BOYLE COUNTY DRUG BUST

 

A Boyle County man arrested on drug charges this week.

 

On Monday, Boyle County Sheriff's Deputies Wren, Abbott and Cloud conducted a narcotics investigation on Fitzgerald Road in Junction City. 

 

A search warrant was executed. Deputies found methamphetamine, heroin, pills, numerous baggies, scales, drug paraphernalia, as well as a loaded handgun.

 

Jarod Douglas is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Trafficking in Methamphetamine-1st Degree/2nd Offense, Trafficking in Heroin, Trafficking Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, and Drug Paraphernalia. 

 

Douglas was lodged in the Boyle County Jail.

REMAINS FOUND IN PULASKI COUNTY IDENTIFIED AFTER MORE THAN TWO DECADES

 

Human remains found in Pulaski County have finally been identified after more than 20 years.

 

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says two hunters found the skeletal remains off Piney Grove Road, in Nancy, back in 1995.

 

Investigators with the Federal Bureau of Investigations notified Pulaski County authorities Friday, DNA samples submitted to the FBI’s CODIS system match that of an Allen County woman.  Christie York Witcher was reported missing to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office in July of 1993.

 

Investigations into Witcher’s disappearance and death are still ongoing by both the Allen County and Pulaski County Sheriff Departments.

 

BOYLE COUNTY NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION

 

On Saturday, Boyle County K9 Deputy Tanner Abbott conducted a narcotics investigation involving Samuel Keith Stallworth of Danville. During the investigation a search warrant was obtained for Stallworth’s residence at 725 Duncan Hill in Danville. 


Found inside the residence were digital scale, distribution bags, cocaine, heroin, gabapentin and $1800.00 cash. Stallworth was not home during the execution of the warrant and now has the following pending charges:

 

-Trafficking Heroin
-Possession Controlled Substance
-Trafficking Cocaine
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Prescription Not In Original Container
-Unlawful Transaction With Minor Under 16 Years Old

WEEKEND FIRE IN RUSSELL COUNTY

 

Jamestown FD responded to a sturcture fire Saturday.

 

Jamestown Fire Chief Jeff Landers says fire fighters responded shortly before 5pm Saturday to a location on Hwy 1680 South at Pleasant Hill. 

 

The structure was a lakehouse owned by Judy Johnson who reported that when she came home, she found heavy smoke in the residence. 

 

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. 

 

The fire apparently started in the crawlspace under the main floor around the flu. 

 

The home sustained light damage to the floor around the flu and smoke damage throughout the residence.

 

No injuries were reported.

 

Personnel were on the scene for approx. 3 hours.

  • Casey County Deputy Geoffrey Brown arrested Bradley T. Cummins, 37, of Danville, on a Lincoln County warrant for failure to appear. Cummins was also charged with reckless driving, no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, failure to produce insurance card, operating on suspended or revoked operator license, DUI, and possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle.
  • James M Morgan age 40 of Hustonville, arrested by Deputy Grider with Casey County sheriffs office for nonpayment of court cost fees or fines, public intoxication of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct second- degree, and assault 4th degree domestic violence.

NEW CEO AT RUSSELL COUNTY HOSPITAL

 

The Russell County Hospital has a new CEO.

 

Patrick J. Branco was named Chief Executive Officer at a Hospital Board meeting last night, by unanimous Board approval.

 

Branco is a Texas native with over 40 years experience in healthcare, more than half of the time as a CEO.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY FOR ROUSE BRANCH IN CASEY COUNTY

 

East Casey Water has issued a BOIL WATER ADVISORY for customers on Rouse Branch.

 

Consumers in that area should boil any water used for human consumption, bringing it to a rolling boil for at least 3 minutes, and boil water for short-term use only.

 

This advisory remains in effect until futher notice.

ANOTHER ARREST IN RUSSELL COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE "OPERATION CHRISTMAS JEER"

 

Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston reports that another Drug Trafficker,from Operation Christmas Jeer, that was on the run in Jamestown, was arrested yesterday evening. 

 

38 year old Ryan Butrum was found hiding under a house on Pinehurst Circle. 

 

He is charged with Trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense Methamphetamine, & also for being a Persistent Felony Offender 1st degree. 

 

Butrum was lodged in the Russell County Jail.

 

The investigation is on-going by Deputy Kenny Perkins, and more arrest from The December operation are forthcoming.

HAY NEEDED FOR STARVING HORSES IN BOYLE COUNTY

 

Boyle County Animal Control is now caring for 15 neglected horses, and they need help. 


If anyone can donate hay, preferably alfalfa due to the malnourished condition of these poor creatures, it would be most helpful.

6 ARRESTED IN RUSSELL COUNTY THEFT INVESTIGATION

 

Russell County Sheriff's Deputies responded Tuesday, to Old Columbia Road to assist Russell Springs Police Officer Matt Parrish in a Theft Investigation. 

 

The homeowner had confronted and held one of the suspects until officers arrived. The investigation continued into the County off Old Columbia Road. Where 6 suspects were arrested. 

