REBECCA PATTERSON

 

Rebecca Jane Patterson, age 86 of Windsor, KY passed away on Sunday June 25th, 2023, at her residence. She was born on August 8th, 1936, in Campbellsville, KY, a daughter of the late William Carl and Elymus Ford Lewis.

 

Rebecca was a retired school teacher of the Casey County School District. She was a long time Sunday School teacher and WMU director at Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member.

 

Survivors include: Two Sons: Alan and (Lilly) Patterson and Keith and (Amy) Patterson, Three Grandchildren: Joshua Patterson, Jennifer and (Jake) Smith and Kelly Patterson, Two Great Grandchildren: Bo and Ty Smith and Two Brothers: William Carl, Jr. and (the late Brenda) Lewis of Shepherdsville, and Wendell and (Goldie) Lewis of Campbellsville.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents was Her Spouse: Walter Dale Patterson who passed away on February 17th, 2022.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday June 28th, 2023, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Dunnville, KY.

 

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday June 28th, 2023, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Bro. Dwight Coffman and Bro. Donovan Smith officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be: Joshua Patterson, Jake Smith, Mike Minton, Alan Coy, Lenuel Smith and Danny Roy.

 

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

 

JAMES 'JIM' MERRITT

 

James “Jim” Merritt, of Campbellsville, KY, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, in Lexington, KY. He was 79.

 

Born July 13, 1943, in Washington Court House, OH, he was a son of the late James Porter Merritt and Helen Frazier Merritt. Jim was a retired truck driver for New Holland. He was a Trustee and member of Victory Church. Jim was a US Army and National Guard Veteran. He loved witnessing for the Lord and going camping.

 

Survivors include his dear wife, Rosa Johnson Merritt; son, Tony (and Darlene) Merritt of Washington Court House, OH; daughter, Tina (and Andy) Everetts of New Holland, OH; sisters, Laverne “Fifi” (and Gary) Paul of Kettering, OH; 3 granddaughters, Cortney, Tori, and Tiffany; and 3 great-grandchildren, Madi, Alexander, and Lainey.

 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Fletcher.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00PM on Monday, June 26, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Pastors Josh Estes and Vernon Luttrell officiating.

 

Visitation will be after 12:00 on Monday at the funeral home.

 

Graveside funeral services and military honors will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday at the Washington Cemetery in Washington Court House, OH with Pastor Joe Duvall officiating.

JO HARRIS WILKINSON

 

Jo Harris Wilkinson, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Casey County Hospital. She was 76.

 

Born January 1, 1947, in Logan Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late John and Mae Whitson Harris. Jo retired after 29 years as a teacher for Casey County High School. She was an active member of First Christian Church. Jo graduated in 1965 from Lewisburg High School and in 1969 from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She also later obtained her Rank II from Eastern Kentucky University.

 

Survivors include her son, Jay Wilkinson (and Carla Wilcher); daughter, Karri Beth (and Lawrence) Marinelli; grandsons, Jayson (and Melyssa) Wilkinson and Austin (and Jessica) Ross; great-granddaughter, Madelynn Wilkinson; and sister, Alicia Ann Harper.

 

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James M. “J.O.” Wilkinson, who passed away on May 20, 2012; and her sister, Mary Emma Anderson.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at First Christian Church with Bro. Bob Mallory officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 6-9PM on Monday, June 26, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and Tuesday from 9-11AM at First Christian Church.

 

Pallbearers will be Jay Wilkinson, Jayson Wilkinson, Lawrence Marinelli, David Cundiff, Danny Jeffries, and Jim Coffey.

LEON PETTYJOHN

 

Leon M. Pettyjohn, age 87, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away on Wednesday June 21st, 2023, at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born December 25th, 1935, in Liberty, KY. He was the son of the late Oscar Lee Pettyjohn and Mayme Harrod Pettyjohn.

 

Leon was a carpenter a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

 

Survivors include: Three Daughters: Vicki Linker of Indianapolis, IN, Carla Simpson of Stanford and T.C. Rogers of Perryville, Seven Grandchildren, One Great Grandchild, One Brother: Oscar Pettyjohn of Midway and One Sister: Inez and (Bobby C.) Woodrum of Liberty.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents  was Three Brothers: Donald, Flam “Dee” and Hugh Pettyjohn and Four Sisters: Alma Cowell, Mildred Denney, Helen Reed and Ina Pettyjohn.

 

Graveside Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday June 27th, 2023 at Caney Fork Cemetery. Dave Holt officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Caney Fork Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Casey County Honor Guard.

MAXINE SCOTT

 

Maxine May Scott, of Liberty, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was 81 years old.

