JESSE HAFLEY

 

Jesse Leon Hafley, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset.

 

Born on June 11, 1943, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Jess and Elizabeth Wheeler Hafley. Leon was a gate hauler. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

 

He is survived by two sons, Jeffery Hafley of Indiana and Glenn (Lynn) Garrett of Louisiana; a daughter, Joni Wiser of Liberty; a stepson, Shawn (Sheila) Coffman of Liberty; and numerous grandchildren. Other survivors include brothers, Danny (Viola) Hafley of Liberty, Jerry (Jean) Hafley, Robert (Ada) Hafley, and Wayne (Betty) Hafley, all of Indianapolis; a sister, Betty Medlin of Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Hafley; and brothers, Darrell Hafley, Johnny Hafley, and Dallas Gene Hafley.

 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Stacey Cochran officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Clearview Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

GREGORY BALDOCK

 

Gregory Lee Baldock, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his home. He was 57.

 

Born on April 17, 1967, in Danville, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Paul Edward and Rose Luttrell Baldock. Greg was a gate hauler. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.

 

He is survived by a son, Ryan (Bethany) Baldock; daughter, Jessica (Tommy) Passmore; fiancé, Tammy Patterson; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Tracy) Baldock and Tim (Joanie) Baldock; and his pet dog, Maggie.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Michael Wayne Paul Baldock; and a brother, Gary Baldock.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Burton officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

VIVIAN McQUEARY

 

Vivian Mae McDonald McQueary, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Casey County Hospital. She was 83.

 

Born on October 14, 1940, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Glenabelle Meeks McDonald. Vivian was of the Church of Christ faith. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and most of all, caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a mother to many.

 

She is survived by three sons, Mike (Terri) McQueary, Darrell (Linda) McQueary, and Jeff McQueary, all of Liberty; a daughter, Lesa (Jamie) Martin of Kings Mountain; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, J.D. (the late Carolyn) McDonald of Woodbury, TN, Dale (the late Wanda) McDonald of Liberty, Larry (Helen) McDonald of Liberty, and Garry McDonald of Liberty; and a sister, Barbara (the late Oris) Barlow of Cincinnati.

 

In addition to her parents, Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Junior McQueary, who passed away on August 28, 2015; a son, Harold Lee McQueary; and a sister, Bonnie A. McDonald.

 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Hill officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Contown Cemetery.

JOHN PRICE

 

John Cecil Price, age 79 of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Jean Waddle Care Center.  

 

John was born on March 18, 1945 at Public, KY to Cecil Price and Hulda Harper Price.  He worked as a mechanic for the Somerset Chevrolet Garage and later as a self employed mechanic.   He was a member of Sinking Valley Baptist Church.  John loved his dune buggy “Dixie”, collected stomper cars, enjoyed skeet shooting and guns, C B radios and computers.  When John got into a task, he gave 100%.

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one son, Timothy (Julie) Price of Somerset; one grandson, Adam Price; one sister, Vivian (Barney) Nicely of Somerset; one brother, Edwin (Linda) Price of Somerset; one sister in law, Jalene Price of Somerset; his only surviving aunt, Joan Rodgers of Cincinnati; a loved fur baby “Mario”; and a host of nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends who are saddened by his passing.

 

John was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Hulda Price; his sister, Kathleen (Chester) Harris; two brothers, Bill (Gina) Price and Jerry Price.

 

Visitation for John Price will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  

 

The Funeral Service will follow on May 1, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Bullock and Bro. Shawn Bailey officiating.  

 

Burial will be in the Sinking Valley Cemetery.

FOUSTINE DAVENPORT

 

Faustine Davenport, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Somerwoods Nursing in Somerset. She was 85.

 

Born on April 26, 1938, in Casey County, Kentucky, Faustine was a daughter of the late Stewart and Lucy Copley Sallee. She loved gardening and flowers, cooking, and watching westerns. She was an active member at Labascus Church of Christ.

 

Faustine is survived by two sons, Dennis Davenport and Kenny (Waynetta) Davenport, both of Liberty; two sisters, Fonniel Davenport of Casey County and Betty Harris of Indiana; and four grandchildren, Jennifer, Angel, Austin, and Aaron.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Davenport, Jr., who passed away on December 11, 2015.

 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at South Fork Cemetery with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow.

 

Pallbearers will be Chad Davenport, Joe Randolph, Matthew Davenport, Timmy Davenport, Austin Luttrell, and Dennis Davenport.

MARILYN WESLEY

 

Marilyn Wesley, age 76, of Bethelridge, KY, passed away on Tuesday April 23rd, 2024, at the Casey County Hospital. She was born June 16th, 1947, in Casey Co., KY, a daughter of the late Ernest Lee Roberts and Jeanette Godbey Roberts.