 

3 were charged with Receiving stolen property under $10,000.00, those were Jack Lusk, Byron Marcum, & Alex Oaks. 

 

Also taken into custody were Nathan Irvin, 28 of Russell Springs. He was served with 3 outstanding warrants. 32 year old Stephanie Bennett was served with a outstanding warrant, and additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 1st degree, & Possession of a controlled substance. Casey Fowler age 22 of Louisville, was also served with a outstanding warrant. 

 

Alex Oaks was also additionally charged by the Sheriffs office for possession of a controlled substance pills. 

 

All 6 individuals were lodged in the Russell County Jail. 

 

The investigation is on-going.

 

Assisting at the scene were Deputy Nathan Ginn, Chief Deputy Jerry Melton, & Sheriff Derek Polston of the Russell County Sheriffs office.

CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT

 

The Casey County Fiscal Court met regular session Monday.

 

Under general business, the court approved a budget amendment to cover replacement of the boiler at the county jail, along with the Sheriffs Cruiser Grant, and some other miscellaneous financials.

The court also approved the conservation district budget for fiscal year 2021.

 

Under Road business the court had advertised for project bids for four bridge projects, including box culvert projects for Southfork Creek, Blue Bank Road, and Willow Springs Road, and a bridge replacement project for Joe Patterson Road.

Under 911 business Judge Dial recommended recent hire Margaret Brown to be moved from part-time status to full-time. That motion was approved.

 

The county has received the new CPI rate from the state it just over 2%. Judge Randy Dial recommended a cost-of-living raise for county employees of 2%. That motion was approved.

 

Tracy Gossage, and Kevin Atwood were appointed to the Water Board...

 

 

County Attorney Tommy Weddle asked about filling a vacancy on the ethics board, to fill the seat vacated by Denny Johnson. No action was taken.

 

Judge Dial advised the magistrates there may need to be a special called meeting of the fiscal court to hear a second reading of the budget amendment.

TAYLOR COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES IN CASEY COUNTY

 

On Friday, Casey County Deputies Vance Davis and Geoffrey Brown, Liberty Police Officer Tyler Martin, and Constable Ralph Mondie arrested Cory Graham, 30, of Campbellsville, on charges of DUI-3rd offense, trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree (meth), drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substance.

 

Graham was also arrested on a Hardin County warrant.

TAYLOR COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD SEX CHARGES

 

On February 13, 2020, at approximately 4:32 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Benjamin A. Sallee, 27, on charges related to unlawful distribution and possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

 

Sallee was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.

 

The investigation resulted in a search warrant at a residence in Campbellsville on February 13, 2020. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

 

Sallee is currently charged with ten counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance and five counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance.  These charges are Class-D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison. 

 

Sallee was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.

 

BOYLE COUNTY DRUG BUST

 

A Harrodsburg man was arrested on drug charges early Friday.

 

Boyle County Sheriff's Deputies Wren, Cloud, and Abbott, conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 127 Bypass at Stewart's Lane. While talking to the driver, deputies observed marijuana in plain view. A search of the vehicle located around an ounce of methamphetamine, which was hidden in a Red Bull container, along with numerous empty baggies, scales, marijuana, pills, and other drug paraphernalia.

 

51 year old Earnest Slaven, of Harrodsburg, is charged with Trafficking In A Controlled Substance 1st Degree - 2nd Offense - Greater Than 2 grams, Trafficking Marijuana Less Than 8 ounces, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, and Careless Driving.

 

Slaven was lodged into the Boyle County Jail.

2 INJURED IN A 2 VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN CASEY COUNTY TODAY

 

Deputy Jayson Grider, with Casey County Sheriff's Department, responded to a two vehicle accident that occurred today at approximately 11:30 am on N US 127.

 

Both occupants of the car were transported by ambulance to Casey County Hospital. The passenger was then flown to UK for further assessment. The extent of injury is unknown at this time.

CENTURY OLD CASEY COUNTY BOOK RECOVERED FROM LOUISVILLE DUMP

 

A book that once belonged to a Casey County resident, nearly a Century ago, has been recovered from a garbage dump.

 

The book was sent to the Casey County Sheriffs Office this week from Louisville where it was found in a landfill 20 years ago inside a purse. 

 

Inside the front cover, the book says it belonged to Anna Francine Allen Caroline Banks Barger of Liberty, and is dated July 6, 1926.

A Casey County teen, reported missing late yesterday has been found safe.

 

The boy went missing yesterday evening in the Caney Fork area, near KY 1547.

 

Family members of the 13 year posted on social media with pictures and urgent requests for assistance in locating him. 

 

He was found safe last night and returned home.

 

His family expressed their gratitude for the public's prayers & assistance.

LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL MEETING REPORT

 

The Liberty City Council met in regular session Monday.

 

First on the agenda was a Resolution regarding Municipal Road Aid for the Fiscal Year, beginning July 1st, in the amount of nearly $45,000.

