VAL ALLEN

 

Val Alby Allen, age 70, of, Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday February 22nd, 2023, at the Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 8th, 1952, in Casey Co., KY, a son of the late Alby Lee Allen and Georgia Ruth Hayes Allen.

 

Val was a former manager for a furniture store.

 

Survivors include: One Daughter: Lynne and (James) Stephenson of FL, One Granddaughter : Rylyn Stephenson, and Five Siblings: Teddy Allen of Nicholasville, Judith Ann Carlisle of Oceanside, CA, William Christopher Allen of Shepherdsville, Rita Louellen Bohanon of Campbellsville and Jeff Allen of Shepherdsville.

 

Cremation Rites were honored by Bartle Funeral Home.

 

LYDA EMERSON CAUDILL

 

Lyda Emerson Caudill, of Westfield, IN, formerly from Casey County, KY, passed away on February 21, 2023, at Wellbrooke of Westfield. She was 89.

 

Born on October 9, 1933, in Casey County, KY, Lyda was the daughter of the late Amos and Fae Delp Emerson. Lyda and her late husband, Bob, raised four sons. She worked at RCA and Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, IN. Lyda also assisted Bob in the service station business in Anderson, IN and Louisville, KY. Bob and Lyda lived in Anderson from 1956 to 1979, then moved to Louisville where they enjoyed a 5-acre mini-farm from 1979 through 2019. Lyda and Bob were married for 71 years. Lyda enjoyed church, playing cards, animals of all kinds, travel, and most of all her family.

 

Lyda is survived by sons, Mickael (Donna) of Muncie, IN, Steve (Janet) of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, and Jerry (Jenny) of Noblesville, IN. Lyda’s youngest son, Jeff, preceded her in death. She enjoyed 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Other survivors include her brothers, Ralph Emerson (Vivian) of Georgetown, TX and Dennie Emerson (Janet) of Noblesville, IN.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, KY. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.

 

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the same location on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

 

Memorial donations may be given in Lyda’s memory to a charity of your choice.

HELEN WATTS

 

Helen Jean (Nana Jean) Watts, age 86, of, Kings Mountain, KY, passed away on Wednesday February 22nd, 2023, at the Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 27th, 1936, in Lincoln Co., KY, a daughter of the late Ollie and Flonnie Rash Baugh.

 

Helen was the widow of Billie Lewis Watts who passed away on March 19th, 2015.

Helen was a farmer and a member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include: Two Daughters: Jacqueline Kaye Allen and the late Ronald Allen of Middleburg, Terri Annette and (David) Wright of Somerset, Two Sons: Randy Lewis and (Aleisha) Watts of Kings Mountain and Ricky and (Beverly) Watts of Danville, Nine Grandchildren: Kellie and (Ryan) Atwood, Chris and (Amber) Cain, Kristin and (Chris) Fisher, Courtney and (Rodney) Burton, Jared and (Amber) Watts, Stephanie Watts, Madison and (Caler) Edwards, Mackenzie and (Emery) Bishop and Kisha and (Adam) Hicks and Seventeen Great Grandchildren.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was Two Grandchildren: Caitlyn Wright and Andrew Allen, Two Brothers: Clyde and Clell Baugh and One Sister: Ruth Johnson.

SAUNDRA SEARS

 

Saundra Lee Sears, age 74, of, Middleburg, KY, passed away on Thursday February 16th, 2023, at her residence. She was born October 14th, 1948, in Hamilton Co., OH, a daughter of the late Ora Lee Johnson and Ellen B. Christian Johnson.

 

Saundra was the widow of Raymond Lee “Butch” Sears who passed away on January 17th, 2006.

Saundra was a former manager for Roses’ in Danville, a former Dep. Judge Executive for 10 years and a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church.

 

Survivors include: One Son: Raymond Ora and (Lisa) Sears of Windsor, One Granddaughter: Mallory Blake Sears, and Two Brothers: David H. and (Margaret) Johnson and Douglas and (Patty) Johnson both of Liberty.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was One Daughter: Melissa Susan Sears, One Sister: Leah Johnson Disco and One Brother: Ora Lee Johnson Jr.

