HUMBERTO MEDELLIN

 

Humberto Medellin age 73, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Monday May 12th, 2025, at his residence.

 

He was born in Atarjea, Guanajuato, Mexico on November 3rd, 1951, to the late Juvenal Medellin and Guadalupe Moran.

 

Humberto was the widower of Unita Rodgers Medellin who passed away on September 1st, 2000.

 

Humberto was a former employee of Red Wing.

 

Survivors include: two daughters: Marisol Medellin of Mexico, and Graciela Medellin of Mexico, one son: Brian Kent Medellin of Liberty, five grandchildren and six siblings: Felipe Medellin of Liberty, Abel Medellin of California, Maria Teresa Medellin of Mexico, Hortencia Medellin Rodriguez of Liberty, Cain Medellin of California and Jose Medellin of Mexico.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents and spouse was one brother: Rodolfo Medellin.

Cremation Rites were honored by Bartle Funeral Home.

 

The family requests that donations be made to Bartle Funeral Home to help offset expenses.

 

SHERRY DURHAM

 

Sherry Lynn Richardson Durham age 74, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Saturday May 10th, 2025, at her residence.

 

She was born in Liberty, KY on April 19th, 1951, to the late Ocanus and Agnes Richardson.

 

Sherry was the widow of James Richard Durham who passed away on February 19th, 2018.

 

Sherry was a homemaker.

 

Survivors include: one son: Troy and (Anita) Richardson of Morecambe, United Kingdom, one daughter: Tracie Emerson of Liberty, two step children: Christy King of Somerset, and Susan and (Ronnie) Hensley of Orlando, KY, six grandchildren: Holly Hatter, Neysa Richardson, Zack and (Jennifer) Richardson, Alyssa and (Nick) Pittman, Hunter and (Madison) Emerson, and Dewey Jones, four step grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren, two brothers: Barry Richardson and Billy Richardson both of Liberty and one sister: Sharon Black of Liberty.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was one son: Travis Jones, one grandchild: Brittany Hatter and one brother: Tommy Richardson.

 

Visitation will be held 12:00 Noon Thursday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Bro. Johnny Maupin and Bro. Barry Richardson officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

LORAINE STOUT

 

Loraine Farris Stout age 85, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday May 9th, 2025, at her residence.

 

She was born in Liberty, KY on March 3rd, 1940, to the late Robert and Mae Foster Farris.

Loraine was a homemaker.

 

Survivors include: six children: Hilda Edwards Stafford of Liberty, Sharlene (Jimmy) Gilley of Liberty, Sharon Edwards of Brandonburg, KY, Ricky (Stella) Edwards of Liberty, Terrill (Patty) Edwards of Liberty and Willa Edwards of Liberty, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and three sisters: Jewell Davis of Norwood, OH, Nelli Strong of San Leon, TX and Darlene Brown of Liberty.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents was one son: Wayne “JW” Edwards, two brothers: Deward and Morris Farris and two sisters: Lillian Allen and Bernice Farris.

 

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday May 12th, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.

 

MARGARET BRUSOE

 

Margaret Ann “Margee” Brusoe, of Liberty, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Russell County Hospital. She was 75.

 

Margee was born on July 15, 1949, in Bellingham, WA to the late Robert and Beatrice Marie Pederson Funk.

 

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Thomas E. “Thom” Brusoe.

 

Before coming to Kentucky, she loved to travel and traveled a lot. At the age of 19, Margee traveled to Ethiopia to marry her first husband while he was in the armed forces. She loved people and was known to help many, healing them through the power of singing songs.

 

She was very crafty. With her artistic talents, Margee found joy in creating flower arrangements, making jewelry, and other crafts. She was an avid reader and loved mystical creatures of all types.

 

Margee is survived by her son, Tom Brusoe (and Dawn) of Crookston, MN; her daughters, Mindi Hibpshman (and Curtis) of Liberty and Kelly MacPhail of Santa Paula, CA; her two brothers, Stuart Funk of TX and Tom Lightener of CA; two nephews, Chad and Troy Funk; 11 grandchildren, Paul, Beranda, Tyler, Samantha, Alexis, Nicholas, Curtis, Christina, Melyssa, William and Samuel; and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

Cremation rites were honored for Margee.

 

JUANITA RALSTON

 

Juanita Ralston, of Dunnville, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at her home. She was 93.

 

Born on August 16, 1931, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Elmer D. and Myrtle Marie Hatfield Miller. Juanita obtained a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a retired school teacher with the Casey County School System. In her early days of teaching, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and embroidering.

