, Amitty Humm (Beth) of Lexington, KY and brother, Steven Pichney.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

CHERYL SEARS

 

Cheryl L. Sears age 72, of Somerset passed from this life on Saturday May 22, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Mrs. Sears was born on December 17, 1948 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Tal and Jamie Gibson Taylor. 

 

Cheryl attended the Bridge Fellowship Community Church. She loved spending time with her family and doing things for others. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling and spoiling their family dog.  

 

Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sam Taylor; and a sister, Sue Taylor. 

 

Cheryl leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, W. David Sears; daughter, Kimberly Sears of Somerset; brother, Jerry Taylor; and a special niece, Bridgette Drum. Along with a host of extended family and friends, especially her White Tail Run family. 

 

Visitation for Mrs. Sears will be Thursday May 27, 2021 from 11-1 in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1 P.M. with Pastor Joe Altman and Jeff Slone officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.

DIANA LYKINS

 

Diana L. Lykins, 78 of Danville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 in Liberty, Kentucky.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; Kit Loveless and Chris Loveless and brother; Terry Lovelace.


She is survived by her husband, Ben Lykins; brother, Patrick Loveless; sister-in-law, Cynthia Loveless; nephews, Bruce, Ryan and Stephen Loveless; and niece, Vicki Hall; and a host of other beloved family members.

 

Diana loved spending time with family and friends; cooking and restoring antiques. She had a big heart and was generous and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky. The family will receive visitors Friday, May 28, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M.

 

A graveside service will follow at Somerset Cemetery at 1:30 P.M.

 

CHANCE MOODY

 

Chance Moody, age 36, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

 

Chance was born on May 30, 1984 in Somerset to Paul Douglas Moody and Tammy Lee Dagley Adams.  Chance loved God, family and friends and would do anything for them.  He truly had a heart of gold.  Most of all, he was very proud of his daughter, Haven, and enjoyed spending time with her.  Chance was charismatic with an infectious laugh and had the biggest smile that would light up any room.  He was a kind hearted, loving, loyal and gentle soul.  He was also strong willed and independent.  Chance never met a stranger and chose to always see the good in everyone.  He loved repairing and restoring items to their potential value.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by the love of his life and the mother of his daughter, Vanda Hines; his beloved daughter, Haven Arlee Moody; two very special children in his life, Savannah Hines and Austin Hines; his father, Paul (and Heather) Moody of Ferguson; his mother, Tammy Adams (and William Robert “Rob” Adams II) of Apopka, FL; his grandmother, Arlee Dagley of Somerset; two brothers, Justin Moody of Somerset and Evan Adams (fiancé, Kacey Storch) of Apopka, FL; four sisters, Payton (and Anthony) Murray of Ferguson, Ashlyn Moody of Ferguson, Hayden Moody of Ferguson and Ainsley Moody of Ferguson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends. 

 

He was preceded in death by his maternal papaw, Harold Dagley; and his paternal grandparents, Wallace and Frances Moody.

 

Visitation will be on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

 

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Pastor Lance Parrott officiating. 

 

Burial will be at Pulaski Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mark Henderson, Evan Adams, Justin Moody, Jordan Dagley, Sean Cundiff and Austin Hines.

Helen Agnes Hendricks, 79, of Science Hill, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

She was born January 7, 1942 in Ansel, Kentucky; daughter of the late Edgar D. & Opal Ovaline (Campbell) Moore.

 

She is survived by her husband, Charles Hendricks; two sons, Chuck Hendricks of Eubank and Rodney Hendricks of Polly Ann Ridge Community; a daughter, Cassie & (Marc) Romer of Science Hill; two brothers, Gene Moore of Winchester, Kentucky and Douglas Moore of Sardinia, Ohio; a sister, Carolyn Mofield of Science Hill; a sister-in-law, Reca Moore; a brother-in-law, Jack Howerton; six grandchildren, Corky, Rusty, & Carlie Hendricks, Adam & Nick Romer, and Mason Owens; ten great grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin, & Elena, Hendricks, Matt & Carson Hendricks, Austin & Will Garmin, and Zoey & Colton Romer, and Micah Koch; and two great-grandchildren on the way.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Billy Moore and Dave & (Melvina) Moore; two sisters,  Jeanette Moore, who died in infancy, and Wilma Howerton; and a sister-in-law, Lil Moore.

PATRICK JASPER

 

Dr. Patrick Lee “Pat” Jasper, loving husband, father, and grandfather, accomplished pediatrician and diagnostician, veteran, and respected community member, died May 24, 2021. 

 

Dr. Jasper was born October 20, 1938 in Science Hill, KY to Oda Vernon (O.V.) and Vivian McClure Jasper.  He attended Somerset High School where he played on the basketball team, graduating in 1956.  In 2011 he was inducted into the Somerset High School Athletic Hall of Fame. 

 

He graduated from Union College in 1960 and Vanderbilt Medical School in 1965. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina in 1968.  He then served as a Major in the Army Medical Corps from 1968-1970 before returning to Somerset, where he practiced at the Children’s Clinic for 30 years.

 

From 1979 to 2008, Dr. Jasper was a member the American Board of Pediatrics, serving as an oral examiner and a member of multiple sub-committees before becoming the Secretary-Treasurer in 1991, and then the Chair-elect and Chairman of the Board from 1992-1994.  Dr. Jasper married Kathryn Susan (Wright) Jasper in 1993.  Dr. Jasper and Mrs. Jasper traveled extensively in support of his role as Chair-elect and Chairman of the Board. 

 

Dr. Jasper was also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Kentucky Medical Association, as well as a voluntary faculty member at the University of Kentucky Department of Pediatrics.  He and Mrs. Jasper were active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Somerset, KY where Dr. Jasper served as a member of the Session.