TOMMY BRYANT

 

Thomas “Tommy” Bryant, of Liberty, passed away at 3:20 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Casey County Hospital. He was 68.

 

Born January 14, 1955, in Liberty, KY, he was a son of the late James T. and Mary Jane Allen Bryant. Tommy was a former employee of the Kentuckiana Barge Company. He was a good-hearted man that loved his family very much.

 

Survivors include his dear wife, Linda Overstreet Bryant of Liberty; sons, Kevin (and Jessica) Bryant of Liberty and Chris Bryant of Louisville; brothers, Dennis (and Ruth) Bryant of Liberty and Danny (and Martha) Bryant of Louisville; sister, Ella (and Jr.) Perkins of Bradfordsville; sister-in-law, Pam Bryant of Liberty; grandchildren, Destiny, Larissa, Katie, Jaxson, and Ava; and one great-granddaughter, Lily.

 

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Bryant; and grandson, Brody Bryant.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Edwards officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Whited Cemetery.

LILBURN VAUGHN

 

Lilburn R. Vaughn, age 87, passed away at 6:40 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Ephraim McDowell Reginal Medical Center in Danville.

 

Born January 18, 1936, in Casey County in a home built by his grandfather, Lilburn was the son of Russell and Della Lewellen Vaughn. He retired after 39 years as an Electrical Engineer for the Dupont Company. Lilburn was an active member of the Liberty United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing hunting, farming, gardening, and all things outdoors.

 

Survivors include his dear wife, whom he wed on March 21, 1964, Lynda Hosler Vaughn; daughter, Paige (and Chuck) King of Lumberton, TX; son, Jonathan (and Molly) Vaughn of Dunnville; four grandchildren, Heather (and Jason) Reagan, Tara (and Trey) Martinez, Jenna Vaughn, and Abby Vaughn; and 4 great-grandchildren, Rusty Wilson, Jettson Martinez, Brady Reagan, and Lainey Reagan.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis Marie Cooper.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Koger officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.

MELVIN MILLER

 

Melvin W. Miller, infant son of Wallace J. and Ada J. Miller, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at his home in Columbia, KY. He was one day and 4 ½ hours young.

 

Born at home on February 15, 2023, he leaves to mourn his passing his parents, Wallace J. and Ada J. Miller; siblings, Noah, Eli, Jemima, Malinda, Sarah, Ervin, and Emanuel; paternal grandparents, John J. and Fannie J. Miller; paternal great-grandfather, Noah Detweiler; maternal grandparents, Jacob L. Miller and Mary J. Wengerd; and maternal great-grandfather, Jake L. Wengerd.

 

All services for Melvin W. Miller will be held privately at the Wallace Miller residence with William Miller officiating.

 

Burial will be held privately in the Dunnville Cemetery.

MICHAEL HREHA

 

Michael David Hreha, of Harrodsburg, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at his residence. He was 70.

 

Born on September 20, 1952, in Liberty, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Orpha Lee Wheeler Hreha. Michael was retired from Hitachi. He was a good-natured, selfless, and very helpful Christian man.

 

Michael is survived by a brother, Tommy (Brenda) Hreha of Stanford; a sister, Karen (Ronnie) Luttrell of Liberty; nieces, Kelli Payne and Emily Luttrell; and aunts, Roxie Rice, Violet Smith, and Naomi Goodman.

 

Services for Mr. Michael Hreha will be held privately.

 

Burial will be in Rich Hill Cemetery.

William Howard Hall, age 82, of, Lebanon, KY, passed away on Thursday February 9th, 2023, at his residence. He was born July 3rd, 1940, in Liberty, KY, a son of the late Harlan and Ruth Allen Hall.

 

William was a retired supervisor at Arvin in Franklin, IN.

 

Survivors include: His Spouse: Freda Hamm Hall, Eight Children: William H. Hall II, Betty Ann Layman, Beverly Hall, Bryan Branaman, Robert Grass, Daniel Grass, and Kimberly Ann Hall all of Indiana, and Jessica Jones of Lebanon, Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, Two Brothers: Frebert Hall and Gary Hall both of IN, One Sister: Catherine Weddle of IN, Special Friends: Jason Martin and Joey Jones and his Dog: Steve Earl.

