GARBAGE COLLECTION REMAINS WITH THE CITY OF LIBERTY: CITY COUNCIL VOTES NOT TO PRIVATIZE

 

The Liberty city Council met in a special called session  Monday.

 

On the agenda was a police resolution. The Council voted to apply for a Homeland Security Grant of just over $6,400 for Tazers for the City Police Department.

 

Next was a property maintenance code concerning zoning in the city. That item was tabled for a later meeting.

 

The City Council has been debating for sometime whether or not to privatize garbage collection in the city limits. The bid of most interest by the council was submitted by Rumpke sanitation.  A concerned citizen addressed the Council...

 

 

Three representatives from Rumpke attended the meeting last night...

 

 

Further debate resulted in a tie vote among the city council members at 3 to 3. The tie was broken by mayor Steven Brown...

 

 

Garbage collection remains a service of the city of Liberty.