 

In retirement, Dr. Jasper remained an avid reader and sports fan.  He and Mrs. Jasper enjoyed frequent travel to Vero Beach, Florida, and they were active in the lives of their many grandchildren.  Dr. Jasper also continued to serve as a reviewer of medical documents on behalf of the Kentucky Medical Association. 

 

Dr. Jasper is preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Wesley Jasper, his parents, O.V. and Vivian Jasper, his brother, Dr. Stephen Jasper, and his grandson, Miles Vaught.

 

He is survived by his wife Kathryn Susan Jasper, his daughter Jennifer Jasper, his son Rick Jasper (Christy), his stepdaughters Lisa Humphreys (Robert), Briana Haynes Small (Edwin), and Kara Haynes (Bryon Vaught), and his grandchildren: Chris and Ben Joplin, Luke and Justin Jasper, Mac and Cate Humphreys, Sunshine Randolph, Grace and Lauryn Hamm, Spencer Kate, Ella, Ezra, Nolan, and Roswell Vaught.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company. 

 

A Graveside Service will be held at Somerset Cemetery on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00am.

 

FETTER WILDER

 

Rev. Fetter Lynn Wilder, age 66, of Cawood, Kentucky, made his transition from the toils of earth to his eternal reward on Friday, May 21, 2021, at the Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  His transition was perhaps made easier as he was surrounded by his loving family while singing one “What a Lovely Name, the Name of Jesus”.  Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal.  He preached the word of God and was a faithful witness to share the glorious gospel with others in his daily interactions with others.                                                                                                                                                                 

He was born on May 5, 1955 in Harlan, Kentucky, son of the late Walter Wilder and Agnes Fern Browning Osborne.  Fetter was a graduate of James A. Cawood High School and attended Morehead State University where he majored in Music.  His love for music was evident in his skillful playing of several instruments including the piano, organ and guitar.  Fetter was a hardworking man, and would often share of his start in life as a coal miner in Harlan County.    He was a multi-talented man that Loved the Lord, his family and countless friends as well as coon hunting.  Fetter was industrious and innovative.  He was the family “fix it man”  If anything  was broken, he would figure out a way to fix it.  His generosity and kind-heartedness extended beyond his family to anyone that was in need. He was of the Pentecostal-Holiness Faith, having been called in the ministry he was a dedicated Pastor with the Church of God/Valley View Church of God for a number of years prior to his retirement.  After retirement, he could be found sharing a testimony or the word of God to others.  Besides loving the Lord and his family, Bro. Fetter was known as the “Jerky-Man, or the “Fried Pie Man” but his greatest joy was coon hunting, caring for his dogs and fishing with his grandchildren.  Bro. Fetter will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. 

 

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister; Eva June Smith, his mother-in-law; Arwanna Wheeler Barrett. 

 

He leaves behind to cherish is memory his wife; Cathy Barrett Wilder, who he married on October 25, 1975 in Harlan, Kentucky and his sons; Fetter L. (Angela) Wilder, II of Eubank, Kentucky, Joshua E. Wilder of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Daniel L. (Miranda) Wilder of Eubank, Kentucky, four grandchildren; Seth Wilder, Alyssa Wilder, Austin Wilder and Christian Wilder, and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Trinity Fellowship Church of God, 119 Harvey Street, Somerset and from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 29, 2021. 

 

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Noon at the Church with Pastor Jerry Collins and Pastor Steve Vanhook Officiating, 

 

Interment will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.  

 

JAMES DEAL

 

James “Jim” Allen Deal age 92 of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Friday, May 21, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 

 

Jim was born July 5, 1928 in Taylorsville, North Carolina. His late parents were Denton and Nora Norfleet.  

 

He was devoted to Jesus Christ, his church, and the Bible. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church, Somerset Country Club, an avid relic hunter, ginseng collector, golfer, and gardener. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army, 1951-1953, as a Sergeant; and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one campaign star, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan). He was owner of Wilson & Deal Communications, Somerset, KY, and the former Co-Owner of Unlimited Fiberglass, Somerset, KY.  

 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Velna Deal (Fox) whom he married on August 15, 1954.  

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Douglas Allen Deal (Kim); his daughter, Debbie Tapp (David); granddaughters, Jessica Sharpe and Chelsea Woolums (Evan) and a great-grandson, Samuel Stringer.  

 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ryan Coffey, David Pendley and Sara Robinson officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

RUSSELL KOGER

 

James Russell Koger was born on October 29, 1947. He departed this life on Thursday, May 20, 2021, reaching the age of 73.  

 

On April 29th he married the love of his life, Virginia Koger. He has a loving brother Jack (Marilyn) Koger of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Two nieces Jacqueline Soard and Kamala. Great nieces, Monai Soard-Kerns, Corey Soard, Rose Koger, and Lana Kerns.  

 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clyde and Ollie Mae Koger. A sister Glenna Faye Haynes. A brother Donald Ray Koger. A nephew Kenneth Haynes.  

 

He is survived by his children, James Ricky (Brenda) Koger of Florida, Jeffery Scott (Wilma) Koger of Monticello, Samantha Daniels of Monticello, Dallas Greg Koger of Somerset; six grandchildren, Shadey and Dusty Cole, MaLaya, Dallas and Nichole Koger, and William Chumbley. A loving daughter in law Angela; and two children Rachel and Logan. A host of loving friends and family to mourn his passing.  

 

Russell was devoted to his boating business and his church, Calvary Pentecostal. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He devoted his life to providing the best life for his loving family. He enjoyed going to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Florida. He also liked yard sales and working on boats.  

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

 

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Ernie White and Bro. John Dodd officiating.

 

Entombment will be at Southern Oaks Cemetery.  

 

GERALDINE MIZE

 

Geraldine Mize, an enchanting lady who dressed like every day was a special occasion, right down to her polished fingernails, died of a stroke on May 18, 2021, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was 83. 

 

Born on the Fourth of July to the late James C. Burdine and Olga Decker Burdine in Squib, Kentucky, Geraldine came by her firecracker persona honest. Though short in stature, she was a mighty presence.  

