On Monday, Casey County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Bryan Shepard, Deputy Tim Pierce, and K9 Ronnie assisted Trooper Cornett during a traffic stop on KY 70. Garnett Glover, 39, and Amber Fowler, 33, both of Elk Horn were arrested.

Glover is charged with failure to signal, rear license not illuminated, DUI, possession of Methamphetamine-1st degree, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Fowler is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of Methamphetamine-1st degree, and drug paraphernalia.

They were lodged in the Casey County Jail.

CASEY COUNTY SHERIFF, CHAD WEDDLE, RESPONDED TO THE SCENE AROUND 2:30PM, ABOUT 16 MILES EAST OF LIBERTY ON KY 70.

 

ACCORDING TO THE ACCIDENT REPORT, 17 YEAR OLD SIERRA L. McANINCH, OF BURNSIDE, WAS DRIVING A 2009 CHEVY COBALT, TRAVELING NORTH ON KY 837 & ATTEMPTED TO CROSS KY 70. SHE FAILED TO SEE A 2004 FORD EXPLORER, OPERATED BY 84 YEAR OLD WINSFERD GADDIS, OF LIBERTY, WHO WAS TRAVELING ON KY 70. THE TWO VEHICLES COLLIDED, BOTH WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE.

 

BOTH DRIVERS WERE TRANSPORTED TO CASEY COUNTY HOSPITAL BY EMS.

AT LEAST ONE WAS TRANFERRED BY HELICOPTER TO UK HOSPITAL IN LEXINGTON FOR FURTHER TREATMENT.

INTERRUPTION IN GARBAGE COLLECTION IN LIBERTY

 

Garbage pick-up in the city of Liberty has been delayed due to mechanical malfuntion.

 

Mayor Steven Brown sent out a One-Call late Tuesday afternoon...

 

 

Just Monday, the Liberty City Council voted to reject the leading bid to privatize garbage collection in the city.

A Lincoln County man has been arrested for stealing hemp.

 

On Monday, Casey County Sheriff Chad Weddle charged Ralph T. Brock, 47, of Waynesburg with theft by unlawful taking under $500 in connection with the hemp theft on South Fork Creek. Jerry Salyers was a passenger in Brock's truck when Salyers took a hemp plant.

CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT

 

The Casey County Fiscal Court met in regular session last night.

 

Under general business, concerning staffing, the court voted to hire Larry Buis full-time at the Ag Center.

 

Under board appointments, Ronald Wright, and Taylor Rousey, we’re both reappointed to fill another term on the Hospital Board. The court also voted to appoint Dan Johnson to the Hospital Board to fill the open position left by the passing of his father Denny Johnson. 

 

Several people were appointed to the Airport Board including:  Steve Hill, Brian Wright, Jack Pruitt, Mark Woolford, Ricky Carman, Keith Carter, and Bill Hansford. 

 

The Court went into executive session for about 25 minutes with no action taken.

 

Under 911 business, Laken Allen was appointed as 911 Coordinator. County Judge Executive Randy Dial...

 

 

Those recommendations were all approved at a rate of $11.13 per hour.

GARBAGE COLLECTION REMAINS WITH THE CITY OF LIBERTY: CITY COUNCIL VOTES NOT TO PRIVATIZE

 

The Liberty city Council met in a special called session  Monday.

 

On the agenda was a police resolution. The Council voted to apply for a Homeland Security Grant of just over $6,400 for Tazers for the City Police Department.

 

Next was a property maintenance code concerning zoning in the city. That item was tabled for a later meeting.

 

The City Council has been debating for sometime whether or not to privatize garbage collection in the city limits. The bid of most interest by the council was submitted by Rumpke sanitation.  A concerned citizen addressed the Council...

 

 

Three representatives from Rumpke attended the meeting last night...

 

 

Further debate resulted in a tie vote among the city council members at 3 to 3. The tie was broken by mayor Steven Brown...

 

 

Garbage collection remains a service of the city of Liberty.

LINCOLN COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING AN ATV IN CASEY COUNTY

 

A Lincoln County man has been arrested in connection to an investigation of a stolen ATV in Casey County.

 

On Sunday, Casey County Sheriff’s Department’s Chief Deputy Bryan Shepard, along with Deputy Tim Pierce, and Deputy Geoffrey Brown, along with Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies Michael Mullins, and Griffin Harness, served an arrest warrant on 42 year old Michael L. Padgett in the Waynesburg area of Lincoln County.

