GENE BERNARD

Gene Bernard, of Dunnville, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at his home. He was 80.

Born on October 23, 1941, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Stanley and Cordie Holt Bernard. Gene worked for the county and state highway departments for over twenty years. He attended Thomas Ridge Church. He loved farming, gardening, and especially loved his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Naomi Luttrell Bernard, who he wed on July 28, 1962; a son, Greg (Tammie) Bernard of Dunnville; a daughter, Kristie (Rob) Wesley of Science Hill; four grandchildren, Rachel Bernard, Sidney (Beau) Coffman, Brandon Wesley (Maya Sylvia), and Beth (E.B.) Tyra; and one great-grandchild, John Daniel Tyra.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Avery Bernard, Addis Bernard, and Arvis Bernard.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Thomas Ridge Church with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Thomas Ridge Church.

RALPH WILHOITE

Ralph Wilhoite, of Moreland, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. He was 77.

Born August 1, 1945, in Frankfort, KY, he was a son of the late Oscar Wilhoite and Irene Webb Wilhoite Crigger. Ralph was an avid farmer and former National Guard member. Ralph was a member of the Gum Lick Christian Church. He loved mules and wagon rides.

Survivors include his wife, Earlene Vaughn Wilhoite, whom he married on February 22, 1985; brother, Coleman Wilhoit of Monterey, KY; sisters, Beulah Wilhoite Cornman of Owenton, Patsy (David) Rodgers of Lake Worth, FL, and Hilda Wilhoite (Dennis) Raisor of Owenton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ralph Wilhoite, Jr.; and sister, Onie Wilhoite Courtright.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, August 5, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY 42539 with Bro. Steven Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Gum Lick Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:30PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

CLYDE CLOUSE

Clyde Clouse, 100, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, after a brief illness.

Clyde was born in Crane Nest (Knox County), KY on August 8, 1921, son of the late Lee and Fanny Clouse. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth, and his eldest son, Mike. He is survived by his sons; Bill (Kathy), Jim (Julie), and Tom (Cindy). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Shawn (Jessica), Shelley, Matthew, Andrew (Chelsi), Logan (Kathryn), Emily Malicote (David), Makenzie and Ben; and one great grandchild, Caleb.

He grew up in Corbin, Kentucky, graduated from Lynn Camp High School in 1940 and the Perry Business College, and attended the University of South Dakota. He worked at Wright Aeronautical Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio until entering the service of his country in the US Army from August 1, 1942, until February 21, 1946, including two-years in the European theater of operations of World War II. Upon returning home from the service, he moved to Somerset, KY, where he met his wife, raised his family, and lived a full life. Prior to his 1986 retirement, he was a self-employed accountant for Clouse Bookkeeping & Tax Service, a business he began on January 1, 1961. He had a passion for youth sports and was very active in Somerset youth baseball programs for over 35 years. With faith as his foundation, his love of Jesus and family guided him throughout his days.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at First Baptist Church, 128 North Main Street, Somerset, KY 42501.

His funeral service will follow on Thursday at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan Coffey officiating.  Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to aid the Eastern Kentucky flood relief efforts. Donations can be made to First Baptist Church, designated to the “Eastern KY Disaster Relief” fund.

DANA RICHARDS

Dana Carol Helm Richards age 58, of Liberty, departed this life to her Heavenly home on July 31st, 2022. She was born on December 31st, 1963, in Norfolk, VA a daughter of Juanita and the late Danny Helm.

She was the widow of Randy Richards who passed away on August 24th, 2019, and whom she missed dearly.

Dana worked at OshKosh for many years and for the Casey County school system as a cook. Dana loved horses, Australian Shepherd dogs, and country music. She especially loved Jamey Johnson music and concerts. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved planting and working in her flowers. Dana loved life and she loved her friends and family. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Dana leaves behind two dogs that were her world “Pootie and Maggie”.

Additional survivors include one brother: Danny Lee Helm, one nephew: Byron and (Lisa) Humphrey, two nieces: Jennifer Richards and Lisa and (Garryd) Buis, one great niece: Hannah and (Bradley) Sherrell, two great nephews: Kyle Humphrey and Rylan Buis, one great-great niece: Hadley Sherrell, special aunt: Mildred Cutter, two sisters-in-law: Brenda Kaye Richards and Betty Jane Richards, one brother-in-law: Ricky Richards and many cousins, friends, her hospice care team, and her caregivers.

Preceding her in death besides her father and husband was one brother: Darren Helm.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday August 3rd, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday August 4th, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Troy Coffey and Bro. Casey Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Green River Valley Cemetery.

MACIE RANEY

Macie Viletta Raney, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 84.

Born on March 10, 1938, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Flossie Richardson Hendricks. Macie was a homemaker and a farmer. She was a member, secretary, and treasurer of Willow Springs United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, flowers, and attending church.

She is survived by her son, Gary (Brenda) Raney of Lancaster; a daughter, Elizabeth (Don) Rudder of Kings Mountain; a grandson, Alex Dewane (Olivia Hale) of Liberty; a great-grandson, Liam Dewane of Liberty; a step-granddaughter, Beverly (Jeff) Lee; a step-great-granddaughter, Maggie Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tyrone Raney, who passed away on March 10, 2002; a son, Jerome Raney; brothers, Ancil Hendricks, William Hendricks, and Herbert Hendricks; and sisters, Celestie Schlensker, Beulah Edens, Ruth Cravens, Dorothy Durham, and Mary Margaret Godbey.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Cochran and Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
