Born on January 24,1936 in Rusk County Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Jason and Gladys (Byers) Martin. He grew up on the family farm with his parents and eleven siblings, where they were pioneers, settling and clearing the land. At the age of eleven, Lloyd committed his life to Christ and following that commitment was baptized at the Sheldon Mennonite Church. His testimony often included "Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" Psalm 107:8

Lloyd married Sharon Marjorie Skrivseth, from Graceton, MN on June 30, 1958. They spent the first year of their marriage in Ohio where Lloyd had served the previous two years in 1-W Service. Following that they moved back to Wisconsin and began farming.

Lloyd worked tirelessly providing for his family, farming for many years, and taking on side jobs to provide for his family. He drove school bus full time for many years and then as a substitute driver. One of his bus students shared that he was her favorite bus driver. She was impressed that he was so kind and always looked out for a girl on her bus that had special needs. He didn't put up with foolishness, but the children always knew he cared about them. He was always quick to help those in need; giving a ride, changing a flat tire, even sharing our home with those in need of a place to stay. He cared about people and was always ready to help and serve in any way he could.

Over the last year he missed his bride and spent a lot of time reading her journals and her Bible getting strength from the verses that encouraged her. Psalm 31:24 " Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord."

He is survived by eleven of his children: Deloris (Keith) Clugston, McConnellsburg, PA; Marjorie Lanius, Thailand; Correne (Kim) Tait, Byron Center, MI; Laura (Robert) Kulp, Merrill, WI; Janice Martin, Goshen, IN; Alta (Jeff) Tucker, Liberty, KY; Mervin (Becky) Martin, Liberty, KY; Ruth (Troy) Ewer, Ladysmith, WI; Roxane (James) Miller, Goshen, IN; Titus (Jennifer) Martin, Liberty, KY; Eldon (Crystal) Martin, McConnellsburg, PA; 58 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Sharon Marjorie (Skrivseth) Martin, a son Rodney Lee, three brothers, Lester Martin, Ray Martin, and Marlin Martin, one sister, Martha Peggar, and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that were born too soon.
