GLENNA 'JODY' TIPTON

 

Glenna Bee Tipton, who went by the lifelong nick-name of “Jody,” resided with her family in
Windsor, KY. She passed from this life into the presence of King Jesus on Sunday, July 23,
2023 in the Hospice Unit at the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center. She was 77 years
old.


Jody was born September 10, 1945 in the Argyle community of Casey County, Kentucky to the
late Milford Murphy and the late Mable DeHart Murphy. She lived in Lexington, Kentucky the
majority of her life where she worked at Parker Seal for many years and owned a commercial
cleaning service called, “Jody’s Cleaning Service.” She enjoyed bowling, volleyball, yard sales,
and auctions. She also enjoyed the beach, working in her flower beds, and crime movies on
LMN. Jody loved buying gifts for people, especially at Christmas time and cooking meals to
feed her family.

 

She was a devoted wife to the late Carl G. Tipton for 34 years of marriage and a
loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She trusted Jesus Christ as
her savior and Lord later in life and was baptized by her son, Reggie.


She is survived in death by her son, Reggie (Ashley) Tipton of Windsor; and eight
grandchildren, Brittney Barber, Maranda Barber, Brandy Garcia Dominguez, Owen Tipton, Evan
Tipton, Attyson Tipton, Anslee Tipton, and Avery Tipton; and four great grandchildren, Elena
Harris, Jaxon Evans, Lennon Garcia Dominguez, and Esmerelda Garcia Dominguez.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Windell
Murphy; a sister, Janivae Black; two sons, Kevin Tipton and Roger Barber; and a
daughter-in-law, Sherry Barber.


Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 26th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral
Home Chapel.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 26th, 2023 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Reggie Tipton will be officiating and burial will be at the Valley Oak Cemetery.


Pallbearers: Abi Garcia Dominguez, Justin Evans, Owen Tipton, Evan Tipton, Ricky Owens,

SUMMER CROSS

 

Summer Destiny Cross, of Dunnville, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in Columbia. She was 23.

 

Born on November 18, 1999, in Danville, she was a daughter of Willie Cross of Columbia and Tasha Luttrell of North Carolina. Summer enjoyed fishing.

 

In addition to her parents, she is survived by paternal grandparents, Larry R. and Marsha Cross of Dunnville; a maternal grandmother, Tammy Hollifield of North Carolina; a brother, Willie Cross, Jr. of North Carolina; and a sister, Autum Cross of Columbia.

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

GURVIS BUIS

 

Gurvis W. Buis, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Casey County Hospital. He was 51.

 

Born on July 21, 1971, in Somerset, Kentucky, he was a son of Gurvis C. Buis and the late Donna Cravens Buis. Gurvis worked for Bruss North America Inc. He enjoyed kayaking, camping, hunting, and he simply loved life overall.

 

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Joella Blakey Buis, who he wed on August 9, 2008; a son, Dustin (Gracie Mitchell) Buis of Liberty; a daughter, Rachael (Dillon Culley) Buis of Washington State; two sisters, Selena Hall of Kansas and Jennifer (Stephen) Hendricksen of Illinois; mother-in-law, Barbara Jaggers of Somerset; father-in-law, Norman Blakey of Washington State; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating.

 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

CHARLOTTE LANHAM PHILLIPS

 

Charlotte Sue Lanham Phillips, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 79.

 

Born on November 29, 1943, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late James Coleman and Emma Neal Lanham. She was a nurses aid for twenty-six years. She enjoyed crocheting, woodworking, crafting, making candies, and cooking for others.

 

She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Lane and Alice Sallee, both of Liberty; a brother, Dennis (Sharon) Lanham of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews who looked forward to her Christmas candies and baked goodies every year.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Phillips, who passed away on February 16, 1999; five sisters, Marie Hendricks, Mary Neal, Ruth Galvin, Georgia Harris, and Phyllis Davis; seven brothers, Glenn Lanham, Floyd Lanham, Pershing Lanham, Ralph Lanham, Jimmy Lanham, Wesley Lanham, and Leland Lanham; and her beloved dog, Sissy.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Carpenter officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Lanhamtown Cemetery.

ETHEL DEAN WILLIAMS

 

Ethel Dean Williams, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at her home. She was 95.

 

Born on September 28, 1927, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Crit and Ollie Toms McDonald. Dean was formerly an apartment manager. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, art, and quilting.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Lannis King and Cathy (Ricky) Streeval; a son, Philip Allen Hoskins; five grandchildren, Jarrad (Melanie) King, Darra King (Brent Ellis), Leigh Marcum, Deana (Dennis) Wilson, and Paul (Becky) Streeval; eleven great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Kaleb) Durham, Brandon King, Logan Hatter (Krista Lee), Taylor Hatter (Ethan May), Dalton Wilson, Dillon Wilson, Bethanee Streeval, and Alyxsin (Logan) Walls, and three other great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren, Owen, Tillie, Paisley, Marlee, Brantley, and Dawson.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister; and two brothers.

 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Williams Cemetery on South Hwy. 501 with Bro. Casey Davis officiating.

 

DOROTHY BROWN

 

Dorothy Imogene Brown, age 97, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday July 14th, 2023, at the Liberty Care Center. She was born June 20th, 1926, in Yosemite, KY, a daughter of the late Earnest and Ora Rhoda Lanham Coleman.

 

She was the widow of Charles Irwin Brown.

 

Dorothy was a salesperson.

 

Survivors include: Three Grandchildren: Kris Brown of Cincinnati, OH, Scott Brown of OH and Ryan Brown, One Great Grandchild, Three Sisters: Betty Moran and Polly Durham both of Liberty and Peggy Combs of Hustonville.