Steven Douglas Hiter, age 52, of, Hustonville, KY, passed away on Friday February 10th, 2023, at his residence. He was born February 20th, 1970, in Cincinnati, OH, a son of Sheila Smith Riger and (Kent) of Cincinnati, OH and the late Roy Lee Hiter.

 

Steven was a truck driver for Taylor Trucking Co.

 

Survivors include: His Sister: Tamela Jo and (Joshua) Knoblett of Sadieville, KY, Nieces and Nephews: Janis Sodano, Michael Paul Duncan and Seth Thomas Duncan and Madeline Michelle Knoblett, Special Cousins: David and Danny Jones and numerous Cousins.

REESE PREWITT

 

Reese “Shorty” Prewitt, of Dunnville, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at his home. He was 93.

 

Born on January 28, 1930, in Little Britton Township, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Reese Randall and Agnes Rowland Prewitt. Reese was a farmer, carpenter, and a great mechanic. He enjoyed shooting trap and skeet.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Tim) Ankney of Oxford, Pennsylvania; a granddaughter, Monna Sue Flynn; and three great-granddaughters, Emily, Kayla, and Ashley Flynn. Other survivors include a brother, Herbert Prewitt of Rock Hall, Maryland; and two sisters, Bernice Hollifield and Mary Hamm, both of Elkton, Maryland.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Robinson Prewitt, who passed away on May 10, 2010; and five sisters, Pauline Baker, Betty Osborne, Bonnie Weller, Ruby Peterson, and Carolyn Zeller.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Dillard Lee, age 76, of, Yosemite, KY, passed away on Tuesday February 7th, 2023, at his residence. He was born February 10th, 1946, in Casey Co., KY, a son of the late Perry and Beachel Hardwick Lee.

 

Dillard was a heavy equipment operator.

ELLEN MURPHY

 

Ellen Rose Murphy, age 83 of Liberty, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 5th surrounded by her closest family.  

 

Born January 19, 1940 Rose was a former employee of Liberty Sportswear, but most knew her by her many years of devotion to children in the Casey Co. school system where she served as a Kindergarten teachers assistant at both Douglas Elementary and Walnut Hill elementary. “Mrs. Rose” as her students called her, was never too busy, too tired or too distracted to give a little extra help and love to the students who needed it most. 

 

Once retired, Rose spent much of her time traveling with her sisters, Ann Lynn, Nancy Durham, Jeanie Murphy, Tommye Allen and her many, many girlfriends. From Gatlinburg to Branson, Wisconsin to Washington, D.C. she loved seeing the beauty of our nation and she felt the most joy on the white sand beaches of Florida. 

 

Rose is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Ernest Murphy and her parents Tom and Oba Davis. 

 

In addition to her sisters, Rose is survived by her daughter Jennifer, her husband Chris Godbey of Liberty, KY, their daughters Emily (Jason) Fox and Natalie (Charlie) Fox and her son Jeff Murphy of Liberty, KY and his daughters Eryn Murphy and Katie (Joe) Duffy. Along with six great-grand children, Stella, Vivian, Stanley, Boone T., McCauley and Clara Rose. And many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday February 8th, 2023 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday February 9th, 2023 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jason Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.

 

BENNIE DUNHAM

 

Bennie Ray Dunham, age 71, of, Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday February 3rd, 2023, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was born May 5th, 1951, in Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Corbit and Christine Baskerville Dunham.

 

Bennie was a former restaurant owner of Dairy Queen in Franklin, TN.

 

Survivors include: His Partner: Elaine Ford, Three Children: Jamy Dunham and (Hernan) Borda of Franklin, TN, William Ray Dunham of Nashville, TN and Melissa and (Chad) Vaughn of Hustonville, KY, Five Grandchildren: Sky, Gabby, Izzy, Lucio and Cala, One Brother: Ernest and (Shelia) Dunham of Florida, and Two Sisters: Lucille and (Melvin) Johnson of Rolley and Louise and (Wayne) Stearman of Campbellsville.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was One Brothe: Vernest Dunham and One Sister: Mary Helen Cochran Rodgers.