 

Leaning on a lifetime of faith, Geraldine cherished and unwaveringly served the Lord. A Christian, she was a witness to the power and love offered to all by Christ her Savior. She was a member of David’s Fork Baptist Church, active in the choir, and served as a Sunday school teacher in previous years. 

 

Preceded in death by Calvin Mize, husband of 44 years, the two created a loving and hospitable home in Cincinnati where Geraldine served as librarian at St. Bernard-Elmwood Place High School. Like all good southerners, they retired back home in 1988 where they were active in the community. Geraldine served as a charter member of the Rockcastle Kiwanis Club, a Pulaski County victim’s advocate, and as a librarian at Shopville Elementary where she retired for a second time.   

She was a proud graduate of Berea College and continued to obtain her master’s degree from Xavier University. 

 

Along with her parents and husband, Geraldine is preceded in death by brothers James O. Burdine and Charles O. “Kip” Burdine; sisters Bethel Grace Burdine and Mary Gathlyn “Toots” Eldridge; brother-in-law Conley Eugene Mize; and nephews Michael Eldridge, Tim Burdine, and Ronnie Mize.     

She leaves behind sons Jeffery Todd (Jennifer) Mize of Lebanon, OH and Gregory Stuart Mize of Indianapolis, IN; daughter Laura Beth Mize of Lexington, KY; brother David C. (Judy) Burdine of Somerset, KY, sister Aundra “Sis” (CL) Whitaker of Somerset, KY; grandson Garett Michael Mize of Crestview, FL; sisters-in-law Judy (Kip) Burdine of Somerset, KY, and Donna Sue (Jim) Burdine of Somerset, KY; and her sister-at-heart and lifetime best friend, Janice Crabtree Wilson of Xenia, OH. A host of nieces and nephews are also among her cherished fold.  

 

  While those listed above were blessed by blood to call her mother, sister, auntie, and grandma, she held those designations from others who did not acquire the connection by birth, but by her love for them. She was Mom, Auntie Deane, and Grandma Deane to many more ­– some she probably never even realized.  

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with service to begin at 1:00 PM with Reverend Sally Iseral-Shepherd officiating. A gathering will occur for anyone wishing to attend following the service at The Villas in Bronston, Kentucky. Food will be provided and all are welcome.

Josh R. Irvine age 30, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Wednesday, May 19, 2021.  

 

Josh was born September 6, 1990 to James Irvine and Lori Howell Cooper in Somerset, Kentucky. 

He was of the Pentecostal and liked to fish, camp, enjoyed working on cars, traveling and cherished his family. 

 

Josh leaves behind to cherish his memory his father, James Irvine; mother and stepfather, Lori and Ed Cooper; paternal grandmother, Delores Irvine; paternal grandmother, Anita Howell; son, Jayden Robert Irvine; daughters, Hayley Marie Lynn Paige Irvine, Jazzabella Renae Irvine, Juliana Grace Irvine; brothers, James Irvine, Jason Irvine, Johnny Warren, David Debord, Joshua Cooper; sisters, Rebecca Baucom, Heather Warren, Nicole Minderman, Anna Debord, Barbie Keeney, Elizabeth Miller and Tehea Cooper.

FAUSTINE STEVENSON

 

Faustine Margaret Stevenson, age 94, of Somerset passed from this life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Jean Waddle Care Center after an extended illness.   She was born on Friday, October 15, 1926 in Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of the late Hershel McKinley Rainwater and Lola Cooper Rainwater.

 

She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Somerset First Baptist Church.  She was married in 1947 to the late James Homer Stevenson in Byrdstown, Tennessee.  They were blessed with one daughter; Stephanie (Don) Whitehead of Somerset and  two grandchildren; Justin Whitehead of Lexington, Kentucky and Kristen Whitehead of Somerset and one great-granddaughter; Reilly Whitehead and a host of other relatives and friends. 

 

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister; Christine Rainwater Trimble.

She was a kind-hearted, generous and Loving Mother and grandmother, she enjoyed working in her flower garden, birdwatching, and spending time traveling with her senior friends (“The Golden Girls”) Faustine also enjoyed reading her Bible and times of devotion.  She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. 

 

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company. 

 

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 21,  2021 in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Pendley officiating. 

 

Interment will be in the Somerset Cemetery.

Earl Archer age 78, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Jean Waddle Care Center, Hospice of Lake Cumberland. 

 

Earl was born June 8, 1942 to the late Brady Archer and Maude Collins Archer in Beckley, West Virginia. 

 

He liked to play tennis, travel, but most of all cherished his family. 

 

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Archer; sisters, Fran Saylor and Lou Arches. 

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons, Bob Archer (Melissa) of Somerset; Troy Fritz of SC; Randy Fritz of IN; brother, John Archer of Arcanum, OH; grandchildren, Craig Archer (Misty) of Somerset; Caiden Archer and Carson Archer.

GEORGE MAYFIELD

 

George Mayfield, age 63 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at his home.  

 

He was born on August 29, 1957 in Somerset, son of the late Leonard and Otha Ping Mayfield.  

George was a self-employed drywall finisher and a member of Floyd Switch Baptist Church. He liked going fishing and hunting, digging for Ginseng, and grilling out. But most of all, George loved and cherished his family and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James Mayfield, Clovis Mayfield, Clinton Mayfield, and Ralph Mayfield; one sister, Patricia Burton; and a special grandson, T.J. Compton.  

 

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Laura Mayfield; sons, George Paul Mayfield (Amanda), Jordan Lucas Mayfield (Jacqueline Nicole), James Mayfield, and Trevor Mayfield (Ashlee), all of Somerset; daughters, Kathy Lynn Neeley (Joe) of Somerset, Celesta Jean “CJ” Mayfield (John) of Knoxville, TN, and Rhonda Bradley (Steve) of Iowa; brother John Barton Mayfield; sister Mary “Sis” Ramsey; 9 grandsons, 10 granddaughters, 3 great-granddaughters, and 1 great-grandson.

