Billy Joe Richardson, age 68, of, Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday April 15th, 2026, at the Casey County Hospital. He was born December 24th, 1957, in Casey Co., KY, a son of the late Ocanus and Alma Agnes Richardson.

 

Billy Joe was a carpenter.

 

Survivors include: one brother: Barry Richardson of Liberty and one sister: Sharon Black of Liberty.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was one sister: Sherry Durham and one brother: Tommy Richardson.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday April 20th, 2026, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

LINDA BROWN

 

Linda F. Brown, age 76, of, Liberty, KY, passed away on Monday April 13th, 2026, at Baptist Health Lexington. She was born February 7th, 1950, in Hamilton, OH, a daughter of the late Albert and Viola Byrd Wesley.

 

Linda was a homemaker.

 

Survivors include: her spouse: Gale F. Brown, three sons: Anthony (Sharon) Brown of Liberty, Michael Brown of Liberty and Gregory (Gloria) Brown of New Mexico, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother: Earl (Lisa) Wesley of Seymour, IN and one sister: Brenda (Stan) Pierce of Blue Ash, OH.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents was five brothers: Charles “Charlie” Wesley, Robert Wesley, John Wesley, Winford Wesley and Ernest Wesley and two sisters: Ruby Hatton and Flossie “Sissy” Long.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday April 16th, 2026, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

JAMES CARMICLE

 

James Ballard “J.B.” Carmicle, age 77, of, Louisville, KY, passed away on Wednesday April 8th, 2026, at Story Point Middletown. He was born March 22nd, 1949, in Danville, KY, a son of the late James Monroe Carmicle and Kay C. Mills Carmicle.

 

J.B. was an educator, Vice President of Cashbox, owned 123 Answering Services, Publisher of Screenwrite Magazine and was the youngest D.J. in Kentucky.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was one brother: Donnie “Don” Carmicle.

 

Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday April 15th, 2026, at Glenwood Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.

 

BETTY MORAN

 

Betty Jean Moran, age 94, of, Kings Mountain, KY, passed away on Friday April 3rd, 2026, at the Liberty Care Center. She was born December 22nd, 1931, in Yosemite, KY, a daughter of the late Earnest and Ora Lanham Coleman.

 

Betty was the widow of Wallace Alford (Al) Moran who passed away on April 15th, 2010.

Betty was the former owner and operator of Moran’s Grocery.

 

Survivors include: Kimberly Marie (Adam) Campbell whom she helped raise of Kings Mountain, Adalyn and Morgan Campbell of Kings Mountain, and one sister: Peggy Combs of Hustonville.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was four sisters: Dorothy Brown, Vivian Black, Polly Durham and Frances Dinger and two brothers: Charles Coleman and Earnest R. Coleman.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday April 6th, 2026, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

KEVIN DUNHAM

 

Kevin Dunham, age 66, of, Yosemite, KY, passed away on Saturday March 28th, 2026, at his residence. He was born December 7th, 1959, in Danville, KY, a son of Leona Jenkins Dunham of Kings Mountain and the late Royal Preston Dunham.

 

Kevin was a former self-employed truck driver.

 

Survivors include: two daughters: Amanda (Nick) Jones of Dunnville and Laura Sisco, six grandchildren: Bailey (Laura) Jones, Alyssa (Haden) Bastin, Alexis Gossett, Kylee Sheene, Katee Sheene and Charlee Jones, two great grandchildren: Hattie Jones and Barrett Bastin, three brothers: Paul (Dev) Dunham of Grayson, KY, Robert (Shelia) Dunham of Kings Mountain and Timothy (Rita) Dunham of Waynesburg, two sisters: Bonita (Robert) Lynn of Liberty and Jennifer Durham of Yosemite and sister in law: Debra Dunham of Yosemite.

 

Preceding him in death besides his father was one brother: Mark Dunham and one sister: Beverly Cundiff.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday March 31st, 2026, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

NELSON CARMICLE

 

Nelson Richard Carmicle, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at University of Kentucky Hospital. He was 65.

 

Born on May 23, 1960, in Liberty, Kentucky, he was a son of Larry Carmicle and the late Carolyn Carmicle. He was a former brick layer and gate hauler. Nelson enjoyed being outdoors and watching western T.V. shows. He loved guns, hunting, fishing and old cars especially Ford Mustangs. “He was the definition of a true good old country boy” said his son, Adam. Nelson was of the Baptist faith.

 

In addition to his father, he is survived by his son, Adam Carmicle of Liberty; two brothers, Ricky (and the late Patty Donovan) Carmicle and David Carmicle of Largo, Florida; and two sisters, Beverly Franchino of St. Petersburg, Florida and Angie Cruse of Somerset; a niece, Victoria; six nephews, Justin, Brandon, Jonathan, Robert, Christan, and Andrew; and several cousins and other family members.

 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn.

