JAMES LARRY MARTIN

James Larry Martin, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, in Kings Mountain, Kentucky. He was 77.

 

Born on September 21, 1943, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Hayden and Villa Marie Wilson Martin. Larry was the first employee of the East Casey County Water District. He was a member of the Craftsman Masonic Lodge #722, Casey Masonic Lodge #424, and Order of the Eastern Star. Larry was also a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding around, and hanging out at the water office. He loved his dog, Bandit. Larry was baptized at an early age.

 

Larry is survived by two daughters, Paula (Jerry) Hefner of North Vernon, IN and Karen (Randy) Roy of Liberty; two sons, James Phillip (Rhonda) Martin and Kenneth Mark Martin, both of Liberty; a sister-in-law, Emojean Hampton of Liberty; and a brother, Billy R. Martin, of Liberty. Other survivors include five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Susan Evans, Samantha Brown, and Gadberry Boarding Home.

 

In addition to his parents, Larry is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Hampton Martin, who passed away on January 30, 1998; and five brothers, Monroe Martin, Woody Martin, Donald Martin, Murl Martin, and Melvin Martin.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Goodin officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 30, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be held at 7:00 P.M. ROBERT LEON COLEMAN

Robert Leon Coleman age 75 of Yosemite, KY passed away on Wednesday October 28th, 2020 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was born in White Co., IN on March 5th, 1945 a son of the late Marvin and Reba Bea Wall Coleman.

 

Leon was a former employee of Inter County RECC, a farmer and a U.S. Army Veteran.

 

Survivors include: His Spouse: Patricia Ann Stanaford Coleman, Two Daughters: Jennifer Ann Coleman and Robin and (Steve) Combs of Crab Orchard and One Grandson: Devin Reynolds.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was One Grandson: Derek Coleman and Two Brothers: Marvin Devon Coleman and Laurel Dean Coleman.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 31st, 2020 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

JUDY CAMPBELL WETHINGTON

 

Judith “Judy” Anne Campbell Wethington, 73, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 surrounded by her family at home.

 

She was a retired office manager for Misa Metal Processing of KY and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Judy enjoyed her family, tv and volunteering at her church.

 

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, James Otis and Martha Mae Campbell.

 

She is survived by her loving daughters, Stephanie Hodge (Jay) and Michelle So; grandchildren, Samantha Crick (Jimmy), Jordan Ramsey (Chris), Julia Hodge and Jenna So.; great-grandchildren, J.P., Adaley and Harper; brother, Gary Campbell (Shirley); and nephews, James and Seth Campbell.

 

Her celebration of life Mass will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 5075 State Hwy 551 in Clementsville, KY with burial in St. Bernard Cemetery.

 

Visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr. Louisville, KY.

 

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Twice Blessed at St. Thomas More Church.

OPAL A. ABELL

Opal A. Abell, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Liberty Care Center. She was 99 years of age.

 

Born on April 22, 1921, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Mary A. Mills Taylor. Opal wed Neil Abell on February 4, 1938. She was a homemaker and former co-owner of Neil Abell’s Grocery. Opal was a strong woman of God. She was the last surviving charter member of Rheber Church of the Nazarene, where she served as song leader and Sunday School teacher in years past. Opal loved to sing and play her guitar at church. She also enjoyed babysitting, quilting, crocheting, and working with her flowers. Most of all, Opal was a loving mother and grandmother.

 

Opal is survived by one son, James Michael Abell of Dunnville; one daughter, Shirley Ann (Garland) Allen of Liberty; eleven grandchildren, Kimberly (Perry) Dobbs, Melissa (Barry) Murphy, Bobbie (Tommy) Vest, Natasha (Brian) Smith, Shavahn (Matt) Wesley, Mickey Abell, Becky (Todd) Pendleton, Mindy Abell (Mark Stuart), Robbie (Stacy) Abell, Micah Abell, and Jody Michael Abell; 21 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, William C. “Neil” Abell, who passed away on March 29, 1983; two sons, Donnie Abell and Joseph Burl Abell; three brothers, C.D. Taylor, Lilburn Taylor, and Acie Taylor; and three sisters, Lottie Cain, Gracie Davis, and Stella Rubarts.

 

Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 29, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Brother Perry Dobbs officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

ELAINE HITER JONES

Elaine Hiter Jones age 71 of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday October 25th, 2020 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born in Casey County, KY on December 29, 1948 a daughter of the late Louie B. and Lela Beatrice Patton Hiter.


Elaine was the widow of Everett David Jones.


Elaine was a former quality auditor of OshKosh.


Survivors include: Two Sons: David Stephen and (Misty) Jones of Jacksboro, TN and Everett Daniel Jones of Liberty, Three Grandchildren: Amanda and (Brandon) Gilpin, David Jones and Travis Wethington and (Kayla), Five Great Grandchildren: Bradley, JohnnyRay and Grady Gilpin, Montana and Izayiah Jones, One Sister: Betty McCormick of Liberty, One Brother: Donnie and (Imogene) Hiter of Alabama and One Half Sister: Teresa of Louisville, KY.


Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was her Step-Mother: Fern Passmore Hiter, Two Brothers: Roy and Steven Hiter, One Half Sister: Kathy and Two Half Brothers: Larry Curry and Michael Hiter.

DONNA LOU ROBERTS BYRD WARFIELD

Donna Lou Roberts Byrd Warfield passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Summerfield Health and Rehab in Louisville. She was 65.

 

Born on May 24, 1955, in Danville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Dock and Effie Rainwater Roberts. Donna retired from Osram Sylvania after thirty-five plus years of service. She also enjoyed her time being a bus monitor for the Fayette County School System for ten years. Donna was of the Baptist faith. She kept in close contact with all her friends in Casey County throughout her life.

 

She is survived by a son, R.C. Byrd of Frankfort; two sisters, Brenda (Henry) White of Elizabethtown and Dori Roberts (Bill) Tompkins of Georgetown; two nephews, Luke Tompkins and Vin Streeval; a great-niece, Sommer Streeval; and a great-nephew, Bradley Wyatt.

 

In addition to her parents, Donna is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Roberts Streeval; and a nephew, Matthew White.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Molden officiating.

MARCILLE WILKERSON

Marcille Wilkerson, of Dunnville, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at her home. She was 91.

 

Born on June 12, 1929, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie Childress Luttrell. Marcille was a homemaker. She was the oldest living lifetime member of Thomas Ridge Christian Church. She loved singing at church. Marcille lived in the Thomas Ridge area most of her life. She enjoyed farming with her husband.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Connie (Ronald) Lee of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son, Dennis (Karrell) Wilkerson of Liberty; a daughter in law, Jo Wilkerson of Fairfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, Michelle, Kimberly, Jonathan, Kelly, and Jamie; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Odean Clements of Ohio and Versie Terry of Dunnville; a brother, Sherill Luttrell of Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Wilkerson, who passed away on December 10, 2001; a son, Danny Wilkerson; two sisters, Lorene Monday and Lois Emerson; and two brothers, Arlis Luttrell and Donald Luttrell.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating.

PATRICIA ANN "PAT" MONDAY

Patricia Ann “Pat” Monday, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Liberty Care Center. She was 68 years of age.

 

Born July 21, 1952, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Louie and Marilyn McDonald Foster. Pat was a homemaker and an UK Basketball fan. She enjoyed watching soap operas, westerns and wrestling. Pat also was an animal lover.

 

Survivors include six sisters, Rose (George) Gribbins of Bradfordsville, Brenda (Paul) Buis of Stanford, Marlene (Lowell) Wilson of Liberty, Carolyn (Larry) Friend of Danville, Wanda (Carl) Graybeal of Bradfordsville, and Abby Grimes of Moreland; one brother, Kalap (Andrea) Foster of Acton; four grandchildren, Gracie Monday, Jason Monday, Tyler Monday, and Amber Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Monday, who passed away October 18, 2005; and two sons, Jason Lee Monday and Patrick Gerald Monday.

Timothy Garnett Pittman age 54 of Yosemite, KY passed away on Sunday October 18th, 2020. He was born in Liberty, KY on September 2nd, 1966 a son of Joyce Hogue and (Kenneth) Sharp of Bethelridge, KY and the late Garnett Lee Pittman.

 

Timothy was a truck driver for Neats.

WILLIAM CLIFTON "DUCK" WETHINGTON

William Clifton “Duck” Wethington, Sr., of Clementsville, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the University of Louisville Hospital.  He was 86 years of age.

 

Born on April 30, 1934, in Clementsville, KY, he was a son of the late Alphonsus “Duck” Wethington and Angela “Ann” Wethington. He was a US Navy Veteran and 1960 Bellarmine University graduate. He retired from the purchasing department at Dupont in Louisville. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed betting the horse races. Mr. Wethington was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a former PTA President at Guardian Angels Parish Schools in Louisville.

 

Survivors include three sons, William C. Wethington, Jr. (and wife, Fay) of Taylorsville, Gerry Wethington of Clementsville, and Greg Wethington of Louisville; one daughter, Beth (Steve) Oppel of Fisherville; six grandchildren, Brandee Wethington, Jessica Whitlock, Jacob Wethington, Alexandria Wethington, Cody Oppel, and Leah Oppel; three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Austin, and Amelia; and step-grandchildren, Anjelica Gash and Rebecca Gash.

 

In addition to her parents, Clifton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty-Lou Gordon Wethington, who passed away on September 4, 2019; and siblings, Jim “Duck” Wethington, Elaine Wethington, and Anna Jean Williams.

 

Mass of Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father George Otuma officiating. 

 

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard.

Iva Dean Murphy Price, of Williamstown, Kentucky, formerly of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was 93 years of age.

 

Born May 26, 1927, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Willie B. and Ora Wall Murphy. Iva Dean was a homemaker and a member of Valley Oak Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends.