Jonathan Chit Lavender, age 40 of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday May 16th, 2021 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was born in Asheville, N.C. on February 21st, 1981.

 

Jonathan was a self- employed roofer.

Teresa Elaine Coffey TT age 49, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed from this life Monday, May 17, 2021 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. 

 

Teresa was born August 14, 1971 to Garnie Corder and Allie Mason Dick in Somerset, Kentucky. 

 

She was of the Baptist faith and liked to fish, ride ATV’s, camp or do anything outdoors, she had a green thumb, but most of all she loved and cherished her family. 

 

Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Garnie Corder. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her mother and stepfather, Allie and Bobby (Dink) Dick; daughters, Jessica Collins and Abby Coffey (David) both of Somerset; father of her children, James Coffey; brother, Rodney Corder of Whitley City; sisters, Tammie Corder of Eubank; Barbara Partin of Science Hill; grandchildren, Ayden, Ryker, Ellenor, Gavin, KyntLea, Kashton and her beloved fur baby, “Faith”.

Wallace R. Pierce, age 81 of Nancy, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday May 18, 2021 at his spouse’s residence. Wallace was born on June 27, 1939 in Burnetta, Kentucky to the late Linville and Lettie Roberts Pierce. Mr. Pierce was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church.  

 

He worked for Warner fertilizer, Purnia Feed Mill, State Highway Department and was a dairy farmer.  

 

Wallace leaves behind his loving wife and caregiver whom he married on July 21, 2019, Della Dalton Pierce; grandson, Wally (Tasha) Hughes of Nancy, Ky; great grand children, Ethan, Harper and Knoxton; and a brother, Bruce (Cindy) Pierce of Nancy, KY; assisting caregivers, G.E. and Lucille Weddle, David Weddle, and Cindy Pierce. 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mavis Jeree Pierce daughter, Vickie Hughes; and a son in law, Mike Hughes.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann (Mofield) Gaddis; a son, Travis Lee Gaddis of Eubank; a daughter, April Kutey of Somerset; and two sisters, Hattie Dabney of Somerset and Betty Loveless of Science Hill.

Mark Anderson age 52, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Sunday, May 16, 2021 at UK Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. 

 

Mark was born October 21, 1968 to Andrew Anderson and Agnes Sutton Donahue in Erie Pennsylvania. 

 

He liked to swim, play soccer, grill out, collect trains and listen to the radio.  

 

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Anderson; he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Agnes Donahue (James); wife, Teresa Smiley Anderson; sister, Sharon Cronin (James) of Slippery Rock, PA and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Shirley Mae Hodge, 91, of Science Hill, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at her residence.

 

She was born October 24, 1929 in Pomona, California; daughter of the late Jesse & Peggy Irene (Horsewood) Rabun. She was a florist and worked for 25 years for Louise Florist, 12 years for Margaret Flynn's Gift Shop, and was the owner of Hodge's Gallery & Design for 23 years. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by two sons, Johnny Ray & (Anna) Hodge of Norman, Indiana and Archie & (Kim) Hodge of Somerset; a daughter, Linda & (Joe) Afterkirk of Science Hill; six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; twenty-four great-great-grandchildren; three dear friends, Joyce Haste, Linda Ritchie, and Lucille Morgan, all of Science Hill; and her faithful feline companion, Bella Rose.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Roy Hodge, to whom she was married on August 17, 1946 until his passing on June 21, 2000, and four brothers.

Louise C “Nell” Ellington, age 96 of Somerset, passed from this life on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the home of her son in Eubank, Kentucky.

 

She was born on August 26, 1924 in Oakdale, Tennessee, daughter of the late Carl “C. R.” Reed Cash and Ruby Leach Cash.  Nell was of the Baptist Faith and a member of High Street Baptist Church for a number of years.  She was a retired bookkeeper for the Jack Price Accounting Firm after several years of dedicated services. Louise enjoyed spending time with her family, and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

 

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; William P. “Bill” Ellington, who she married on October 2, 1948 in Washington, D. C., two brothers; Lewis Henry Cash and Robert Cash, three sisters; Ruby M. Cash, Juanita Massey and Katherine Street.

 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons; William Bruce Ellington of Somerset, Gary (Retta) Ellington of Eubank, Kentucky, Robert L. Ellington of Florida, and a daughter; Tina Ellington (James) Hutchinson of Lexington, Kentucky, her grandchildren; Gary David Ellington, Jr. William Andrew Ellington, Elijah William Ellington, Kara Ostertag and Rebecca Hutchinson.  Her great-grandchildren; Bryson, Kylie, Micah, Chloe, Isabella, Lily and Natalie Ellington, Brandon and Michael Griffith and one on the way; Paxton William Ellington and a host of other relatives and friends.

BERTHA PHILLIPS

 

Bertha L. Phillips was born on March 30, 1936 in Pulaski County to the late Abb and Elsie Lowery Hill. She was married to Charles Lloyd Phillips on October 24, 1954, He preceded her in death on May 17, 2007.  

 

She is survived by her children, Deborah and Thurman Wallace of Burnside, Ky; Jeff and Angela Phillips of Monticello, Ky; Sandra Mink of Somerset and Jennifer Brashears of Science Hill. Eleven grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews who love her and will miss her.  

 

Along with her spouse and parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Lura Roberts and Lena Haynes; brothers, Abb Jr. Hill, Hobert Hill, Johnny Hill, Arnold Hill, Roy Hill, Clyde Hill, Gilbert Hill; three sons, Charles Phillips, Gregory Phillips, Danny Johnson and one great-grandson, Lincoln Wallace.

Marlene Rodgers Tucker, of Russell Springs, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021, at her home.  She was 73 years of age.