 

Marilyn was a caregiver; an active member of Valley Oak Baptist Church and she accepted her savior Jesus Christ at the age of 13 and stayed faithful until her passing.

 

Survivors include: her spouse: Jay Wesley whom she married on December 24th, 1968, two children: Marty Wesley of Bethelridge and Julie and (Tim) Holt of Danville, one sister: Judy and (Robert) Lawless of Bethelridge and one brother: Jerry and (Sharon) Roberts of Liberty.

 

Preceding her in death besides her parents was one brother: Terry Lee Roberts.

 

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Friday April 26th, 2024, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 27th, 2024, at Valley Oak Baptist Church.

TWANA WETHINGTON

 

Twana Darlene Wethington, formerly of Casey County, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her residence in Marion County, Kentucky.

 

Born on March 4, 1970, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Pemberton and Brenda Rodgers Christian. Twana enjoyed crocheting, gardening, flowers, camping and the outdoors.

 

She is survived by a son, Kenny Dale Webb; a daughter, Kendra Webb; two sisters, Carlo Baldock and Lovanda Lynn Isaacs; a brother, Shannon Christian: and 2 grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Pemberton.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at St. Bernard Cemetery with Bro. Casey Davis officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be Rusty Lynn, Jimmy Greer, Rick Payton, and Bobby Todd Roberts.

DENNIS ROY

 

Dennis Reed Roy, age 62, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Saturday April 20th, 2024, at the Jean Waddle Care Center. He was born September 5th, 1961, in Liberty, KY, a son of the late Wallace Reed Roy and Frances Durrett Roy.

 

Dennis was a project manager for construction.

 

Survivors include: his spouse: Melissa Ann McGuire Roy and one sister: Teresa and (Keith) Bourne.

 

A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 P.M. till 3:00 P.M. Saturday May 4th, 2024 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

WILLIAM HESS

 

William Samuel Hess, age 81, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday April 17th, 2024, at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital. He was born November 3rd, 1942, in Robinson, IL, a son of the late Orlando Nelson Hess and Flossie Juanita Culp Hess.

 

William was the widower of Roberta Mercer Hess who passed away on January 1st, 2018.

 

William was a Retired U.S. Air Force Veteran and a Retired Casey Co. School Bus Driver.

 

Survivors include: three sons: Bill Hess of Liberty, Robert and (Christina) Hess of MN, and John and (Katrina) Hess of Liberty, four grandchildren: Hannah, Kira, Aryona and Eli and one sister: Sue Grotts of Pana, IL.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents and spouse was two children, one grandson: Kyler Hess and one sister: Janie Walters.

 

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Monday April 22nd, 2024, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday April 23rd, 2024, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Father Jinto Thomas officiating.

 

Burial will be in the St. Bernards Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard.

 

MARSHALL LEE

 

Marshall F. Lee, age 78, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday April 17th, 2024, at his residence. He was born August 15th, 1945, in Dunnville, KY, a son of the late Shelton Marion Lee and Beulah Harrison Lee.

 

Marshall was the widower of Frances Loretta Lee who passed away on September 27th, 2018.

Marshall was a U. S. Army Veteran and a truck driver.

 

Survivors include: two sons: Michael and (Tammy) Lee and Mark and (Chatty) Lee both of Liberty, three grandchildren: Madison and (Hunter) Cleary, Tristan Lee and Laci and (Lucas) Salyers, one great grandchild: Elowyn Faith Cleary and one sister: Wanda Owens of Bethelridge, KY.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents and spouse was one sister: Mary Ann Lee and one brother: Phillip Lee.

 

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

MARTHA THOMPSON

 

Martha Turner Thompson, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was 69.

 

Born on July 19, 1954, in Barren County, KY, she was a daughter of the late William Jessie and Lillie Matthews Turner. Martha was a retired first grade teacher with Liberty Elementary School.  She was a member of West Side Christian Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. Martha was a loving mother and adored her grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her son, Brad (and Jennifer) Thompson of Plainfield, IN and her daughter, Emily (and David) Jones of Science Hill; granddaughters, Isabella, Allison and Macie; and grandson, Brody; and her sisters, Sue (and Bobby) Elmore of Glasgow and Jan (and Gary) Clifford of Hodgenville.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Dwayne Thompson, who passed away on March 20, 2023; and her sister, JoAnn Turner.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Shackleford and Bro. Tim Carman officiating. 

 

Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery.

