BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT TRANSPORTED BACK TO RUSSELL COUNTY FROM TENNESSEE

 

At approximately 5:00pmCT on Saturday, September 28, 2019, 51-year-old William Grabel of Lafollette, TN was transported from a Pennsylvania jail and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center by RSPD units.

 

Grabel was served with a Russell County warrant for Robbery, 2nd degree stemming from a June 2019 RSPD investigation into the Robbery of the BB&T bank in Russell Springs.

 

RSPD Det. Chasity Shirley is heading the investigation.

A LINCOLN COUNTY HOME BURNED TO THE GROUND EARLY THIS MORNING

 

A Lincoln County home is a total loss following an intense fire.


It started in the early morning hours Friday at a home on KY 643 in Waynesburg.


The home was a complete loss.


A family member says the victims will stay with some near-by relatives for now, but their personal belongings, clothes, furniture, were all consumed by the blaze.


The family's three small dogs have yet to be accounted for.


The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

 

45th ANNUAL CASEY COUNTY APPLE FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

 

The 45th annual Casey County Apple Festival is under way.

 

Organizers say there's a great line-up of food vendors, games, amusement rides, and music.

 

Today's schedule includes an Apple Pie Eating Contest, Greasy Pig Contest, Dog Show, & Pro Wrestling.

 

The Apple Festival Parade will start at 6pm, starting on Randolph Street to Middleburg Street, to the Courthouse Square, down Hustonville Street, to 127, and ending back at the starting point.

 

Several live bands will perform today, playing on two stages. Tonight's feature band is an AC/DC tribute band. 100% Angus will perform on Stage #1 starting at 9pm.

 

Tomorrow, the worlds largest apple pie will be served at Noon at the City Parking Lot, and the festival will end with a huge fire works show downtown.

LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING

 

The Liberty City Council met in special session Wednesday.

 

Char Hecht was re-appointed to the city's Housing Authority. Her new term will expire in September of 2023.

 

There will be more blacktopping operations coming soon. Mayor Steven Brown...

The Council voted to advertise for bids to blacktop on Adams and Hoskins Streets, as well as Wolford & Fair Streets.

 

Trick or Treat hours in the City of Liberty was set for 5-8pm on Oct. 31st.

 

Also on the agenda was Property Tax Rates for Liberty.  Councilman Richard Montgomery made a motion to accept the maximum 4% rate increase...

The motion died due to the lack of a Second. The Council voted to keep the compensating rate of 2.9%, unchanged from last year.

The next regular meeting of the Liberty City Council is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 14th.

 

LIBERTY MAN ARRESTED FOR TRYING TO STEAL AN ATV

 

A Casey County man arrested after allegedly trying to steal an ATV.

 

The Casey County Sheriff's Office received a report from Zandall Buck that 46 year old Keith Taylor removed the ignition switch from a Honda Rancher to get it started. Buck was able to stop Taylor from leaving with the 4-Wheeler, which was parked next to Buck's residence on Thomas Ridge Road.

 

Taylor was arrested the following day at his residence on Riffe Creek Road in Dunnville. He's charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking (over $500), & Criminal Mischief-3rd Degree.

 

Sherrif Chad Weddle was assisted by Deputy Shepard.

DRUG ARREST IN CASEY COUNTY

 

A suspect was tased while being taken into custody Tuesday.

 

Casey County Sheriff Chad Weddle tells us he spotted a suspect with an active warrant in a yard behind Bartle Heights.

 

33 year old Clinton D. Smith took off running, ignoring commands to stop. Sheriff Weddle deployed his taser and Smith fell to the ground, but continued to ignore commands to put his hands behind his back. Sheriff Weddle was able to get the cuffs on and later found an empty syringe in Smith's pants pocket.

 

Clinton Smith was taken to the Casey County Jail, and faces charges of Fleeing/Evading Police-2nd Degree (on foot), Resisting Arrest, & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

  • On Sept 25, Sheriff Chad Weddle and Chief Deputy Bryan Shepard arrested Daniel J. Smith, 51, of Russell Springs on a charge of theft by unlawful taking (under $500) in connection to a theft at Windsor Grocery. Smith was also charged with giving false identity and was served two Warren County bench warrants for failure to appear and contempt of court.
  • On Sept 25, Chief Deputy Bryan Shepard arrested Tami Campbell, 54, of Yosemite on an indictment warrant for charges of possession of a controlled substance 1st degree (meth), possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

US 127 REDUCED TO ONE LANE, TRAFFIC SIGNALS IN PLACE

 

U.S. 127 in Casey County has been reduced to one lane in three locations as crews perform bridge deck restorations.