 

Marlene was born on September 29, 1947, in Danville, only child born to the late Ora and Jessie Henson Rodgers.  She married Elvis Tucker on November 4, 1967.  They shared 50 years together, with Marlene as the perfect help mate to Bro. Elvis, as a pastor’s wife and working side by side on the family farm.  She was a homemaker who loved to travel.  Marlene was a member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her children, Matthew Tucker (and Emily Russell), of Russell Springs, and Lynette Whittle, of Russell Springs; and her grandchildren, Jacob Dick (and Julie), of Beaumont, Texas, and Justin Tucker and Jordan Tucker, both of Columbia.

 

Along with her parents, Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Bro. Elvis Tucker, who passed away January 27, 2017.

Carol Diana Wilson, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Danville, KY.

 

Born August 18, 1946, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Cleo Passmore Poff. Carol was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was retired from OshKosh B’Gosh. Carol enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning.

 

Survivors include her husband, Garland Wilson, whom she wed on June 4, 1962; daughter, Charlene (and Jason) Bryant of Liberty; sons, Randy (and Cheryl) Wilson, Richard (and Barbara) Wilson, and Randal (and Becci) Wilson, all of Liberty; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other children that Carol helped raise over the years.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, Andy, Eugene, and Vernon Poff; and sisters, Pearl Martin, Evelyn Mason, Ina Emerson, Lillian Kay Passmore, and Juanita Thompson.

GLADYS CALHOUN

 

Gladys Pearl “Bug” Calhoun was born May 9, 1926, in Ingle, KY. She was the daughter of the late George Thomas Morris and Amanda Belle Wheat Rainwater Morris. She was married to James Robert Calhoun on December 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1961.

 

Gladys was a homemaker who would do anything for the people she loved and never let anyone leave her home hungry. She loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was sixteen years old and she was of the Baptist faith.

 

Survivors include, one daughter, Betty (and Mike) Griffis; one son, Ronald Calhoun both of Somerset, KY; thirteen grandchildren, Theresa(and Curtis) Babiar of Redondo Beach, CA, Jamie Calhoun, Kelley Calhoun both of Torrance, CA, Cali Calhoun of Burnside, KY, Haley Calhoun of Denver, CO, Robert(and Liz) Calhoun of Covington, KY, Jessica Grundy of VT, Anna Calhoun of Somerset, KY, Donnie Jones of Norwood, OH, James, Joseph(and Hope) Griffis of Lake Milton, OH, Stephen(and Kindra) Griffis of Somerset, KY, C.T Calhoun of NY, and Amanda Baker of IL; seventeen great-grandchildren, Donnie, Devon, Alexis, Storm, Braydon, Addylin, Faith, Harmony, Judson, Silas, Marshall, Mercy, Hudson, Cooper, Preston, Clark, and Easton; four former daughters-in-law, Diana Calhoun, Kim Calhoun, Linda Jones, and Shela Warhorse; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who love her and will miss her.

Bonnie Sue Mills, age 52, of Somerset, KY., passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

Bonnie was born on May 15, 2021 in New Castle, IN., to Wanda Baker Buxton and the late Bobby Dean Poynter. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Dingo.

 

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Mills of Somerset, KY; her mother, Wanda Baker (and Jack) Buxton of Somerset; two stepsons, Chris (and Christy) Mills of Somerset and Travis (and Amy Caldwell) Mills of Somerset; two brothers, Bobby Poynter of Eubank and Brian Poynter of Eubank; her twin sister, Velinda Hill of Somerset and a sister, Sheila (and Rick) Payne of Somerset.

 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Dean Poynter.

Rebecca C. Chaney, 79, of Eubank, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her residence.

 

She was born June 26, 1941 in Dykes, Kentucky; daughter of the late Nolan Lee & Zona Marie (Dykes) Farmer. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.

 

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Ralph Chaney; three sons, William Gordon & (Angela) Chaney of Science Hill, Russell Eugene & (Mysti) Chaney of Danville, and Steven Harold & (Beth) Chaney of West Chester, Ohio; two daughters, Rebecca Jo & (Jeff) Burton of Waynesburg and Lisa Chaney of Eubank; five brothers, Marlow Famer, Boone & (Anne) Farmer, Johnny & (Faye) Farmer, Donald & (Mae) Farmer, and Jerry & (Carolyn) Farmer; two sisters, Bertha Meece and Shirley Bullock; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Trellis Farmer; and two grandchildren, Jerad Burton and Mark Chaney.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Chaney & Bro. Michael Hail officiating.

ELLA PHELPS

 

Ella B Phelps, age 91, of Stanford, KY, and formerly of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. 

 

Ella B was born on December 22, 1929 in Pulaski County to the late, Walter Hargis and Golda Speaks Hargis.  She was a member of Whetstone Baptist Church.   Ella B loved to quilt, work in her flowers, spending time with her family and especially reading her Bible. 

 

She is survived by one son, Mike (and Linda) Phelps of Somerset; four daughters, Janet (and Bob) Weaver of Stanford, Joan (and Elvis) McKenzie of Somerset, Judy (and Mike) Woods of Somerset and Jill (and Ronnie) Hawk of Somerset; three sisters, Gladys Whitaker, Nadine (and Wayne Lee) Phelps and Jetta (and Wayne) Richardson, all of Somerset; one brother-in-law, Carlos Hargis of Somerset; two sisters-n-law, Mavis Hargis of Somerset and Joann Hargis of Somerset; five grandchildren, Suzie (and Michael) Burdine, Kim Meece, Kevin (and Courtney) Woods, Adam Phelps, and Brian (and Teresa) Hawk;  ten great grandchildren, Brittany Chaney, Emily Meece, Charles Hawk, Scott Hawk, Brylee Burdine, Brandon Hawk, Jolee Woods, Jaxon Woods, Braxton Woods and Kinlee Woods; and many nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.   