 

She is survived by a nephew, Gary (and Sharon) Miller of Dunnville; great nephews, Jason (and Natalie) Miller and Nicklas (and Ashlee) Miller, both of Dunnville; and great-great nieces and nephews, Sophia, Landon, Josie, Winnie, and Lane.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley Ralston, Jr., who passed away on February 13, 1980; and a brother, Kenneth Miller.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Parton officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Casey County Memorial Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers will be Jason Miller, Nicklas Miller, Jim Mishler, Charles Norfleet, Darrell Adams, and Tommy Miller.

 

CINDA McFARLAND

 

Cinda Kay McFarland, of Willow Springs Road in Liberty, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was 68.

 

Born on December 4, 1956, in Danville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late James Leo and Lois Derringer McFarland.

 

Cinda was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at numerous locations throughout her nursing career such as: Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Lifeline Home Health, and Casey County Hospital. Prior to nursing, she also worked at Fruit of the Loom and OshKosh for numerous years. She was a member of House of Prayer. Cinda enjoyed sewing, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren.

 

She is survived by two sons, Jamie Hatter and Kevin Hatter, both of Liberty; a daughter, Miranda Hatter of Liberty; five grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, Malachi, Kizzy, and Danielle; two great-grandchildren, Silas and Nathaniel; two brothers, Frank McFarland of Campbellsville and Tony McFarland of Liberty; and two sisters, Virginia McFarland of Liberty and Kathy Jo Moriarty of Mt. Washington.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, James McFarland; and a sister, Lillie Rose Scott.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Stevie Allen officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

 

MARY LOU PITTMAN

 

Mary Lou Pittman age 82, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on Wednesday May 7th, 2025, at her residence.

 

She was born in Liberty, KY on April 19th, 1943, to the late Roy and Effie Richardson Douglas.

 

Mary Lou was the widow of Haskel Lee Pittman who passed away on November 14th, 2021.

 

Mary Lou was a former cafeteria employee at Proctor and Gamble.

 

Survivors include: five children: Shawneeda (Brian) Brandenburg of Batavia, OH, Sheila (Marc) Combs of Cincinnati, OH, Ronnie (Stephanie) Pittman of Mason, OH, Robert Pittman of Liberty and Patrick Pittman of Lexington, fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two brothers: Russell (Becky) Douglas of Middleburg and Bobby Douglas of Liberty.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was one daughter: Donna Lee Pittman, and two brothers: Floyd Douglas and Oaklie Douglas.

 

Visitation will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday May 10th, 2025, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.  

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 10th, 2025, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Dwight Hatter officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Willow Springs Cemetery.

 

WILLIAM "BUTCH" HANSON

 

William Harvey “Butch” Hanson, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Green River Trails Rehab & Care. He was 73.

 

He was born on December 25, 1951, in Harford County, MD to the late William Mark Hanson, Sr. and Milba Marie Starcher Hanson. Bill was a former maintenance worker at a condominium located in Alexandria, VA, for several years.  When he was younger, he enjoyed carpentry, working as an electrician and plumber.  In his spare time, Bill enjoyed fishing.

 

He is survived by his son, Allen Hanson of Wilmington, NC; his daughter, Karen Mobley of Greenville, NC; his brothers, William Mark Henson, Jr. (and Kaye) and Richard Allen Hanson, both of Columbia, KY; his sisters, Janet Wolfe of Pennsylvania and Elizabeth Ann St. Clair of Columbia, KY; and two grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Michael Hanson.

 

Cremation rites were honored.  There will be no services at this time.

 

PAUL COLEMAN

 

Paul Coleman, of Liberty, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was 73.

 

Born on January 16, 1952, in Yosemite, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Ransom and Myrtle Spears Coleman.

 

Paul enjoyed working on small engines, being outdoors, caring for his lawn, and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed his animals, especially horses.

 

He is survived by his wife, Janis “Jan” Bagley Coleman, who he wed on May 14, 1999; a son, Jeremy (Jessie) Coleman of Lyons, GA; two sisters, Pauline (Ronald) Wright of Liberty and Nancy Coleman of Yosemite; seven grandchildren; and his best friend, Jimmy Greer.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Roy Lee Coleman and John Paul Coleman; three brothers, George “Butch” Coleman, Coyle Coleman, and Jim Coleman; and five sisters, Viola Sallee, Geraldine Woods, Sylvia Yates, Mae Raney, and Shirley Rayborn.

 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Creston Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Drake officiating.

 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Creston Missionary Baptist Church.

 

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to assist the family in offsetting funeral expenses.