 

Temporary traffic signals are in place on the north and south bound approaches for the lane closures in the following locations...

 

Mile point 5.7 – South Fork Creek Bridge

Mile point 9.7 – Calhoun Creek Bridge

Mile point 13.3 – Green River Bridge

 

In addition, lane widths are reduced to 12 feet at each location.

 

The lane closures will remain in place until work is completed on each structure with the last closure expected to be completed in approximately five weeks. The duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time in reaching their destination.

LINCOLN COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON DUI CHARGES IN CASEY COUNTY

 

A Lincoln County man arrested in Casey County on DUI charges.

 

Deputy Brown, with Casey County Sheriff's Department reports he was assisting KSP with a traffic stop on Bastin Creek, Saturday, about 10 miles East of Liberty.  A man and woman were placed under arrest with three kids in the vehicle.  Troopers called someone to come for the children. 

 

28 year old Kyle R. Garris, of Stanford, arrived in a 2002 Dodge Neon.  Officers noticed the smell of alcohol.  Garris blew a .222, which is over the .08 legal limit.  He was taken to the Casey County Hospital where he refused a blood test.

 

Garris was placed under arrest on charges of Driving Under the Influence.

CASEY COUNTY MAN ARRESTED AFTER THE CALL OF SHOTS FIRED

 

Casey County Sheriff’s Deputies respond to the call of shots fired during a domestic disturbance Sunday.

 

Deputy Tim Pierce responded to a residence at 3718 Chelf Ridge, five miles north of Liberty. Witness reported 28 year old Cannon Reece fired 3 rounds from a shot gun, following a physical altercation with another resident at that location. Three spent shells were retrieved from the front porch & yard.

 

Reece was lodged in the Casey County Jail on charges of Wanton Endangerment-2nd Degree.

 

No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.

 

TAYLOR COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES SATURDAY IN CASEY COUNTY

 

 

A Campbellsville man was arrested on drug charges over the weekend in Casey County.

 

Deputy Grider, with Casey County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the call around 8am Saturday, of a man passed out at the wheel of a 1998 Chevy Blazer, sitting in the roadway at the intersection of Gum Lick, & KY 1859, about ten miles west of Liberty. 56 year old Eulas R. Watson Jr., of Poplar Street, Campbellsville, was found alert in the driver seat, but reported to have blood shot eyes and slurred speech.

 

Watson told the Deputy he’d been sitting there in the middle of a curve since daylight. He failed a field sobriety test. Watson stated he had Percocet pills in his pocket. A search of the vehicle also resulted in the discovery of a baggie containing suspected Crystal Methamphetamine.

 

Eulas Watson Jr. was taken to Casey County Hospital for a blood test, then lodged in the Casey County Jail on charges of DUI, Possession of Methamphetamine-1st Degree, & Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (drug unspecified).

 

 

KSP: TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

 

On September 20th, 2019 at approximately 6:18 PM EST Trooper Jake Harper was on routine patrol on HWY 910 when he initiated a traffic stop on a 2017 Toyota Corolla for a traffic violation. Consent to search the vehicle was given resulting in Tpr. Harper locating a syringe containing  suspected methamphetamine.

 

The operator, 40 year old Tabatha Allen of Liberty, was arrested and charged with no registration receipt, no registration plates, no operators license, failure of non owner to maintain required insurance 1st offense, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Allen was lodged in the Casey County Detention Center.  

 

4 ARRESTED FOR STEALING HEMP

 

According to Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck, four men were arrested in separate incidents involving theft of hemp plants on Parkers Mill Road on September 22nd and 23rd, 2019.