 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip James Phelps who preceded her on December 6, 2001; three brothers, Howard Hargis, Harold Hargis and Wayne Hargis; four sisters, Imogene Stogstill, Christene Hargis, Vera Hargis and Violet Hargis; one grandson, Shawn Hawk; and one grandson-in-law, Anthony Meece.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

 

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Sewell  and Bro. Daniel Woodcock officiating.

Iva Dean Richardson Strevels, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 83.

 

Born on April 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Geneva Patterson Richardson. Iva Dean was a retired from OshKosh. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed playing piano and writing songs.

ALGER FOSTER JR.

 

Alger Lynn Foster, Jr., better known as Bugs, left us on May 5, 2021, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital with his family by his side.

 

Bugs was born on October 19, 1959 in Cincinnati, Oh to Alger Lynn Foster Sr. and Patricia Thompson Foster.  Bugs met and married the love of his life, Tammy Smith Foster, on May 2, 1981 in Covington, KY.  During their 40 years of marriage, they relocated to Somerset and was blessed with four kids, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

 

Bugs loved playing musical instruments in his free time.  He was very talented in playing almost any instrument he picked up.  He also enjoyed watching Westerns, playing with his grandkids, and collecting guns and guitars.  Bugs was well known for his pig headed stubborn nature, and loved to aggravate and display his fun sense of humor.  Bugs loved his kids and grandkids dearly, and enjoyed having them in his presence.  He was a dedicated family man.

 

Bugs was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Jean Foster Napier; and one brother, Herbert Lee Foster.

 

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Smith Foster of Somerset; two sons, Kevin (and Tonya) Foster of Hustonville and Matthew (and Laura) Foster of Somerset; two daughters, Ashley (and Dwight) Harris of Somerset and Carrie (and James) Loveless of Science Hill; grandchildren, Makayla, Amber, Kelsey, Jamie, Katlyn, Mason, Shelby and Dwight; one great grandson, Asher; four siblings, Alpha (and Brian) Whitter of Eubank, Sue (and Greg) Ashley of Eubank, Grace (and Wendell) Foster of Eubank and Paul (and Norma) Foster of Somerset; and Bugs had a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

 

Visitation will be on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

DORENE TARTER

 

Dorene Tarter, daughter of the late Elcus and Rosa Clifton Floyd was born July 27, 1932 and she departed this life on May 6, 2021 at the Jean Waddle Care Center having attained the age of 88 years.

 

She was united in marriage to Mr. Logan Tarter, he preceded her in death on May 14, 2019.

 

Survivors include; one daughter, Karen R. Johnson of Nancy, KY; and a granddaughter, Angela M. Johnson.

 

Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by; three sisters, Glenna Tarter, Zinnie Todd and Geneva Rice.

 

She was a kind Christian lady. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, working in her flowers and working in her garden.

 

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Pulaski Funeral Home.

 

Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

DAVID SHORES

 

David Curtis Shores, age 53, of Camilla, Georgia formerly of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 in Georgia. 

 

He was born on January 2, 1968 in Jacksonville, Florida, son of the late Curtis Shores and Betty Fuller Shores.  David was a roofer and contractor in the Construction business for a number of years.  He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed playing the drums and became an accomplished drummer.  David also enjoyed traveling and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; Curtis Shores and Betty Fuller Shores.

 

David is survived by his wife; Kathy Nicklas Shores and their two sons; Tommy Shores and David Shores, Jr. all of Somerset and daughter; Brittany Shores and her fiancé’ Zack Baker of  Wilmore, Kentucky.  He is also survived by two other sons; Cody Shores of Jacksonville, Florida and Hunter Shores of Somerset, a sister; Diana Shores of Jacksonville, Florida and a granddaughter; Lyla Baker of Wilmore, Kentucky as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Patricia “Pauline” Placke, age 83, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

Pauline was born on July 16, 1937 in Pulaski County to the late James H. Ledbetter and Mary Farmer Ledbetter.  She retired from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital as an LPN.  Pauline enjoyed working in her yard and she loved her roses.  She was a member of East Somerset Baptist Church. 

 

She is survived by her son, Christopher (and Debra) Placke of Little River Academy, TX; two grandchildren, Christopher David Placke and Joseph Anthony Placke; two nieces, Pat Ping and Sharon Stevens; and one nephew, Larry Dye.

 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Ledbetter; and four sisters, Dorothy Meece, Esther Hoss, Ruby Mounce and Vena Henson.

 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00am at Lakeside Memorial Gardens with Bro. Tony Hall officiating.

Zelene Aundra Cooper, 84, of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Jean Waddle Care Center.

 

She was born March 19, 1937 in Frazier, Kentucky; daughter of the late Robert C. & Mollie (Cooper) Copenhaver. She worked as a secretary for Time Finance and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Jolly Red Hatters, Senior Friends, and the Young at Heart.

 

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gene Cooper and two nephews, Earl Ray Kelsay and Raymond Wayne Copenhaver.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Raymond, & Arnold Copenhaver; and three sisters, Evelyn Irene Kelsay, Pearl Flynn, and Jean Copenhaver.

William Allen Blackwell age 61, of Bronston, Kentucky passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021. 

 

He is survived by 3 children, John William Blackwell, age 29 of Bronston; Richard Cody Blackwell age 26, of Russell Springs; and Tabitha Shae Blackwell, age 30 of Russell Springs. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Zoey Keith and Jaxson Keith of Campbellsville, a forth coming grandson, Kyler William Jay Blackwell of Bronston; and a very special friend, he loved like a brother, Kenny Strunk of Bronston.  

He is preceded in death by the late John Richard Blackwell and Bettie Jane Blackwell. 

 

He liked to play horseshoes, golf and watch the Chicago Cubs. He cherished his family.

Lula Pauline Roy age 85, of Nancy, Kentucky passed from this life Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home. 

 

Lula was born August 2, 1935 to the late Curtis Reeves and Ethel Mae Hudleston Reeves in Williamsburg, Kentucky. 

 

She was a member of Cedar Point Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers, music and liked to sing.  

