Liberty Vol. Fire Department responded to the call of a structure fire shortly after 5pm Friday at the Ky Dept. of Highways/Casey Co. Highway Maintenance building at 1090 S. Wallace Wilkinson Blvd.

On the scene, fire personnel found a working structure fire with heavy smoke from all sides of the building. Fire fighters gained access thru the front doors and encountered heavy black smoke, fire and high heat conditions.

They were able to enter the structure and get the blaze under control and eventually extinguished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

4 Engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 EMS unit and Chief’s vehicle along 38 Emergency personnel were on scene to assist in various ways.

Brush Creek FD, Clementsville FD, East Casey FD, Evona FD, Poplar Springs FD, South East Casey FD, Liberty-Casey Co. Rescue, Casey Co. EMS, Casey Emergency Management, Casey Co S.O., Liberty PD, Liberty Utilities, Ky Dept. of Highways employees, and Kentucky Utilities.

Several Dumptrucks and a backhoe sustained heavy damage.
