DEWEY MINK

 

Dewey Kermit Mink, of Liberty, formerly of Rockcastle County, KY, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Casey County Hospital. He was 73.

 

Born August 3, 1950, in Rockcastle County, KY, he was a son of the late Andrew Lewis Mink and Martha Bea Mink. Mr. Mink was a former employee of the Glen Robinson Chair Factory in Livingston, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Marie Hasty Mink.

 

Survivors include his brothers and sisters, George D. Mink, John Mink, Damoth Goforth, and Mathe Jean Newcomb. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

 

There will be no services held at this time.

DAVID GODBEY

 

David Godbey, born September 18, 1931, went home to be with his Lord and his wife Inez on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

 

David was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Inez.

His parents Everett and Vida Godbey; three sisters, Mary Snead, Quilla Roberts, and Nanny Parton;  two brothers, Guston Godbey and Edgar Godbey; and one great grandson, Landon David Green.  

 

David will be missed by his four children; Pleas Thomas (Cheryl) Godbey, Brenda Ruth Godbey, Linda Faye (Mike) Anspach, and Luanna Susan Green; his sister, Ollie Godbey; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild;  as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.   

 

David attended the Carthage Church of the Nazarene where he came to know Jesus as his personal Savior.

 

David had a servant's heart.  He served as an usher and later head usher.  He spent many years serving the church as a board member.  His greatest service was the many hours of labor of love building the new sanctuary.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Carthage Church of the Nazarene, 33 65th St. W, Cincinnati, OH 45216. There will be visitation at the Church on Wednesday from 10am until funeral time.

 

There will also be a brief visitation on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 11:00am until 11:30am at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

 

Burial will follow in the Spaw Cemetery in Casey County, KY.

 

DIANN WOODRUM

 

Diann Murphy Woodrum, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was 75 years old.

 

Born on May 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Clem and Zelma Thomas Murphy. She was married to the late Shearl Wayne Woodrum on January 2, 1965. Diann loved quilting and crocheting and formerly worked in a sewing factory. She enjoyed cooking and decorating cakes. Diann loved her grandchildren and traveling to the Smoky Mountains.

 

Diann is survived by her son, Jonathan Lee (Lynn) Woodrum; her daughter, Sonja (Jeff) Lynn; eight grandchildren, Mandy, Todd, Logan, Lindsey, Colt, Cara, Nick, and Cierra; and nine great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jeffrey, Luke, Maci, Levi, Lucy, Grayson, Hudson, and Harlan.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Kendall Wayne Woodrum; her infant brother, Danny Lee Murphy; and her brother, Larry Thomas.  

 

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Bro. Casey Davis will be officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Green River Valley Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 30, at McKinney Brown Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

ELSIE CARMICLE

 

Elsie Carolyn Carmicle, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She was 82 years old.

 

Born on May 26, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Minor and Pina Rousey Bartle. She leaves behind her loving husband, Larry Richard Carmicle, whom she wed August 21, 1958. Carolyn was a homemaker all her life and was a loving mother and grandmother. She is described as the glue that held her family together. Carolyn was a member of First Baptist Church.

 

In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by her sons, Ricky (Patty) Carmicle, Nelson Carmicle, and David Carmicle; her daughters, Beverly Franchino and Angie Cruse; her brother, Daniel Minor; eight grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Christian, Adam, Andrew, Robert, Jonathan, and Victoria; as well as a host of great-grandchildren.

 

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bobby Minor and Gary Minor; and her sister, Linda Combs.

 

A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

CAROL LAWHORN

 

Carol Jean Lawhorn, of Dunnville, KY, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023. She was 81 years old.

 

Born June 17, 1942, she was the daughter of Homer Hamlin and Linnie Richardson. Carol was a former cook at The Village Restaurant and Dogwalk Market.