 

Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Ethel Reeves; her husband, Ronald Roy; brother, Curtis Reeves; sister, Wanda Louise Hensley; brother-in-laws, Paris Jack Carter and Ray Hensley; sister-in-law, Peggy Reeves, and grandson, Gregory Roy Jr. 

 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Greg Roy of Somerset; daughter, Pamela Dunn (Kirk) of Science Hill; sister, Jean Carter of Cocoa Beach, FL; brother, Lawrence Reeves (Norma) of Bristol, VA; grandchildren, Yvonne Nicole Roy, Ashley Roy Whittle (Chris), Amber Roy, Christopher Roy (Kendra), Jeremy Grundy, Shannon Dunn (Amanda), Natasha Dunn and 17 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Barbara Daulton, age 64, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab.

 

Barbara was born on September 8, 1956 in Naomi, KY to the late Burt Lee Daulton and Rose Anna Daws Daulton.  She was raised in Naomi Nazarene Church where she loved attending.  Barbara worked as a cashier at Fish-N-Ski for over twenty five years.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles and dancing. 

 

She is survived by one son, Jason K. Johnson (and Melissa Layton) of Nancy; her former husband, Ronald K. Johnson of Nancy; one brother, Winford (and Alene) Daulton of Fairmount, IN; one sister-in-law, Candice Matthews; three sisters, Lois Jean (and Wendell) Baize of Crown Point, IN, Diane (and James) Nevels of Springfield, MO and Betty Armstrong of Science Hill; five grandchildren, Adam Lee Johnson (and Ashley Surman), Bradley Keith Johnson (and Amanda Gaddis), Jacob Andrew Johnson, Haylie Dawn Johnson and Allie Rose; nine great grandchildren, Seraha Cook, Evyn Lee Johnson, Neveah Johnson, Cason Surman, Tanner Lee Keith Brown, Conner Sears, Harmony Cook, Aurora Stringer and Asher Ping; and many nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Jackie (and Dave) Durham of Somerset.

Eria Dean Redford Mumea, age 86, of Somerset, KY, went to be with Jesus on Monday, May 3, 2021 at her home and the Hardwick family circle is now complete.

 

Eria was born on May 13, 1934 in Nancy, KY to the late Luther Edward Hardwick and Mary Elizabeth Burton Hardwick. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. 

 

She is survived by one son, Ed (and Wanda) Mumea of Somerset; two daughters, Anita (and Stephen) May of Burnside and Lisa Merritt of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Colby Burdine, Kira Eve May, Steven James May, Amanda Merritt, Brandon Merritt, Megan Rose and Richard Austin Rose; and seven great grandchildren.

 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jr. Hardwick, Ray Hardwick and Ellis Hardwick; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Hardwick, Ruby Hardwick and Helen Hardwick; one nephew, Bobby Hardwick; and two nieces Tina Maddin and Margaret Kaye.

Charles Delbert Wells, 75, of Eubank, Kentucky passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at his residence.

 

He was born in Mt. Victory, Kentucky on December 14, 1945; son of the late William Jesse and Audrey Sears Wells. He worked Davis Construction. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served for three years; and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

 

He is survived by two children; two grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him.

 

He was preceded in death by jis parents; two brothers; and a half brother.

 

A private graveside service was held Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Mt. Victory Cemetery.

Drusilla “Faye” F. Mounce age 68, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 

 

Faye was born July 22, 1952 to the late Earl Logsdon and Lavern Marcum Baccus in Louisville, Kentucky. 

 

She was of the Baptist faith, a Kentucky Colonel; she enjoyed singing, playing bingo, she called herself a “tough ole’ bird” and loved spending time with her family. 

 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Cornett; brothers, Earl Logsdon, Randy Logsdon, Wayne Logsdon.

 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 38 years, Kermit Mounce; sons, Charles (Sheri) Bolin of Somerset; Same (Angela) Cornett of Somerset; Robert Bolin (Susie Boyd) of Somerset; sister, Amy (Jeff) Daniels of Jeffersonville, IN; grandchildren, Samantha, Aniah, Anna, Alissa, Sambo, Steven, Derrick, Dustin, special granddaughter, Sierra Cornett, special grandson, Jacob Cornett, along with several others and great-grandchildren.

Jason Mitchell Griffith, age 49, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home.  

 

He was born on April 19, 1972 in Monticello, Kentucky, son of the late Dock Henderson and Katherine J. Stringer Griffith.  

 

Jason was a community servant. He retired from the City of Somerset Police Department, after having served 22 years as a dedicated Police Officer. He was also a Licensed Respiratory Therapist, and graduated from Morehead University. He loved to go hunting, but most of all he loved his family. Jason was to marry the love of his life, Chasity, on June 12, 2021. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving son, Reece Henderson Griffith; his brother, Kevin “Hobo” Griffith and stepbrother, Steve Pittman.  

 

He is survived by two sons; Devin Griffith and Jaxx Griffith, both of Somerset; fiancé, Chasity Torres of Somerset; brothers, Harold Pittman of Somerset and John (Lynn) Pittman of Somerset; sisters, Sherry Lewis and Janice (Dr. Mike) Thomas all of Somerset, and Sue Hager of Mt Sterling; grandchildren, Henley Reece Griffith and Landyn Chase Brown; nephew Kayden Pittman; stepdaughters, Kaylee Brown and Savannah Torres, both of Somerset, childhood friends, Shannon Woodall and Rodney Stevens; and a host of other family and friends.

ANNA HAMPTON

 

Anna Lee Hampton, age 90, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.

 

Anna was born on March 2, 1931 in London, KY to the late Simon Peter Adams and Susie Lou Robinson Adams.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Burnside and she sang with the Heaven Bound Singers.  Anna enjoyed gospel music, cooking, managing restaurants, UK ballgames, embroidery and crocheting.  She especially loved spending time with her family. 