That motion passed.

 

Another Resolution on last night's agenda concerned the mapping of City Streets.  Neal Cundiff is with the Lake Cumberland Area Development District...

 

 

The Resolution was tabled until next month's meeting to review some of the Streets.

 

The Council also had a 1st reading of an Ordianance, creating a Code Enforcement Board. There will be a 2nd reading at next month's Council meeting.

 

Good news for the Liberty Police Department. The City has received a Homeland Security Grant to equip every Police Officer with the latest Tazer at virtually no cost to the city.

RUSSELL COUNTY AUTHORITIES LOOKING FOR MISSING TEENS

 

Jamestown Police are asking for your help in locating two missing juveniles. 


Missing is 17-year-old Alexis Shaneese Warren of Russell County. Alexis is described as a black female, 5’9” in height, 162 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.


Alexis was last seen Friday February 7, 2020 as she ran from 59 Coffey Avenue in Jamestown. She was last seen wearing camo leggings, black boots, spaghetti strap top, grey loose jacket with a rooster logo on the side.


Also missing is 16-year-old Austin Passmore of Russell County. Austin Passmore is described as a white male, 5’7” in height, 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.


Austin Passmore was last seen Friday February 7, 2020 as he ran from The Department of Social Services office in Jamestown. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans with holes in them, and black Nike shoes.

FIRE DAMAGES KYTC DIST 8 BUILDING IN CASEY COUNTY FRIDAY

 

Liberty Vol. Fire Department responded to the call of a structure fire shortly after 5pm Friday at the Ky Dept. of Highways/Casey Co. Highway Maintenance building at 1090 S. Wallace Wilkinson Blvd.

 

On the scene, fire personnel found a working structure fire with heavy smoke from all sides of the building. Fire fighters gained access thru the front doors and encountered heavy black smoke, fire and high heat conditions.

 

They were able to enter the structure and get the blaze under control and eventually extinguished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

 

4 Engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 EMS unit and Chief’s vehicle along 38 Emergency personnel were on scene to assist in various ways.

CASEY COUNTY DRUG ARREST

 

On Friday, Casey County Sheriff Chad Weddle arrested David Lynn, 24, and Joseph Lynn, 52, both of Liberty, after receiving a call of a domestic dispute on Strong Branch.

 

David Lynn was arrested at a residence on Poplar Springs on charges of assault 4th degree no visible injury and assault 4th degree minor injury due to injuries caused to his brother and grandmother. Lynn is also charged with trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree (meth) after Sheriff Weddle found three bags of meth and $90 in his pockets and backpack. A fourth bag with what Lynn said was baking soda will be sent to the lab for testing.

 

Joseph Lynn was arrested at the residence on a charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place.

LARUE CO TEEN ARRESTED FOLLOWING 2 VEHICLE CRASH IN RUSSELL CO

 

Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston reports that around 9 a.m. Thursday morning, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 80 in the Royville community.
 

18 year old Brooklyn Beard of Magnolia was operating a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. She rear-ended a 2002 Ford van, driven by Russell Antle of Russell Springs as he was waiting to turn into his residence.
 

Rain-slick road conditions played a factor in the accident.
 

Brooklyn Beard was arrested on the scene by Sheriff Polston for driving on a suspended license and no insurance. She was also served with an outstanding warrant and lodged in the Russell County Jail.

CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT

 

The Casey County Fiscal Court met in regular session Monday.

 

County Judge Executive, Randy Dial, took a moment to remind everyone of the current Census and it’s importance to our community…

 

 

Under Road Business, Judge Dial presented the State’s recommendations of Rural Secondary Road projects…

 

 

That motion passed.

 

Judge Dial also requested authority to sign the annual Road Aid Agreement…

 

 

That motion passed.

 

Also under Road Business, the Court voted to advertise for Bridge project Bids…

 

 

That motion also passed.

 

The court voted to finance a Boiler at the Jail that failed and was replaced last week. The old boiler was declared surplus for scrap.

 

The Court also voted to renew the Inter-Local Agreement with the City of Liberty that will expire Dec. 31st, 2022.

 

Sheriff Chad Weddle gave his Department’s Monthly Activity Report for the month of January…

 

 

The next regular meeting of the Casey County Fiscal Court will be Feb. 17th.

 

BOIL WATER ADVISORY FOR A PORTION OF LIBERTY

 

The Liberty Water Treatment Plant has issued a Boil Water Advisory.

 

Here's the One-Call from Mayor Steven Brown...

 

 

The advisory is due to a line break on East Kentucky 70.

 

Again customers affected are from New Dry Ridge Rd., East To 1499 E. Kentucky 70, and all side roads. 

 

Customers in those areas should boil any water used for human consumption, bringing to a rolling boil for at least 3 minutes, and boil water for short term use only.

 

This advisory will be in effect until further notice.

CASEY COUNTY SCHOOLS CLOSED DUE TO ILLNESS

 

Casey County Schools are closed today and Tuesday due to sickness.