 

At approximately 5:30 am on Sunday, September 22, 2019 Deputies Logan Starnes and Marcus Harrison responded to a 911 call of a property owner holding a burglary suspect at gunpoint on Parkers Mill Road.  Upon arrival at the scene, Deputies found the property owner, Mark Burnett detaining Matthew S. Bell, age 37 of Lewis Bray Road at gunpoint in a field on the property.

 

Investigation by the deputies resulted in the discovery of a set of bolt cutters and a trash bag full of recently cut hemp.

 

Mr. Bell was placed under arrest by Deputy Logan Starnes and charged with the following: 1. Burglary, 3rd Degree.  2. Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disp. All Others Under $500. 3. Possession of Burglary Tools.

 

In a related incident, on Sunday night at approximately 11:25 pm Deputies Starnes and Harrison returned to the property on Parkers Mill Road to a call of a burglary in progress.  Two subjects were located walking on Highway 914 near the property. Both individuals were covered in dirt and hemp residue. After a short investigation by deputies, Christopher S. Walker, age 45 of Chandler Street, Somerset, Kentucky and Christopher L. Decker, age 27 of Bloomfield Road, Taylorsville, Kentucky were arrested.  Both subjects were charged with: 1. Criminal Tresspassing-2nd Degree. 2. Criminal Mischief-2nd Degree. 3. Possession of Industrial Hemp.

 

Following the arrest of Mr. Decker and Mr. Walker, a search of the area between the property and Highway 914 resulted in the discovery of an individual who was hiding in the weeds.  Jimmy Cook, Jr., age 40 of Grundy Road, Somerset, Kentucky was taken into custody by Deputy Marcus Harrison and Trooper Adam Childers of the KSP. A large hunting knife and a small baggie of marijuana were recovered from Mr. Cook.  During the course of the arrest, Mr. Cook resisted officers and spat on the uniform of Sergeant Richard Smith.

 

Jimmy Cook, Jr. was charged with: 1. Possession of Marijuana.  2. Criminal Mischief-2nd Degree. 3. Criminal Tresspassing-2nd Degree.  4. Possession of Burglary Tools. 5. Assault 3rd-Pease Officer-Communicable Bodily Fluid.  6. Possession of Industrial Hemp. 7. Resisting Arrest. 

 

All subjects were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center without further incident.

 

PULASKI COUNTY TEEN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT

 

Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck reports that a Eubank, Kentucky teenager died as a result of injuries he sustained in a single vehicle accident on Friday night, September 20, 2019.

 

At approximately 10:50 pm Friday night, Sergeant Kyle Wilson and Deputy Logan Starnes responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle accident in the 4900 block of Highway 328 in Eubank, Kentucky.

 

Upon arrival at the scene, Deputies found a single vehicle involved in an accident.  Preliminary results from the accident investigation indicate that Christopher Guillen, age 17 of 5301 Highway 328, Eubank, Kentucky was west bound in a white 1997 Ford Pickup truck when he lost control and left the highway striking a tree.

 

Mr. Guillen was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pulaski County Chief Deputy Coroner Anthony Gossett.

 

The victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.  Alcohol was not a contributing factor in the cause of the accident.

 

The accident investigation continues by Sergeant Kyle Wilson of the Sheriff's Office.

 

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Somerset-Pulaski County EMS service, Rescue Squad and Eubank Fire Department.

CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT: SPECIAL MEETING

 

The Casey County Fiscal Court met in a special called session this afternoon.

 

The only item on the agenda was a revision to the Flex Fund Agreement.

The Court voted to authorize the signing of the revised agreement, which will be submitted to the State Transportation Cabinet for approval.

WASHINGTON COUNTY JUVENILE FACING CHARGES AFTER BRINGING A WEAPON ON A SCHOOL BUS

 

This morning at approximately 7:15 AM EST units from Kentucky State Police, Post 15 responded to the Washington County School district in reference to a student who had been found with a firearm in his possession on a school bus.

 

The bus driver was notified by other students on the bus after they observed a hand gun in the juvenile’s backpack. School staff was able to intercede before the child entered a school with the firearm.

 

The juvenile was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property and is being lodged in the Adair County Youth Development Center.

 

Tpr. Scott Curry is investigating. KSP was assisted by the Springfield Police Department.

DISTURBANCE AT A CASEY COUNTY GROCERY STORE LEADS TO METH BUST ON KY 49

 

 The Casey County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call Monday.

