CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT

The Casey County Fiscal Court met in regular session Monday.

Under General Business, the Court voted to approve the Sheriff’s Advancement, as well as a motion to give Judge Executive Randy Dial the power to issue purchase orders up to $30,000.

A group of about 25-30 citizens attended yesterday’s meeting to thank the Court for passing a resolution in support of 2nd Amendment rights in our county.

2 magistrates voted against the resolution. One of those was Cecil Roy, who represents the 1st District. Roy explained his vote was due to the word “Sanctuary,” which as pointed out by County Attorney, Tommy Weddle, may have a negative connotation…

Judge Dial…

County Attorney, Tommy Weddle, expressed his support of the 2nd Amendment, but his one issue with the resolution was the word sanctuary…

One citizen explained the reasoning behind the strong local support for the right to bear arms…

With declaring Casey County as a Sanctuary County, there was some concern that it may affect State and Federal funding that benefits our local infrastructure.

Judge Executive Randy Dial ended the dialog with these final words…

The next regular meeting of the Casey County Fiscal Court is scheduled for Feb. 3rd.

STATE REP DANIEL ELLIOTT STATEMENT ON BOYLE & CASEY COUNTIES PASSING 2nd AMENDMENT ORDINANCE

FRANKFORT, Ky. (January 14, 2020) - State Representative Daniel Elliott, R-Danville, issued the following statement regarding Boyle and Casey Counties passing 2nd Amendment Ordinances.

“Our counties in the 54th District are joining a growing movement with several other local governments across the state to protect our constitutional rights,” Elliott said. “This is a failsafe measure to ensure the rights of the people of Casey and Boyle counties are not infringed upon by overbearing federal mandates and misguided legislative efforts in Kentucky. As someone who is endorsed by the National Rifle Association with an A rating, I praise both of these local governments through their fiscal courts for taking active measures in order to protect the will of the people.  It is imperative now more than ever that we reaffirm our God-given Second Amendment rights at every level of government.”

PULASKI MURDER SUSPECT TAKES OWN LIFE AS DEPUTIES CLOSE IN

According to Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck, a Eubank, Kentucky man took his own life when Law Enforcement Officers attempted to serve him with a Murder Warrant on January 8, 2020.

Bobby E. Eldridge, age 33 of Old Cuba Road was pronounced dead by Pulaski County Coroner Clyde Strunk at approximately 5 PM Wednesday afternoon from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Mr. Eldridge was being sought on a Pulaski County District Court Warrant for Murder-Domestic Violence for the murder of Donna Eldridge in October of 2019.

On October 27th, Deputies responded to 2330 Old Cuba Road in Eubank, Kentucky for a call of a medical emergency. Upon arrival at the residence, Deputies found Donna Eldridge deceased from a gunshot to the head. Bobby Eldridge was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The investigation into the death of Donna Eldridge by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff's Office determined that Donna Eldridge had been shot by her husband, Bobby Eldridge who then turned a gun on himself. He was treated and released from the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

As a result of the investigation, a Warrant for Murder was issued on the evening of January 7, 2020.

Sheriff Speck, along with Deputies from the Sheriff's Office, Somerset Police Officers, Troopers from the London Post of the KSP and members of the Kentucky State Police Special Response Team located Bobby Eldridge in a motel room near the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 80 on January, 8, 2020.

Several attempts were made to contact Bobby Eldridge without response from the suspect. Members of the KSP Special Response Team heard sounds from the motel room that caused them concern for the safety of individuals inside. The door was breached and electronic surveillance devices were deployed that detected that the suspect was suffering from a self inflicted gunshot. EMS personnel, who had been on standby near the scene, were immediately summoned to the room. Shortly thereafter, the Coroner's Office was notified.

Bobby Eldridge's body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The investigation continues by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office and the Pulaski County Coroner's Office.