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

MARION MURPHY

 

Marion Ancil Murphy, a visionary educator, orchardist, and a cornerstone of the Casey County community, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Casey County Hospital. He was 90.

 

Born on May 26, 1935, at his family home near Liberty, Kentucky, Marion was the son of the late Herman and Elsie Murphy. Growing up on the local soil, he developed a deep-seated respect for the farming way of life, a passion that defined his career as a Horticulture Teacher at the Casey County Vocational School for many years. Marion took great pride in his garden and his orchards, assisting the Casey County Detention Center with their community garden. Marion loved to communicate with his community and educate them on growing their choice of crops. In the early 1970s, he co-founded the Casey County Apple Festival, helping local farmers market their harvest in addition to the county’s significant amount acres of apple trees. Though the founders initially hoped the event would last just a few years, Marion’s vision blossomed into a legendary Kentucky tradition that has endured for over half a century. Marion was a man of the earth who turned a practical idea into a legacy, but his greatest pride was his family. He loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply. Marion enjoyed cooking for his friends to gather them together often. He remains a testament to the impact one person can have when they dedicate their life to the people and the land they call home.

 

He is survived by two sons, Mark (and Donna) Murphy of Liberty and Mike (and Angela) Murphy of Somerset; a daughter, Marsha (and Wallace) Payton of Liberty; a brother Howard Murphy of Versailles; six grandchildren, Becky (and Mark) Hinkle, Natasha (and Brian) McQueary, Jessica (and Pete) McQueary, Demi (and Harvey) Toebbe, Bryley (and Kendall) Murphy and Grayson (and Anthony Calabrese) Murphy; 13 great-grandchildren; and several friends and neighbors.

 

In addition to his parents, Marion is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bernita Rochelle Murphy; two brothers, John Bearl Murphy and James Shearl Murphy; four sisters, Ethel Murphy, Lorene Noel, Deloris “Dee” Campbell and Anita Fletcher.

 

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

 

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Martin officiating.

DELLA HAGGARD

 

Della Fay Haggard, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at her home. She was 70.

 

Born on August 24, 1955, in Lafayette, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Arvil Haggard and Sadie Rayborn Haggard. Della was a former waitress, in addition to driving a school bus for several years. She was an avid U.K. fan and enjoyed gardening, landscaping and being outdoors. Della loved spending time with her family, especially her kids and grandkids.

 

She is survived by her two sons, Samuel (and Jesseca) Phillips of Kings Mountain and Jonathan (and Tiffany) Phillips of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; six sisters, Stella (and Cecil) Emerick of Georgetown, IL, Mary Pittman of Liberty, Judy Haggard of Metcalf, IL, Martha Luster of Yosemite, Louise Payton of Casey County and Annie McAninch of Casey County; and a brother, Tommy Elliott of Paris, IL.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with speaker, Stella Emerick and Bro. Steven Poff officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Bethelridge Cemetery.

JAMES WILSON

 

James “Lester” Wilson, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at his home. He was 95.

 

Born on April 5, 1931, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Oscar and Virgie Walls Wilson. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and horseback riding. Above all, he loved the Lord. He attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church and Oak Grove Church of Christ. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and mentor. He will be remembered for wearing a crooked grin on his face while wearing his bib overalls and black Stetson hat. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

 

Lester is survived by two sons, John Wilson and Jerry (and Cheri) Wilson; a daughter, Betty (and the late Gary) Gadberry; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Wilson; twenty-two grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, Lloyd (and Josephine) Wilson, Garland Wilson, and Earl (and Brenda) Wilson; and a sister, Rosemary Shoaf.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Stella Jones Wilson; two sons, Stevie Lewis and James Wilson; a daughter, Brenda Staton; a grandson, Billy Vires; and two brothers, David Wilson and Vernon Wilson.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery.

EDWARD DURHAM

 

Edward “Ed” Creech Durham, age 69, of Yosemite, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at his home.

 

Born on May 4, 1956, to parents Kenneth and Matrie Durham.  He attended Casey County High School before going to work at American Greetings, where he retired in 2021, after 47 years.  While there, Ed met the love of his life, Mary, and the two were married on August 9, 2002.

 

Ed was a man of faith who loved the Lord and was a proud member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Though he loved spending time outdoors, Ed’s favorite role was as a parent, grandparent and recently a great-grandparent. He treasured his time with his family and loved being “Dad” to his children and “Poppy” to his grandchildren.  Ed was adored by his community but was especially adored by children and animals.  Ed’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed.

 

Ed is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Shane Durham, Dakota Singleton and Emily Bailey (and Shane); his grandchildren, MacKenzie, Chloe and Levi; his great-grandchild, Zayonah; his brother, Kenny (and Debbie); his sister-in-law, Pam Durham; and his brother-in-law, Mike Brown.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Matrie; his brother, Mike Durham; and his sister, Marsha Brown.

 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Haste officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Durham Cemetery.