James Keith Passmore, age 53, of Lebanon, KY, passed away on Tuesday April 16th, 2024, at his residence. He was born August 29th, 1970, in Liberty, KY, a son of the late Kenneth Passmore and Locia Murphy Passmore Pingleton.

 

Keith was a gate hauler.

 

Survivors include: one daughter: Destiny and (Adam) Bennett of Jamestown, KY, one grandson: Bryson Adams, and one brother: David and (Barbara) Passmore of Liberty.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was one daughter: Dosha Passmore, two brothers: Anthony and Roy Passmore and one sister: Sherry Perkins.

SHERLEAN WILSON

 

Sherlean Wilson, formerly of Casey County, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at her home. She was 86.

 

Born on July 4, 1937, in Nancy, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Retta Pittman Davenport. Sherlean retired after twenty-five years of service from Burke Marketing as a Data Coder. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved tennis, music, flowers, and animals, especially her cats. Her greatest joys in life were her husband and son.

 

She is survived by a son, Martin Wilson of Florence.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rollin Wilson, who passed away on July 7, 2002; a sister, Margie Spaw; and a nephew, Kenny Spaw.

 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Poplar Hill Cemetery with Barry Lee and Matt Willoughby officiating.

Frederick Edward McNeil Jr., age 80, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Tuesday April 16th, 2024, at his residence. He was born December 18th, 1943, in Miami, FL, a son of the late Agnes Leigh Bailey and Wesley Bailey.

 

Frederick was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran and a truck driver.

 

Survivors include: his spouse: Debra Franklin McNeil, five children, three stepchildren, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday April 19th, 2024, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

OTIS TAPSCOTT

 

Otis F. Tapscott, 85, of Liberty passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024.  Born May 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Jim and Bertha Long Tapscott.

 

Otis has hauled gates, logged, and farmed with tobacco.

 

He is survived by his sons, Otis Ray Tapscott and Danny Joe (Debbie) Tapscott; brothers: Shirley Tapscott of Liberty, Oval (Brenda) Tapscott of Campbellsville, and Ronnie (Debbie) Tapscott of Liberty; sister Rosie Mae Peyton of Liberty; granddaughter, Rachel Danielle (Brandon) Swinney of Liberty; and great grandson, Daniel Swinney. 

 

Visitation is 11am-1pm, Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home with funeral to follow at 1pm with Bro. Ed Parton officiating. 

 

Pallbearers are Chris Tapscott, Brandon Swinney, Chris Bryant, Greg Tapscott, Michael Tapscott, Bodie Tapscott, Lane Tapscott, and Brady Tapscott.

JAMES & TERESA BURTON

 

James O. Burton, 67, and Teresa Ann Burton, 56, of Yosemite, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, in Liberty.

 

Born on June 17, 1956, in Liberty, Kentucky, James was a son of the late Elmer and Lucille Buck Burton. He was a welder and was a member of Christ Tabernacle. He was an avid UK Wildcats and Kansas City Chiefs fan. James enjoyed listening to the radio, playing basketball with the grandkids, and traveling.

 

Born on December 1, 1967, in Columbus, Indiana, Teresa was a daughter of Helen McFarland Caudill of Liberty and the late Marshall Caudill. Teresa was a caregiver and was a member of Christ Tabernacle, as well. She loved her children and grandchildren, teaching her Sunday School class, arts and crafts, scrapbooking, traveling, and cooking.

 

James is survived by his children, Josh (Cassie) Burton of Liberty, Jason (Angie Spears) Burton of Liberty, Jordan (Kaylee) Burton of Liberty, Jacob (Ticia Aranda) Burton of Russell Springs, and Bethany Burton of Harrodsburg; and siblings, Ramona (Paul) Martin of Liberty, Shirley Hayes of Liberty, Darrell (Anita) Burton of Liberty, and Francis Allen of Edinburgh, Indiana.

 

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his former spouse, Barbara Burton; and a sibling, Phillip Burton.

 

In addition to her mother, Teresa is survived by her children, Cassie (Josh) Burton of Liberty, Brandon (Kayla Hayes) Cooper of South Carolina, Ericia (Wade) Cornett of Liberty, Dakota Lemons of Liberty, and Jackie Dylan Cooper of Liberty; and siblings, John Gadberry of Campbellsville, Diane Buck of Liberty, and Donna (Mark) Murphy of Liberty.

 

In addition to her father, Teresa is preceded in death by her former spouse, Buck Lemons.

Mr. and Mrs. Burton are survived by twenty-three grandchildren and are preceded in death by five grandchildren, Elijah, Emma, Charlie, Skyler, and Kade.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Christ Tabernacle with Bro. Patrick Lovett and Bro. Lee Burton officiating. Burial will follow in McFarland Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Christ Tabernacle.