 

Survivors include two sons, Gary Paul (and Pam) Price of Kettering, Ohio and Larry Dean (and Regina) Price of Westchester, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nicole Hubert, Glen Price, Marcy Lachenman, and Theresa Miracle; six great-grandchildren, Jonah Hubert, Noah Hubert, Ella Rose Hubert, Kaylee Price, Garrett Price, and Terry Nicklas; and one great-great-granddaughter, Peyton Nicklas. Iva Dean is also survived by a special niece and caregiver, Carol Durham; four special friends, Mary Lou Carman, Barbara Tucker, Don Ware, and John Warren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, Iva Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Price, who passed away on July 30, 2003; two sons, Terry Wayne Price and Jerry Timothy Price; one grandson, Gary Price; three brothers, Talmage Murphy, Russell Murphy, and J.T. Murphy; and two sisters, Maureen Durham and Shirley Spaw.

RETHA MAE WILHAM DAVENPORT

Retha Mae Wilham Davenport, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. She was 89.

 

Born on April 5, 1931, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Stella Moran Wilham. Retha was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and flowers. She loved children and being a Mom and a Grandma.

 

Retha is survived by two sons, Timothy (Artie) Davenport of Liberty and Paul (Kathy) Davenport of Windsor; two grandchildren, Chad (Sara) Davenport of Liberty and Brandon (Beth) Davenport of Windsor; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Levi Davenport and Abigail Kate Davenport. She is also survived by a special great-nephew, Justin (Ellie) Wilham of Lexington.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Richard Davenport, who passed away on November 17, 2008; two brothers, Delmer Ray Wilham and Harold Dean Wilham; and a sister, Demaris Bartone.

 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Spaw officiating.

John S. Wethington age 70 of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday October 11th, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Campbellsville, KY on January 23rd, 1950 a son of the late James M. and Mary Anita Wethington.

 

John was a truck driver for Green River Gate and a U.S. Navy Veteran.

ETHEL LUCILLE SOUTHERLAND LUTTRELL

Ethel Lucille Southerland Luttrell, 82, passed away Tuesday October 6, 2020 at Landmark of Danville Nursing Center. 

 

Born May 8, 1938 in Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sidney Mae Wilson Southerland. Lucille was a former nursing aide at Casey County Hospital and a former member of South Fork Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Burton and two brothers, William and Henry Wayne Southerland.

TANYA ANN PREWITT

Tanya Ann Prewitt age 43 of Liberty, KY passed away on Monday October 5th, 2020 at Baptist Health in Lexington.

 

She was born in Danville, KY on March 5th, 1977 a daughter of Cheryl Ann Dunham Roy and the late Roger Dale Roy.

 

Tanya was a former employee of Bruss North America.

 

Additional Survivors include: Her Spouse: Charles Ray Prewitt and One Son: Hayden Michael Abston and (Haley Durham) of Chattanooga, TN.

 

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Thursday October 8th, 2020 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday October 9th, 2020 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Double Springs Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Bartle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

NANCY "LEO" WETHINGTON

Nancy “Leo” Wethington, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020, at her home. She was 89.

 

Born July 29, 1931, in Casey County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Laura Wethington. She retired after 30 years as a Head Start Teacher in Casey County. Nancy enjoyed playing the 101 card game, dancing, farming, and her flowers. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church.

 

Survivors include her sons, Gary (Emma) Wethington and Bobby (Sheila) Wethington, both of Liberty; daughters, Beverly Burress of Liberty, Connie (Keith) Hayes of Elkhorn, Marsha Wethington of Louisville, and Sandy Wethington of Liberty; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she wed on April 19, 1952, Marion ”Boss” Wethington; 7 brothers; 2 sisters; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Rose Chadwell.

 

Funeral mass will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Patrick Dolan and Father George Otuma officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Please follow social distancing guidelines and be mindful that masks are required in the church.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, October 5, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00PM. Please enter through the front doors (Campbellsville Street) side when you arrive for visitation. Facial coverings MUST be worn. Please be mindful of social distancing guidelines.

MARTHA MAE WETHINGTON

Martha Mae Wethington Campbell, formerly of Casey County, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at her residence. She was 89.

 

Born on October 11, 1930, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Thaddeus and Lena Mae Murphy Wethington. Martha was a retired seamstress from Fruit of the Loom after thirty-four years. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She loved reading, music, and spending time with her family.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Wethington of Louisville; a son, Gary (Shirley) Campbell of Louisville; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Jay) Hodge, Michelle So, James Campbell, and Seth Campbell; four great-grandchildren, Samantha (Jimmy) Crick, Jordan (Chris) Ramsey, Julia Hodge, and Jenna So; and three great-great-grandchildren, J.P., Adaley, and Harper. Other survivors include a sister, Mary Abell of Knifley; a brother, Marvin (Charlena) Wethington of Springfield, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Velma Wethington of Clementsville.

 

In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Campbell; two sisters, Exilda Sanders and Irene Ewing; and three brothers, Curtis Wethington, Joe Wethington, and Eric Wethington.

 

The funeral mass will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, October 5, 2020, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father George Otuma officiating.

 

Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