CARLA HUMES

 

Carla Gail Humes, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Casey County Hospital. She was 61.

 

Born on October 24, 1964, in Jamestown, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Bonnie June Luttrell Whittle Humes and Charles Claude Humes. Carla loved her grandbabies and spending time with her family. She enjoyed fishing and swimming.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Chasity Weddle and Rachel (and Michael) Tapscott, both of Liberty; five grandchildren, Max, Felix, Onyx, Casper and Ava Mae Grace; a sister, Joan Humes of Liberty; a brother, Steve (and Rita) Meeks of Frankfort; and a lifelong best friend, Arlene Latham of Windsor.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Axel Jace Brown; two brothers, Patrick Humes and Greg Luttrell; and a nephew, Rocky Luttrell.

 

Cremation rites were honored. No services will be held at this time.

 

RANCEL ROY

 

Rancel “Preach” Roy, age 74, of Windsor, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his home.

 

He was a man of faith, humor, kindness, and great strength. He loved God, his family, yard work, visiting, and anything to do with automobiles. He had many jobs throughout his life, but his passion was in the automotive industry.

 

Preach is survived by his wife, Pamela Roy; and children, Donald (and Debra) Roy, Edward (and Sharon) Roy, Angelia Williams, and Andrew Roy. He has eight grandchildren, with two of them having the honor of being pallbearers, Christopher Roy and Michael Williams; a sister, Phyllis Hampton; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Avon and Nellie Roy; a sister, Josephine Roy; and a brother, Farley Roy.

 

While Preach will no longer be rocking on his front porch, his memory will live on through all the lives he touched.

 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremiah Veillon officiating and Bro. Donald Roy speaking.

 

Burial will follow in Bowmer Cemetery.

JULIE GRAHAM

 

Julie Diane McQueary Graham, age 68, went to her heavenly home on GOOD FRIDAY, April 3, 2026, at 6:40am at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

 

Born March 21, 1958, in Casey County, KY, she is the middle child of Gib & Carol Rich McQueary. Julie attended The Hill Church. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

 

Julie has two children from a 38 year marriage with Philip Graham: Nikki (and Kevin) Atwood and Tyler Graham; two grandchildren, Easton, age 11 and Korbin, age 7; two siblings: an older sister, Linda Payton and younger brother, Whitney McQueary; a niece, Corey (and Phil) Williams and nephew, Chance (and Katie) McQueary; special sister-in-law, Norma McQueary; three grand-dogs; Molli, Ollie, and Moose; and special friends, Elsie Allen-Clark, Amy Warner, and Tammie Bernard Devine.

 

When Julie reaches the pearly gates of Heaven, she will be greeted with arms wide open by both her parents, Gib & Carol McQueary; her in-laws, Lee & Fannie Graham; her best brother-in-law, David Payton; and a handful of aunts and uncles.

 

Services will be held at a later date.

 

Memorial contributions are requested to assist the family in offsetting funeral expenses.

 

MABEL ALLEN

 

Mable Jewel Allen, of Liberty, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was 93.

 

Born on September 30, 1932, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Whited and Ida Derringer Whited. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Mable loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and cooking for everyone.

 

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy (and the late Treca) Allen and Dalton Allen, both of Liberty; three daughters, Peggy (and Bill) England of Columbus, IN, Kay (and Robert) Abell of Liberty, and Gwen (and Lonnie) Cox of East Hampton, MA; two sisters, Pauline Hayes of Ohio and Ida Lee Woods of Junction City; and a brother, Homer Whited of Indiana. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Stacy Burton, Christy England, Adrian Davis, Michelle Davis, Crystal Gosser, Tanya Shearer, and Angela Fini; fourteen great-grandchildren, Alyssa Davis, Adam Davis, Sadie Davis, Logan Williams, Gage Mills, Chip Burton, Hailey Caluya, Dylan Edwards, Deric Shearer, Parker Shearer, Kaleb Gosser, Mikaila Fini, Maverick Fini, and Jesse Fini; and two great-great-grandchildren, Aaron Davis and Kingsley Struwing.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Allen; four brothers, Carl Whited, Ira Whited, Harold Whited and Jerry Whited; four sisters, Rilda Coppage, Nellie Goode, Jane Lee and Ruby Russell; two infant siblings; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Armstrong.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight Coffman officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.

BRIAN ATWOOD

 

Brian Keith Atwood, of Parksville, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his home. He was 51.

 

Born on January 23, 1975, in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Charles William “Bill” Atwood and Donna Faye Williamson Atwood. He was employed by DANA Incorporated. He enjoyed gaming and working on vehicles.

 

He is survived by a daughter, Kristen Faye Atwood; granddaughter, Addie Moon Cameron-Clymer; brother, Todd (and Nicki) Atwood; and significant other, Kimberly Cox.

 

Cremation rites were honored. No services will be held at this time.
