PANSY COOPER

Pansy M. (Denton) Cooper, 95, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 at her residence.

She was born March 14, 1927 in Pulaski County; daughter of the late Charles Lincoln & Sophronia (Hall) Denton. She worked as a seamstress, a school teacher, and attended Beacon Hill Baptist Church. She loved collecting antiques and antique dolls.

She is survived by a daughter, Lana Noe; a granddaughter, Stephanie Barker & (Darian); and a great-grandson, Zachary Barker.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Cooper; her brothers, Raymond, Lloyd, and Ted Denton; a sister, Margaret Brammer; and a son-in-law, Jerry Noe.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Messer officiating.

Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

ROGER WITHERS

Roger Dale Withers of Windsor, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Waynesburg Manor in Waynesburg, Kentucky. He was 68.

Born on August 21, 1953, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Almond Clyde “Shorty” and Vertis Wesley Withers. Roger worked in construction and sold mobile homes. He also formerly had rental property. He enjoyed fishing and farming. He was a member of South Fork Separate Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Kim (Leo) Johnson and Jenni (Andrew) Godbey, both of Windsor; six grandchildren, Luke Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Jake Weddle, Morgan Weddle, Landon Weddle, and Abigail Godbey; and his former wife, Cathy Estes Withers of Windsor.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, James Withers; and a sister, Alma Lou Sayers.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 1, 2022, in the fellowship hall at Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church.

THOMAS HINES

Thomas Marion "Tommy" Hines, 79, of Eubank, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born August 31, 1942 in Michigan; son of the late Ansel "Tom" and Eva (Dungan) Hines. He worked in concrete construction for Hinkle Construction.

He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia & (Jeff) Burkett of Science Hill; a step-daughter, Jeanette Withers of Somerset; a brother, Doug & (Ronda) Hines of Eubank; five grandchildren, Catie & (Andreas) Bilz of Villa Hills, Kentucky, Abigail & (Joshua) Johnson of Science Hill, Jana & (David) Guffey of Somerset, Johnny & (Michelle) Withers of Alabama, and Joshua Holt of Maryland; and 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty (Carter) Hines; and a sister, Ann Todd.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Saturday, April 16, 2022

OREN BARNHILL

Oren Wade Barnhill, age 73 of Somerset passed away on Tuesday April 12 at Select Specialty Hospital in Danville, Ky with his girls  by his side. 

He was born October 12, 1948 in Williamsburg, Ky to the late Samuel Henderson and Flora Irene Collier-Barnhill.  He was of the Church of God Faith and enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family especially the children and vegetable gardening.  He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters; Geneva Powell and Brenda Rains , four brothers; Lee, Noble, Maurice and Joel  “Tommy” Barnhill.

Oren is survived by his wife; Linda Phelps Barnhill whom he married on September 27, 1975 in Williamsburg, KY  and Amy Lee Barnhill, loving mother of his only child. A daughter; Kitrina May Barnhill (Shane) of Williamsburg, KY,  Two granddaughters; Sierra Danielle Leighan Barnhill-Walters (Sean) of Corbin, KY and Makenzie Elizabeth May Barnhill of Williamsburg, KY; two great- grandchildren; Rowan Kaisen Lee Walters and Brysen Gregory Kole Walters; his only surviving brother; Ronnie Ray Collier Sr. (Mary) of Emlyn, KY and several relatives and friends to mourn his passing.   

Visitation will be from 12:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company & Crematory.  Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Perkins officiating.  Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. 

In  lieu of flowers donations are requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

LANA BRANSCUM

Lana Branscum, daughter of the late William and Mary Lou Hargett Willman, was born on Sunday, August 22, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio and she departed this life on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 73 years.


She was united in marriage on July 11th, 1981 to Mr. Roger Branscum, he survives.
Other survivors include; one sister, Tysa (and "Dee") Lonacker of Interlachen, Florida; and a host of other relatives.


For many years, she was a clothing buyer for Belk SImpson. She later worked as the office manager for the Pulaski County Detention Center. She was a deacon and member of the Somerset First Christian Church. She enjoyed serving in a number of other roles at the church when she could.


She was a kind lady who will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.


A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 15th, 2022 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Lakeside Memorial Gardens.


The family of Lana Branscum will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. Friday until time for services. Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

DONNA MILLS

Donna K. Wilson Mills, of Dunnville, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. She was 63.

Born on January 3, 1959, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. Wilson, Jr. and Opal M. Hatter Wilson. Donna was a self-employed gate hauler. She was a Christian.

She is survived by her husband Grayln “Boo” Mills; nieces and nephews, Angie High, Roger Cochran, Jr., Jon Wilson, Jordan Coggins, Jaclyn Onyon, and Jillian Adams; great nieces and nephews, Whitley Hale, Hailey Hale, Paige Cochran, Byron Cochran, Alissa Cochran, Trenton Cochran, TJ Wethington, Jaylah Godbey, and Jordan Coggins; and a great-great niece, Myra Hale.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Cochran; and a brother, Jackie Wilson.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Contown Cemetery.

THOMAS SROCZYNSKI

Thomas “Tom” Sroczynski, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at The Grandview Nursing and Rehab Facility in Campbellsville. He was 81.

Born on October 23, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, he was a son of the late Joseph T. and Jeanett F. Oleksiak Sroczynski. 

Tom was a mechanical engineer. He was a member of Canaan Valley Separate Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling and especially loved his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel Atwood Sallee Sroczynski; two children, Lori Graczyk and Paul Sroczynski; two stepchildren, Bill (Carolyn) Sallee and Connie Sallee; two grandchildren, Joe and Katelyn; six step-grandchildren, Kim (Josh) Wethington, Brandy (Jeremy) Carman, Caleb Sallee, Cody (Melissa) Burton, Hagan (Ashley) Scott, and Logan Scott; and four step-great-grandchildren, Jenna Wethington, Elijah Wethington, Braxton Scott, and Emmalynn Carman. Other survivors include a host of nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Bernice (Gary) Preece; and a special feline companion, Baby Lou.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Freda Lloyd Sroczynski; a stepson, Joe Lloyd; two sisters, Eleanor Sroczynski and Leona Sankiewicz; and two brothers, Richard Sroczynski and James Sroczynski.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. David Hicks and Bro. Matt Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

MARSHALL CAUDILL

Marshall Caudill, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at his home. He was 89.

Born on May 3, 1932, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Azra and Sylvia Phillips Caudill. Marshall was a farmer. He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing volleyball and croquet.

Marshall is survived by his loving wife, Helen McFarland Caudill, who he wed on November 1, 1969; three daughters, Diana Buck, Donna (Mark) Murphy, and Teresa (James) Burton; a son, John Gadberry; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, David (Elizabeth) Caudill.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene Caudill, Bobby Caudill, Larry Caudill, and Dean Caudill; four sisters, Juanita Thompson, Norma Cain, Jenavie Lane, and Clairlene Leigh; and a great-grandson, Kade Cooper.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 15, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Warner and Bro. BJ Huff officiating. Burial will follow in McFarland Family Cemetery.