Stephen Brent Minton, age 55, of, Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday February 1st, 2023, at the U.K. Medical Center. He was born February 18, 1967, in Harrodsburg, KY, a son of the late Jimmie and Lorine Dorice Peavler Minton.

 

Stephen was a self-employed truck driver.

 

Survivors include: His Spouse: Sheila Lynn Minton, Six Children: Joshua Stephen Minton, Jacob Jeremiah Minton, Josmar Julian Christopher Minton, Drayden Frost Minton, Miracle Grace Minton and Stetson Xavier Minton all of Liberty and One Brother: Billy Edwin and (Mary) Minton of Harrodsburg.

William Ural Mullins, age 92, of, Richmond KY, passed away on Tuesday January 31st, 2023, at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born December 11th, 1930, in Marion Co., KY, a son of the late Elton and Hazel Whitlock Mullins.

 

William was a retired District Manager for Dollar General and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

 

Survivors include: His Spouse: Dorothy Lear Mullins, One Son: Randy Mullins of Liberty, Two Grandchildren: Kimberly and (Michael) Carrier and Teneshia Mullins, Three Great Grandchildren: Sophie Carrier, Jerred Oney and Dalton Jenkins, One Sister: Donna Brown of Shepherdsville and One Stepdaughter: Linda and (Rex) Turner of Richmond.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was his First Spouse: Geneva McAnelly Mullins who passed away on November 14, 1994, One Sister: Carolyn Henderson and One Stepson: Sammy Vaughn.

LEONARD BURTON

 

Leonard Wayne Burton, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at his home. He was 65.

 

Born on April 24, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late James O. and Darlene Wells Burton. Leonard was a truck driver. He attended Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Martin Burton; a son, Kenneth Cody Wayne (Melissa) Burton; a daughter, Brandy (Jeremy) Carman; two step-sons, Brian (Jaime) Moran and Tim (Tonya) Moran; two step-daughters, Kitty (Randy Edwards) Paris and Stephanie (Jeremy Ayres) Moran; a grandchild, Emmalynn Carman; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Darrell Ray Burton.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Dallas James “Jimmy” Burton; a sister, Tiffany Kitchens; and his maternal grandparents that raised him, Cecil Ambrose and Esther Mae Thompson Wells.

KATHY DURHAM

 

Kathy Rose Foster Durham, of Stanford, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Baptist Health Lexington. She was 66.

 

Born on January 20, 1957, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Bob and Nita Dalton Foster. Kathy was a talented beautician. She worked for several years at Hair Masters in Danville. She was a member of Willow Springs United Methodist Church. Kathy enjoyed crafting, painting, watching television, puzzles, and making floral arrangements. She loved spending time with her family. There was truly nothing she could not do.

 

She is survived by a son, Willie Ray (Kim) Durham of Lancaster; two daughters, Sharonita Adams of Stanford and Heather (Dennis) Durham of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Bryce (Elizabeth), Dayanara (Ben), Irish (Alex), Greinlei (Zach), Cadence, Taesley, and Brylee; and six great-grandchildren, Jace, Colt, Dawson, Emery, Lyam, and Oaklynn. Other survivors include three brothers, Robert (Charlene) Foster of Stanford, Roger (Lisa) Foster of Mitchellsburg, and Marcus Dean Foster of Stanford; and a sister, Sharon (Billy) Franklin of Stanford.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Robin Mitchell.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Willow Springs United Methodist Church with Bro. Larry Cochran officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Willow Springs Cemetery. The family wishes to invite everyone to a meal after the burial which will be held at Stanford Baptist Church at 3:30 P.M.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Willow Springs United Methodist Church.

 

Pallbearers will be Waylon Boyd, Travis Johnson, Brandon Franklin, Daniel Foster, Ty Foster, and Michael Shane Hale.

 

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to assist the family in offsetting funeral expenses.