 

 The caller stated a female at Atwoods grocery on Highway 49 was standing in the road stripping off her clothes.

 

 Deputy Grider responded to the scene to find 40 year old Karen Turpin standing in the parking lot cursing and causing an alarm.

 

 Turpin exhibited signs of drug use and reportedly told the deputy she had "done a lot of meth that day."

 

 Deputy Grider transported Turpin to the Casey County Jail and reported that as she got out of his Cruiser, she turned in spit on him.

 

 Turpin is charged with Public Intoxication of a Controlled Substance, Disorderly Conduct-2nd Degree, and Assault 3rd Degree of a Police Officer.

 

BURN BAN ISSUED FOR CASEY COUNTY

 

 Casey County judge-executive Randy dial has issued an executive order open burning ban for all of Casey County.


 Effective immediately all open burning in all areas of Casey county is hereby banned until further notice.


 The statement says a lack of rain in recent weeks has produced dry conditions in area grasslands & woodlands, lawns and shrubbery, which poses an increased risk of damage from wildfires, caused by open burning.


 Again this ban is effective immediately and will be lifted after sufficient rainfall to abate the hazardous conditions.

CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT

 

The Casey County Fiscal Court met in regular session Monday.

 

Under General business judge-executive Randy Dial asked for authorization from the court to renew the agreement with Capstone for health insurance services. That motion was made and approved.

 

The court also voted to authorize judge-executive Randy dial to advertise for bids to engage an auditor for the annual audit.

 

Also under General business two amplifiers and an audio mixer were declared Surplus equipment for the AG Center.

 

Under Road business 50 tons of coal mix was declared Surplus and will be sold to Green County.

 

Under Jail business, the court has been considering a switch from the current food provider for the Jail, Brown's Food Service, to a Food Management company, which would not only provide the food, but prepare and serve it, at a lower cost. In addition, Kell Well would potential save the county wages paid by taking over the current food staff. Magistrate, Bart Woodrum, raised the issue of possible legalities concerning the County's contractual obligations...

County Attorney, Tommy Weddle...

After a lengthy discussion, the issue was tabled to allow Judge Dial to consult with Brown's Food Service. Pending that result, the court may have to wait until next year to request bids for that type of food service.

 

The Fiscal Court also voted to accept 3 tax district rates for filing purposes. Judge Dial...

 

Judge Dial also asked the court for authorization to join with other Kentucky Counties engaged in a law suit against Opiod producing companies...

The motion was approved pending analysis by the County Attorney.

PULASKI MAN DIES IN SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT

 

According to Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck, deputies responded to reports of
an automobile accident at 7:18 am Monday, September 16, 2019.


Sergeant Cary York and Deputy Kevin Bullock arrived on the scene of the single
vehicle accident 5.7 miles south of Somerset on Highway 769 to find a gold 2011
Cadillac STS on its top in a ravine several feet from the highway.


Preliminary investigation by Sergeant York revealed that the vehicle was
northbound when it crossed the centerline and left the roadway on the southbound
side of the highway.


The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, Terry Lee Raines, age 55 of 6276
Rush Branch Road was ejected from the vehicle. He was treated at the scene by
personnel from the Somerset-Pulaski County EMS Services and transported to
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

Mr. Raines succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Deputy Coroner Gerald Collingsworth.


Sheriff's units were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the Haynes Knob Fire Department.


The accident remains under investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.

SOMERSET MAN ARRESTED IN CASEY COUNTY IN CONNECTION TO A SHOOTING IN LETCHER CO.

 

 

The Casey County Sheriff's Office arrested a Somerset man Tuesday in connection to a shooting incident that happened last weekend in Eastern Ky.

 

Deputies Tim Pierce and Geoffrey Brown responded to a residence on Backwoods Way, in Liberty, after receiving information that a person wanted in connection to an attempted murder charge in Letcher County was staying at the residence. 

 

Deputies arrested 32 year old Orland Bolen. 

 

The Letcher County warrant alleges that on Saturday, Sept. 7th, Bolen, along with another man, Harold Bolen, shot Jonathan Pigman in the face with a handgun, causing serious physical injury.