 

Carol is survived by her son, Todd Lawhorn, of Dunnville; her daughters, Judy (Alan) Lee, of Dunnville, and Andrea (Gary) Owens, of Liberty; her brother, Billie Hamlin; her sister, June (Donnie) Lawhorn; her grandchildren, Whitney, Noah, Skylin, Chris, Ethan, Lauren, Tiara, Haley, and Wesley; as well as her great-grandchildren, Blair, Keira, Gresyn, Kamryn, Hayden, and Drake.

 

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wesley Lawhorn, who passed away December 22, 2020, and her sister, Negia York.

 

Ms. Carol’s wishes to be cremated have been honored.

INEZ ROSARIO

 

Inez Marinero Gomez Rosario passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at her home in Liberty, KY. She was 75 years old.

 

Born January 21, 1948, in Zentla, Mexico, Inez was the daughter of the late Francisco and Isabel Marinero Gomez. She leaves behind her husband, Juan Manuel Rosario. Inez was a kind woman who enjoyed cooking and gardening roses. She loved her family and grandchildren.

 

In addition to her husband, Inez is survived by her children, Juan Rosario, Alicia Rosario, Susana Rosario, Jose Gomez Rosario, and Mariana Rosario; her sisters, Paula Gomez and Cathalina Gomez; her grandchildren, Margarita Rosario, Jose Rosario, Leticia Rosario, Jessica Rosario, Elizabeth Rosario, Yuridia Rosario, Jesus Rosario, Angel Rosario, Beatris Ramzahuer, Ricardo Ramzahuer, Bernardo Ramzahuer, Prisila Medorio, Jose Medorio, Yahir Medorio, Ignacio Medorio, Isabella Gomez, and Gabriella Gomez; and her great-grandchildren, Daniela Rosario, Cris Rosario, Gabriel Rosario, Axl Rosario, Ariana Rosario, Emma Rosario, Adriana Rosario, and Adrian Clements.

 

Inez is preceded in death by her son, Ramiro Rosario.

JIMMIE LAWHORN

 

Jimmie Allen Lawhorn, of Dunville, KY, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023. He was 79 years old.

 

Born on May 13, 1944, in Casey County, he was the son of the late George and Bobbie Sallee Lawhorn. He leaves behind his loving wife, Vickie Wheeler Lawhorn, whom he wed April 12, 1963. Jimmie was a former truck driver for Tarters and Holmes Hardwood. He spent his life farming and enjoyed fixing up old tractors. Jimmie was loved by many friends and family.

 

In addition to his wife, Jimmie is survived by his sons, Jimmy (Marsha) Michael Lawhorn, of Colombia, and Patrick (Brittany) Dale Lawhorn, of Dunville; his daughter, Veronia Sengkhamyong, of Dunville; his brothers, Donnie (June) Lawhorn and Roger Lawhorn, both of Dunville; his sister, Glenda (Keith) Caudill, of Liberty; sister-in-law, Carol Lawhorn, of Dunville; his grandchildren, Ty (Nguyet) Sengkhamyong, Patrick (Brittany) Dale Lawhorn, Austin Blake Lawhorn, Shawnda (Logan) Gail Weddle, Tyra (Luke) Davone Sengkhamyong-Johnson, and Aiden Jayce Lawhorn; as well as his great-grandchildren, Eli Weddle, Jace Weddle, and Paisley Lawhorn.

 

In addition to his parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by his daughter, Patrica Lawhorn; his brother, Herman Lawhorn; his nephew, Bruce Lawhorn; his uncle, Cleo Lawhorn; and his son-in-law, Inthavone Sengkhamyong.

DONNA TRAINER

 

Donna Rebecca Trainer, of Hustonville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was 60 years old.

 

Born September 28, 1963, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of Thelma Pauline McCormack Johnson and the late Donald Marvin Johnson. Donna was a selfless, generous woman who cared for the well-being of others.

 

She is survived by her mother; her children, Jessica Vitale, Lonnie Trainer Jr., Sheri Ingram, and Elizabeth Wilson; her sister, Nancy Eggleston; brother, Christopher Johnson; her special friend, Amberly Sanders and Amberly’s family; as well as a host of grandchildren.