 

In addition to her parents and spouse she was preceded in death by Two Sons: Steven Dale Brown and Charles Larry Brown, Two Sisters: Vivian Black and Frances Dinger and Two Brother: Charles and Earnest Ray Colman.

 

Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday July 19th, 2023 at Willow Springs Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Willow Springs Cemetery.

 

KIMBERLY PATTEN

 

Kimberly June Patten, age 59, of Middleburg, KY, passed away on Friday July 14th, 2023, at the Casey County Hospital. She was born August 21, 1963, in Louisville, KY, a daughter of June Frederick Carman of Middleburg and the late C.B. Carman.

 

Kimberly was a medical transcriptionist.

 

Survivors include: One Son: Kerry and (Lesli) Patten of Liberty, Two Daughters: Kelli Patten of Liberty and Kelsey Patten of Middleburg, Four Grandchildren: Colton, Jacob, Lylah and Liam, and Four Siblings: Karla and (Greg) Riddle of Liberty, Todd and (Angie) Carman of Middleburg, Kara and (Rick) Hundley of Middleburg and Kanita Carman of Washington State.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 20th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

CINDY HAYES

 

Cindy Hayes, age 54, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Thursday July 13th, 2023, at the U.K. Hospital.

 

She was born October 24th, 1968, in Liberty, KY, a daughter of Patty Lee of Columbia and the late Garnett Lee.

 

Cindy was a former employee of ACS, a secretary, and a member of Creston Baptist Church.

 

Additional Survivors include: Her Spouse: Thomas R. Hayes, One Son: Michael Thomas Hayes of Liberty, One Daughter: Bethany Danyelle Hayes of Liberty and One Brother: Jeffrey Dale and (Stephanie) Lee of Liberty.

 

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Saturday July 15th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.  

 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday July 16th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jeric DeVore officiating.

PATRICIA LUTTRELL

 

Patricia A. Luttrell age 69 of Dunnville, KY passed away on July 12th, 2023, at 12:40 pm at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 23rd, 1953, in Liberty, KY, she was the daughter of Jean (and the late) Arnold Hall.

 

Mrs. Pat as she was affectionately called by so many was always very active in her community and various youth programs.

 

Mrs. Pat was president of the ladies auxiliary for the soil conservation board where she helped with the scholarship program, she was also chairman of the Junior Miss scholarship program for Casey County for a couple of years, she was on the Casey County library board as she loved books and the great wealth of knowledge that they held. Mrs. Pat was involved in many other committees like 4-H, Pork Producers, and Casey County Homemakers, as well as serving on the Lake Cumberland Hospice Board.

 

Mrs. Pat graduated from Casey County High School in the early 70’s, she then attended SCC and WKU. She retired from the Casey County School System.

 

On August 31st, 1973, Mrs. Pat married the love of her life Harvey Luttrell. Together they would build a life they loved on their farm.

 

Mrs. Pat was a member of Bradley’s Pleasure Baptist Church for over 40 years where she was active and always willing to share her testimony, she was a walking testimony herself as she faced many health obstacles over her lifetime, but she never once complained or let is slow her down, she praised Jesus in all things the good and bad a true Christian example.

 

Mrs. Pat is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years Harvey Luttrell who was always by her side. She is also survived by her daughter Holly (Adam) Matherly of Liberty, KY, her mother Jean Hall of Liberty, KY and two grandchildren Conley and Kailee Matherly who she thought hung the moon. She leaves behind a slew of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.

 

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. on Sunday July 16th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday July 17th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Reggie Tipton and Bro. Rick Stump officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Spring Hollow Cemetery.

DALE WETHINGTON

 

Dale Wethington, of Clementsville, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, in Casey County. He was 71.

 

Born on March 1, 1952, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Joseph C. and Rose Bernice Wethington. He was a Methodist minister for numerous years and currently pastored at Slate Hill United Methodist Church. He also delivered newspapers for thirty-nine years. Dale enjoyed working on his farm and quilting.

 

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Payton of Liberty and Tara (Greg) George of Russell Springs; two granddaughters, Courtney and Breanna; a great-granddaughter, LillyAnn; two brothers, David (Marlene) Wethington and Tom (Brenda) Wethington; three sisters, Matilda Sapp, Lois (Jim) MacLaren, and Faye (Jody) Clements; and a special friend, Mary Rose Roy.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nanette Clements Wethington, who passed away on September 10, 2022; a son-in-law, Wayne Payton; two brothers, Curtis Wethington and Adrian Wethington; and three sisters, Mary Claire Wethington, Nina Underwood, and Paulita Cooper.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

 

Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

JERRY GARRETT

 

Jerry Clifford Garrett, age 79, of Dunnville, KY, passed away on Tuesday July 4th, 2023, at his residence. He was born January 4th, 1944, in Casey County, KY, a son of the late Carl and Edith Mills Garrett.

 

Jerry was a plumber, gate hauler, owner of J & G Distributing and a U.S. Army Veteran.

 

Survivors include: His Spouse: Glenda Garrett, Three Children: Jerry Brian and (Missy) Garrett of Dunnville, Tracy Garrett and (Larry) Baldock of Liberty and Carl Wayne and (Debbie) Garrett of Hustonville, Six Grandchildren: Courtney, Spencer, Sasha, Jordan, Brooklyn and Alyssa, Nine Great Grandchildren: Amelia, Arabella, Peyton, Jaxon, Raegan, Mason, Rylee, Levi and Carli.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by One Sister: Phyllis Garrett and One Brother: Gerald Garrett.

 

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. Thursday July 6th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.