 

She is survived by three sons, Harold (and Tina) Hampton of Burnside, Gary Michael (and Margie) Hampton of Somerset and Rickey Lee (and Mandy) Hampton of Lexington; two brothers, Donnie Adams of Newport Ritchie, FL and Russell (and Peggy) Adams of Trenton, OH; one brother-in-law, Lonnie (and Barbara) Hampton of London; one sister, Juanita (and Steve) Wright of Hamilton, OH; one sister-in-law, Ruby Hutchison of Wayne County; six grandchildren, Mona Hampton, Joseph Hampton, Mikkle Hampton, Rebekah Simpson, Elisabeth Hardy and Madison Hampton; and several great grandchildren, Anthony Pence, Nathaniel Pence, Max Hampton, Andrew Hampton, Laci Russell, Nova Hampton, Adeline Hampton, Malakkai Hampton, Jeremiah Mikkle Hampton, Zealand Hampton, Jacob Simpson, Rhiannon Simpson, Catherine Hardy, James Hardy, Claire Hardy, Rachel Hardy, Ciara Hampton and Jaecie Hampton. 

 

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hampton, whom she married on October 15, 1948 and he preceded her on March 10, 2004; three brothers, Elmer Adams, Ernest Adams and Charles Adams; one sister, Ruth Wallen; and one great grandson, Kayden Hampton. 

 

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

 

Her funeral service will be be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Pastor David Pendley and Pastor Mikkle Hampton officiating. 

 

Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Joseph Hampton, Mikkle Hampton, Anthony Pence, Jonathan Hardy, Nathaniel Pence, Max Hampton and Jacob Simpson. 

 

R.V. PERKINS

 

R.V. Perkins, age 88, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his residence.

 

R.V. was born on January 27, 1933 in Ono, KY to the late George Perkins and Ina Popplewell Perkins.  He was a member of the Christian Home Separate Baptist Church in Jabez.  He traveled around for over 40 years singing in the gospel group – The Perkins Family.  R.V. enjoyed fishing, building things, farming, and walking his granddog, Emily. 

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Lavern Polston Perkins, whom he married on November 28, 1953 in Russell County; one son, Kenny V. (and Lana) Perkins of Somerset; two daughters, Lanna Gay (and Hiram) Draughn of Nancy and Janna Kay (and Marty) Gaines of Nancy; one brother, Roger (and Freda) Perkins of Russell Springs; three sisters, Janice (and Ronnie) Decker of Somerset, Hattie Hughes of Russell Springs and Norma Ramlow of Russell Springs; six grandchildren, Kyle (and Katara) Perkins, Jamie (and Jeremy) Burke, Kendra Whittle (and Brian), Dustin (and Brittany) Whittle, Tarah Gaines (and James) and Katie Arlene Perkins; and five great-grandchildren, Harper Haynes, Hannah Burke, Bryson Carroll and Lucy Marie Perkins and soon to be born, Joel Rylee Haynes.

 

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Perkins; three brothers, Junior Perkins, Clifford Perkins and Kenzel Perkins; one infant brother, Cosby Perkins; one sister, Brenda Henderson; and two infant sisters, Wanda Perkins and Betty Perkins.

 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

 

His funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Polston and Bro. Mark Polston officiating. 

 

Burial will be at Military Springs Cemetery in Jabez.

 

IMOGENE BYRD

Imogene Byrd, age 89 of Liberty, KY passed away on Monday May 3rd, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Casey Co., KY on October 18th, 1931 a daughter of the late Lloyd Dye and Mary Roberts Dye Clements.

 

Imogene was the widow of Chester Byrd.

 

Imogene was a housewife and attended Thomas Ridge Christian Church.

 

Survivors include: One Son: Ricky and (Sondra) Byrd of Liberty, One Daughter: Mary Lee Buis of Liberty and One Grandson: Jessie and (Emma) Byrd of Liberty

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was One Sister: Josephine Smith.

 

A Walk Thru Visitation will be held 12:00 Noon Friday May 7th, 2021 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Funeral Services will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday May 7th, 2021 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sherman Floyd officiating.

 

Burial will be in the South Fork.;  Cemetery.

CRYSTAL HOLBROOK

 

Crystal Elaine Holbrook, age 56, of Bronston, KY, passed away on Saturday, May, 1, 2021 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

Crystal was born on October 21, 1964 in Covington, KY to Mildred Barkley Stephens and the late William E. Holbrook.  She was a Youth worker for the Crittenden Kentucky Correctional Facility.

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Barkley Stephens of Bronston; three brothers, William Mitchell Holbrook of Bronston, Alonzo Dale Holbrook of Covington, KY and Gary Summers of TN; four sisters, Eva Catherine Miller of Sanders, KY, Elizabeth Kaye Stephens of Florence, KY, Lilly May Crabtree of Somerset and Violet Jewell Downing of OH; and several nieces and nephews whom she helped raise.

She was preceded in death by her father, William E. Holbrook; and three brothers, Lilburn Scott Holbrook, Marty Joe Holbrook and Johnny Edward Holbrook.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will follow on Thursday at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Elizabeth Kaye Stephens officiating.


Burial will be at Bronston Cemetery.

 

GREGORY DALE LYNN

Gregory Dale Lynn, age 54 of Liberty, KY passed away on Friday April 30th, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Liberty, KY on August 4th, 1966 a son of Ivy Earl “Buddy” Lynn and Myrtle King Lynn both of Liberty.

 

Gregory was a mechanic and welder.

 

Additional Survivors include: His Companion: Rita Hale, Two Sons: Donnie Lynn of Lexington and Jordan Lynn of Liberty, One Step Daughter: Amanda Monday of Liberty, Two Grandchildren, Two Brothers: Tim Lynn of F. Wayne, IN and Steve Lynn of Liberty and Two Sisters: Cassie Lynn of English, IN and Cindy Wright of Liberty.

 

Preceding him in death was Two Brothers: Donnie and Ricky Lynn.

 

A Walk Thru Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday May 5th, 2021 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.