 

In addition to her father, Donna is preceded in death by her brother, David M. Johnson.

LESTER LUTTRELL

 

Lester Keith Luttrell, of Windsor, KY, departed this life October 16, 2023. He was 62 years old.

 

Born May 21st, 1961, in Liberty, KY, Lester was well loved by his daddy, Shinnie, and mommy, Geneva Luttrell.  Lester was a master mechanic from a young age and is still praised by many for his workmanship. He enjoyed reading, classic cars, and westerns. He loved to travel and there was very little he had not seen and done. Anyone who has ever met Lester has a story to tell and memories that are sure to bring a smile.

 

Lester is survived by his parents Shinnie and Geneva Luttrell; his children Chris (Holly) Luttrell and Heather (Julio) Barradas; two sisters, Carolyn Hardwick and Genleena Luttrell; three brothers, Leslie, Gary, and Billy Luttrell; his grandchildren Nathan, Haidyn, Breanna, Neveah, and Bentley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Burton, and his great-granddaughter, Novalee Luttrell.

 

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Breeden officiating.

MARILYN DERRINGER PERKINS

 

Marilyn Derringer Perkins, of Casey County, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. She was 78 years old.

 

Born on August 25, 1945, in Boyle County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Viola Taylor Derringer. Marilyn leaves behind a loving husband, Johnnie, whom she wed September 2, 1995. She spent her life as a caretaker for many members of her community. She is remembered as a selfless woman who touched many hearts. Marilyn loved to fish and was an avid bingo player. She formerly attended Brush Creek Pentecostal Church.

 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Deborah Hack, Tina Adams, and William Earnest “Buddy” Hack; sisters, Williebell, Liz, Valerie, Terica, and Merida; 6 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Loretta Ann; and her sister, Clara.

J.D. ABSHER

 

Jerry “J.D.” Absher, of Hustonville, KY, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. He was 73 years old.

 

Born July 6, 1950, in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late George Tilford and Mollie Bell Wilham Absher. He was a former employee of U.K. Hospital and spent his life farming. He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Ann Gilpin. J.D. enjoyed fishing and collecting knives.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Marshall Absher and Ray Snow, and his sisters, Mary Holloway, Kathleen Absher, and Odell Brim.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Absher, of Hustonville, Marion Absher, of Nicholasville, and Joe Absher, of Claysville, and his sisters, Essie Lanehart, of Claysville, and Jean Perry, of McKinney.

MARY JOHNSON

 

Mary Rose Johnson, of Windsor, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was 82.

 

Born April 2, 1941, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Oscar and Ella Chumbley Turpin. During her life, Mary worked as a seamstress at Oshkosh and also worked at the Galilean Home’s Angel House. She loved cooking for her friends and family, and nobody ever left her house hungry. Mary attended Jennies Chapel United Methodist Church.

 

Mary is survived by her children, Bruce (Theresa) Johnson, of Windsor, Larry (Estelita) Johnson, of Windsor, Barry (Karen) Johnson, of Dunnville, and Wanda Stephens, of Windsor; her sister, Dolly Mae Luttrell; 7 grandchildren, Brandon, Dustin, Derek, Jasmine, Hunter (Madison), Baron, and Noah; 5 great-grandchildren, Bryson, Addy, Carter, Elowyn, and Paisley; two special nieces, Kim (Albert) Kane and Lexi (Mason) Pyles; and a special nephew, Lester (Gloria) Luttrell.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlie Lee Johnson; grandson, Bruce Lee Johnson Jr.; and two infant siblings.

 

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 16, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Richard West and Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating.

JEFFREY FROST

 

Jeffrey Todd Frost, of Casey County, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. He was 61.

 

Born November 18, 1961, he was the son of Judy Taylor Frost and the late Robert Joseph “Bobby Joe” Frost. Jefferey was a retired truck driver and loved cars all his life. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on Lake Cumberland.