 

Orland Bolen was also found to be in possession of a vehicle reported as stolen from Jack Rodger's Car Lot in Casey County. He was lodged in the Casey County Jail.

 

 

 

SOMERSET MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH HIT & RUN

 

Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck reports that a Somerset man faces several charges after being involved in a hit and run accident on Monday, September 9, 2019.

 

At approximately 9:25 pm Monday evening, Deputy Marcus Harrison responded to a 911 call of an overturned automobile in the middle of the road on East Frog Hollow Road in Science Hill, Kentucky.  Deputy Harrison arrived on scene and made contact with the driver of the SUV, Marlon E. Jones, age 35 of Somerset, Kentucky. After detecting the odor of alcohol on Mr. Jones' breath, Deputy Harrison detained the subject and conducted an investigation linking Mr. Jones to an earlier hit and run accident on Nelson Valley Road in Somerset.

 

Witnesses at the Nelson Valley location positively identified the vehicle that Jones was operating as the vehicle that had repeatedly rammed their vehicle in the rear and forced them off the road.

 

Information gained from the Deputy's investigation led to the arrest of Marlon E. Jones on the following charges:

1.  Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol .08 (Agg Circumstances) 1st offense

2.  Wanton endangerment-1st degree

3.  Reckless driving

4.  Leaving the scene of an accident-Failure to render aid or assistance

5.  Possession of open alcohol beverage container in a vehicle prohibited

6.  Assault, 2nd degree (Attempt)

7.  Failure to wear seatbelts

8.  Failure of owner to maintain required insurance, 1st degree

9.  Criminal mischief 3rd degree

 

Marlon E. Jones was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center without further incident.  Trooper Corey Jones of the KSP assisted at the scene.

BARDSTOWN WOMAN KILLED IN CASEY COUNTY CRASH

 

Trooper Jake Harper is investigating a collision that occurred September 8th, 2019 at approximately 6:52 AM EST, three miles north of Jacktown on KY 243. 

 

Ashley Coulter, age 33 of Bardstown, was operating a 2008 Nissan Altima northbound on KY 243 when she ran off the right shoulder of the roadway, overcorrected, and struck a tree. Coulter was not belted and was ejected from the vehicle.

 

Coulter was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Casey County Coroner.

 

Tpr. Harper was assisted at the scene by additional members of the Kentucky State Police, Casey County Sheriff’s department, Casey County Fire, EMS and Rescue. 

 

CASEY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES

 

Casey County Deputy Vance Davis arrested Jonathan Brown, 39, of Yosemite, Thursday, after receiving a call about an unresponsive male sitting in a truck on North Hatfield Road.

 

Brown was charged with DUI, trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin) with approximately 25.5 grams located, possession of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. He was also in possession of a handgun and $2,800 that were seized.

 

Brown was taken to the Casey County Jail.

CASEY COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD SETS TAX RATE

 

The Casey County Board of Education held a special called meeting Thursday to set the Tax Rate.

Here's Superintendent, Marion Sowders...

 

 

Mr. Sowders says, "The 4% tax increase will generate about $77,000 for the district. That money will be designated to implement Senate Bill-1 safe school legislation, which is another unfunded mandate by the state but our highest priority. Senate Bill one requirements will cost the district in excess of approximately $700,000 over the next 3 to 4 years to fully implement.

 

The Board meets in regular session Monday at 7pm at the Board Annex on North 127. 

 

The meeting is open to the public.

KSP POST 15 MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT

 

During the month of August 2019, there were 10 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

 

There were three fatal collisions during the month of August in the Post 15 area.

Joseph A. Curry, age 42 of Metcalfe Co KY was killed on 08/04/19 in Cumberland Co KY.

Susan J. Harper, age 41 of Metcalfe Co KY was killed on 08/04/19 in Cumberland Co KY.

Keith D. Jewell, age 44 of Green Co KY was killed on 08/23/19 in Taylor Co KY.

 

This brings our yearly fatality count to 15 compared with 17 through this same period in 2018.

Statewide fatality count stands at 493 compared with 473 through this same period in 2018.

 

During the month of August 2019, there were 490 citations written, 115 courtesy notices written, 329 complaints answered, 37 motorists assisted, 27 criminal cases opened and 205 criminal arrests made.