 

Born October 18, 1941, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ed Lee and Eva Ellen (Atwood) Edwards. Maxine loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

 

Maxine was the widower of Clyde Scott which passed away on June 19, 1994.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Terri Scott of Liberty, Kentucky, Tracy (Ronnie) Aaron of Russell Springs, Kentucky, three grandchildren Katelyn (Chantz) Montgomery, Cameron Aaron (Star Marcum), and Kerigan Aaron of Russell Springs, Kentucky and a brother John Edwards of Liberty, Kentucky.

 

Preceding her in death beside her parents and spouse were siblings, Lawrence Edwards, James Edwards, Marshal Edwards, Glen Edwards, Ob Edwards, Magdaline Edwards, Modine Edwards and Vivian Pearl Edwards.

 

A funeral service will be at 1:30 P.M. EDT Friday, June 23, 2023 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeremy Atwood presiding.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. EDT until time of service.

 

JESSE 'JD' EWING

 

Jesse David “J.D.” Ewing, age 68, of Bradfordsville, KY, passed away on Saturday June 17th, 2023, at the U.K. Healthcare. He was born March 15th, 1955, in Lebanon, KY, a son of the late Jesse and Opal Herren Ewing.

 

J.D. was a retired teacher for the Marion County School System, farmer, Elder and Sunday School Teacher for Pleasant Valley Christian Church.

 

Survivors include: One Sister: Mary Lee and (Jacob) Beeler of Bradfordsville, One Nephew: Anthony Beeler, and Two Great Nephews: Cameron Beeler and Carson Beeler both of Bradfordsville.

 

Visitation will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday June 22nd, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.  

 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday June 22nd, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Delane Pinkston and Rev. William Miller officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Old Liberty Cemetery.

 

JAMES 'PJ' MILLS

 

James “P.J.” Mills, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. He was 53.

 

Born on August 9, 1969, in Taylor County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late James Patrick and Mable Darlene Mills Wethington. P.J. had worked as a drywaller, forklift operator, and gate hauler. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, sitting under a good shade tree, and the show, Yellowstone.

 

He is survived by a sister, Valerie Wethington of Liberty; a brother, Jeremy Wethington of Liberty; a sister-in-law, Kim McNear; and nieces and nephews, Justin, Brandon, Miranda, Brittany, Jerry, Brennan, Adam, and Jackson.

 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

 

Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers will be Justin Cain, Brandon Cain, Jimmy McNear, Barry Mills, Joseph Wise, and Ricky Patten.

CRYSTAL BROWN HATTER

 

Crystal Tierra Brown Hatter, age 31, of Yosemite, KY, passed away on Tuesday June 13th, 2023, at the Casey County Hospital. She was born August 12th, 1991, in Danville, KY, a daughter of Terry and Dawn Stewart Brown.

 

Crystal was a caregiver.

 

Additional Survivors include: One Daughter: Bailey Monroe Hatter of Liberty, One Son: Ledger Lynn Hatter of Liberty, One Brother: Matthew James Brown of Mesa, AZ, One Sister: Ashley Nicole Brown of Liberty, Three Nieces: Kelsey, Harper, and Amelia and One Nephew: James.

 

Visitation will be held 12:00 Noon Friday June 16th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.  

 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday June 16th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Ed Bray officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Lanhamtown Cemetery.

 

OTIS PATTERSON

 

Otis M. Patterson son of the late Herbert Patterson and Daisy Lee Miller, was born June 8, 1942 in Casey County, Kentucky and departed this life on June 10, 2023. He was 81. 

 

He was united in marriage to Nora Ann Patterson for 61 years. 

 

Survivors include one son, Rick M. Patterson of Somerset, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his passing. 

 

His wife Nora Ann Patterson and one daughter Susan Annette Patterson preceded him in death. 

 

Visitation will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Thomas Ridge Road of the Dunnville community from 11 to 12 on Wednesday June 14, 2023. 

 

A service will follow with Bro. Marshall Malone presiding. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. 

 

Pallbearers will be Joe Means, Tom Canada, Jamie Roy, Darrell Shaw, David Patterson and Johnny Martin. 

 

In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Oak Grove Baptist Church.

JUANITA SIMPSON

 

Juanita Kay Simpson, age 57, of Yosemite, KY, passed away on Saturday June 10th, 2023, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born May 31st, 1966, in Cincinnati, OH, a daughter of the late Bobby Gerald and Geraldine Sanders Goodman.

 

Juanita was a truck driver.

 

Survivors include: Her Spouse: Ricky J. Simpson, One Sister: Melissa Gay Walls, Two Nieces: Natasha West and Micaela Goodman, Four Nephews: Devin and James Goodman, and Cody and Justin Lynn, Four Great Nieces: Natalia, Aurora, Katie and Taylor and One Great Nephew: Weston.

 

Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday June 13th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.