 

He is preceded in death by his father.

 

He is survived by his mother; son, Todd Frost; his sister, Jill Frost; and two grandchildren.

BENNY SCOTT

 

Benny Omer Scott, 73, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.


Benny was born on July 7, 1950 in Casey County, Kentucky, to the late Ben and Dorothy Cox Scott. He grew up in a loving family as one of 14 children. Benny met the love of his life, Linda, as children in church. They were married on July 11, 1969. Their 54 year marriage produced four children and four grandchildren. Following in his father’s footsteps, Benny was an oil, gas, and water well driller who owned Benny Scott Drilling Company. He also was a member of Triple S Drilling with his two brothers many years ago. He had an adventurous life and survived many things, including a helicopter crash, train crash, and numerous other events.


Benny was hard-working, generous, and devoted to his family. He was stubborn at times, but he also
had a sense of humor and loved to joke around. He will be missed by his family and friends.

 

Benny is survived by his wife Linda (Hill) Scott and his four children: Deana (Ritchie) Livengood of
Moreland, Dwayne Scott of Liberty, Deangelia (Craig) Keiffer of Lexington, and Dakota Scott of Liberty.
His memory lives on in his grandchildren Kyle Scott, Eric Livengood, Nick Scott, and the late Ryan Livengood, Ritchie Aaron (Victoria) Livengood. He is also survived by three great grandchildren , his twin brother Larry Scott and sisters Jewell Payton, Phyllis Lamb, Wanda (Bearl) King, Margaret Rodgers, Mary (Harlan) Shoopman, all of Liberty and Carol Lee of Versailles.

 

He is preceded in death by his brothers Hubert Scott and David Scott; sisters Doris Brown, Ruby Cochran, Catherine Smith, and Sue Cochran; father-in-law and mother-in-law Reverend Leonard and Alma Hill.
 

Visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 10:00 am Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Brush Creek Pentecostal Church.

 

Funeral service is at 1:00 pm at Brush Creek Pentecostal Church. Brother Scott Cochran and Sister Shelley Gullette officiating.

 

Burial will be at the Whited Cemetery.

 

ROY "R.C." VAUGHT

 

Roy “R.C.” Vaught, age 80, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Tuesday October 10th, 2023. He was born October 10, 1943, in Liberty, KY, a son of the late Melvin Roy “Biggie” Vaught and Mabel Murphy Vaught.

 

R.C. was a retired foreman for the KY State Highway Dept.

 

Survivors include: His Spouse: Patricia Louise Edwards Vaught, Three Daughters: Rhonda and (Terry) Hatter of Yosemite, Lisa Vaught Smith and (Scottie) of Dunnville and Heather Rori Vaught and (Guillaume Filteau) of Nashville, TN, Five Grandchildren: Parker, Tyler and Patrick Hatter, Nelson and Morgan Smith, Four Great Grandchildren: Easton and Aurora Hatter, Diana and Brooks Hatter, and Three Sisters: Wanda an d(Luaird) Riddle of Liberty, Anna Lou and (Clark) Durham of Liberty and Donna and (Jimmy) Yowell of Hustonville.

 

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death One Brother: Ronnie Vaught.

 

Graveside Services will be held 4:00 P.M. Thursday October 12th, 2023 at Green River Valley Cemetery. Bro. Casey Davis officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Green River Valley Cemetery.

WILMA DEMPSEY

 

Wilma Dempsey, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Casey County Hospital. She was 75.

 

Born June 23, 1948, in Casey County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Etta Cochran Lynn. Wilma was a retired Registered Nurse. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Treva (and Jonathan) Warrix, Rachel (and Scott) McQueary, and Hope Dempsey; brothers, Jerry and Jackie Lynn; and three grandchildren, Colin, Luke, and Hayden.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Downs; and brothers, Darnell, Johnny, and Joe Lynn.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, October 15, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Gale Durham officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.