 

Mr. Padgett was arrested for receiving stolen property over $10,000 in connection to a side by side theft that occurred in Casey County on November 1, 2019.

 

Padgett was lodged in the Casey County Jail.

LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL MEETING POSTPONED

 

The Liberty City Council has re-scheduled their regular monthly meeting from Monday, Nov. 11th, to Monday, Nov. 18th at 5pm, due to Veteran's Day activities.

The Casey County Sheriff's Office says you can now view property tax bills online.

 

Just find their facebook page, click the button at the top that says Use App. That link takes you to a website where you view the amount due, or to see if your bill has been paid.

 

The Sheriff's Office also has a night drop for after hours, or you can mail it in with a check, just make sure you also include your tax bill.

LIBERTY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES

 

A Liberty man was arrested on drug charges Friday.

 

Casey County Sheriff Chad Weddle says he was serving a Warrant on 18-year old Bradley B. Cox at a local business.

 

A subsequent search resulted in the discovery of 2 large bags of Marijuana, a bag of Crystal Methamphetamine, 97 new/empty baggies, digital scales, along with some pills. Further investigation led to the discovery of a Taurus 9mm handgun, 2 loaded magazines, a box of 9mm shells, and a large amount of cash.

 

Cox was lodged in the Casey County Jail on several charges, including drug possession & trafficking.

KSP LOOKING FOR MISSING MONROE COUNTY WOMAN

 

Kentucky State Police Post 15 in Columbia, KY is asking for the public's assistance in locating 21-year-old Katie Cawthorn of Fountain Run, KY.  


Katie is a 5' 1", 150 pound, white female with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen on October 1st, 2019 wearing black pants, a pink shirt and brown boots.

3 ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES IN PULASKI COUNTY

 

Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck reports that three individuals were arrested on drug related charges in separate incidents on Monday, November 4, 2019.

 

Deputies Zach Mayfield, Branson Patterson, and Trent Massey as well as Burnside Police Chief Mike Hill responded to a 911 call of two individuals passed out in an automobile at 100 Antioch Tower Road in Burnside, Kentucky.

 

Upon arrival at the scene at approximately 10 AM officers made contact with Rebecca Decker, age 37 of 2080 Highway 790, Bronston, Kentucky and William B. Bailey, age 34 of 195 North Riverwood Road, Bronston, Kentucky.

 

Both subject manifested characteristics of being under the influence of intoxicating substances.  Needles were found within plain sight of the officers inside the vehicle. Further search of the interior of the automobile resulted in the discovery of a small amount of white crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine.

 Both subjects were arrested and charged with the following:

 1. Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Off.  (Methamphetamine).

 2. Drug Paraphernalia-Buy/Possess

 3. Public Intoxication-Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol).

 

They were both lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center without incident.

 

Approximately two hours later, Deputies Zach Mayfield, David Wesley and Trent Massey responded to a 911 report of a possible overdose of an individual in an automobile at Mattress Overstock on South Highway 27.

 

Deputies made contact with Terry Ray Moore, age 43 of Shannon Drive, Science Hill, Kentucky.  The 911 Dispatch Center advised Deputy Mayfield that Mr. Moore had an active warrant for Failure to Appear in Pulaski District Court.

 

A pat-down search of Mr. Moore yielded a small container of crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine.

 

Mr. Moore failed a series of field sobriety test including an A-RIDE field sobriety conducted by Chief Mike Hill of the Burnside Police Department.  A-Ride is an acronym for Advanced Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere. (Advanced training for Law Enforcement Officers in the detection of impairment caused by drugs).

 

Terry Ray Moore was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention on the following charges:

1. Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Off (Methamphetamine).

2. Operating Motor Vehicle under Influence of Alcohol or Drugs (2nd Offense).

3. Failure to Appear (Pulaski District Court Warrant).

CASEY COUNTY MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO STOLEN ATV'S

 

Casey County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Deputy Bryan Shepard, Deputy Geoff Brown and Deputy Jonathan Black recovered a Ranger side by side and a Honda Rancher this weekend, both reported stolen from a residence on Calvary Ridge.

 

The Ranger was recovered on Phillipie Road, while the Rancher was recovered at a residence in Pulaski County.

 

Arrested was Christopher Shane Durham of Yosemite for theft by unlawful taking.

 

Assisting was Deputy Jayson Grider and Pulaski County Constable Gary Baldock.

 

Additional arrests are forthcoming.

 

The investigation is on-going by the Casey County Sheriff's Office.