 

KSP INVESTIGATING DROWNING OF 15 MONTH OLD CHILD IN MARION COUNTY

 

On September 3rd, 2019, at approximately 11:00 AM EST, Kentucky State Police Post 15 responded to a residence on Helm Schoolhouse Road in Lebanon regarding a one year old child who had went missing from a residential daycare and was located in a nearby pond.

 

The victim, Lincoln Spalding, was transported to Spring View Hospital by EMS and pronounced deceased by the Marion County Coroner.  

 

Detective Kenny Brown is investigating along with Social Services Special Investigations Division and the Inspector Generals Office.

 

KSP POST 15 TO CONDUCT TRAFFIC SAFETY CHECKPOINTS

 

Kentucky State Police, Post 15 will be conducting safety traffic checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Casey, Russell, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton and Cumberland. 

 

Troopers will be checking for impaired drivers, children that are not properly restrained in child safety seats and informing the public about the use of seatbelts. 

 

These safety checkpoints will be conducted in various locations throughout the Post 15 area that are experiencing a high ratio of vehicular crashes resulting in injury and/or death compared to relatively low safety restraint usage ratio.

ARRESTS OVER THE LAST 24HRS

 

  • Casey County Sheriff C. Weddle, Chief Deputy B. Shepard, Deputy J. Grider, T. Pierce and R. Lynn along with K-9 Ronnie executed a search warrant at a residence on north 837. Arrested was 54 year old Gregory Wahl, of Kings Mountain, who was charged with trafficking in Methamphetamine, & Disorderly Conduct-2nd Degree.
  • Chief Deputy Bryan Shepard conducted a traffic stop on Ky 70 West. Sheriff Weddle, Deputy Grider and Liberty Police Chief Garrett along with K-9 Mako assisted. K-9 Mako alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle where approximately 2.8 grams of methamphetamine were found. Lloyd Jeff Mason, 48 of Liberty, was arrested and charged with speeding, no insurance and possession of methamphetamine.
  • Ricky N Simpson, 36 of Russell Springs, arrested by Deputy Geoffrey Brown with Casey County Sheriff’s Office for Driving on a DUI Suspended License, & No Registration Plates/Receipt, No Insurance.

GEORGIA MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES IN ADAIR COUNTY


Georgia man arrested on felony drug charges following traffic stop.

 
Around 1am, Monday, Adair County Sheriff K-9 Deputy Josh Durbin and KSP Trooper Alan Shirley initiated a traffic stop 4 miles north of Columbia on KY 61N. The stop was on a 2004 Chevrolet operated by 33-year-old Juan Mulderuado of Georgia. During the roadside investigation it was suspected that narcotics may be in the vehicle, so Deputy Durbin deployed his K-9 "Nitro". The K-9 indicated a positive hit for the odor of narcotics, and as a result methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located in the auto.
 
Juan Mulderuado was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and No Operators License.
 
The Adair County Sheriffs Office is continuing the investigation.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY

 

There's a Boil Water Advisory for Jamestown Water customers on South Hwy. 127 from the new Greasy Creek Bridge to Lake Cumberland State Park, including Wooldridge School Rd., Ballenger Rd., Clifty Creek Road, and all side roads off of State Park Road. 


The Advisory was issued Tuesday due to a main line leak. 


Boil all water used for drinking and cooking purposes for at least 3 minutes before using.

 

ADAIR COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO OVER 23 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX CRIMES

 

On Tuesday, August 27th, 2019,  Joshua David Gayde, age 36 of Columbia, appeared in Adair Circuit Court and was sentenced after entering  a guilty plea to nine charges involving sex crimes against a minor child that occurred between January 2014 and December 2017.  Gayde pled guilty to four counts of First-Degree Rape involving a child under 12 years old and five counts of First-Degree Sexual Abuse involving a child under 12 years old. 

 

Pursuant to the plea agreement Gayde will serve a total of 23 ½ years in the state penitentiary.   Upon his release from prison Gayde will be required to register as a lifetime sex offender on the Kentucky State Sex Offender Registry.

 

The investigation in this case was led by Kentucky State Police Detective Nick Davis.
