LCSO: 911 CALL LEADS TO CONFISCATED GUNS & DRUGS

 

A 9-1-1 call of a possible drug overdose leads to the discovery of illegal drugs & guns in Lincoln County.

 

Bluegrass 911 received the call late Monday night, reporting a juvenile had consumed drugs and was experiencing an adverse reaction.

 

Lincoln County EMS and Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene.

 

A search warrant was executed at an out building on Ky 501. Deputies located several guns, one that was reported stolen from Richmond PD. Also located was about an ounce of suspected crystal methamphetamine, digital scales, baggies, and glass smoking pipes. 

 

Charges are pending as the suspect was not located. 

 

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says that investigation into drug trafficking has been ongoing for the last 8 months.

 

CASEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT REPORT

 

The Casey County fiscal Court met in regular session Monday.

 

The magistrates approved an amendment to the cleaning contract for the Judicial Center which will now include disinfecting the facility to further protect against Covid. The building will be disinfected weekly at an added rate of $150 per week, which will be reimbursed to the County.

 

Under 911 business, Judge Executive Randy Dial addressed the magistrates concerning E-Dispatch and One Call…

 

Judge Dial also mentioned that flood repairs are underway at the Ag Center… 

 

The next regular meeting of the Casey County Fiscal Court is scheduled for Monday, March 7th.

EUBANK WATER HAS ISSUED A BOIL WATER ADVISORY

 

A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for customers of Eubank Water System on KY 501, starting at Hwy 1247 south, to KY 70, Hwy 837 and side roads. 

 

The advisory has been issued due to: Line Break  

 

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER POSSIBLE TODAY

 

Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the region today and tonight.

 

Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts is expected. This may result in flooding in low-lying areas and near small streams and creeks. A few strong to severe storms are possible by late morning and will continue into the afternoon hours across the area. Damaging winds are the main severe weather hazards, though an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.

 

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.

 

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

 

KSP INVESTIGATE SHOOTING IN ROCKCASTLE COUNTY

 

The Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London is investigating a shooting incident that took place on Three Oaks Road in Rockcastle County at approximately 8:45 PM on Saturday February 19, 2022.

 

The preliminary investigation reveals that Rockcastle County 911 was notified of a neighbor dispute complaint involving Donnie R. Lamb, 57, of Mt. Vernon and his neighbor George W. Davis, 74, of Mt. Vernon. During the investigation, it was determined Donnie Lamb, shot his neighbor Davis once in the chest. Davis was taken by Rockcastle EMS to a landing zone in the Round Stone area of Rockcastle County before being flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with non-life threating injuries.

 

Donnie Lamb was arrested and charged with Assault 1st. He was taken to the Rockcastle County Jail.

 

The investigation is continuing by Post 11 Trooper Cory Jones. He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 personnel, Rockcastle Sherriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Police Department, Brodhead Police Department, Livingston Police Department, Rockcastle EMS and PHI.

CASEY CO. BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING REPORT

 

The Casey County Board of Education met in regular session last night.


The meeting ended with a resignation.

LIBERTY CITY COUNCIL GETS AUDIT REPORT, REVISITS POSSIBLE OCCUPATIONAL TAX

 

The Liberty City Council met in regular session Monday.

 

Kevin Fisher, a representative from RFH CPA consultants, addressed the council with an audit presentation for fiscal year 2021.

Fisher stated it was a clean report as last year...

 

Councilman Richard Montgomery posed a question to the City Attorney concerning the procedure of a possible occupational tax, also about possibly extending the city limits...

 

Mayor Brown stated he would be in contact with a CPA consultant to address the council concerning the options of a possible occupational tax, and perhaps setting up a workshop meeting to discuss it further. No action was taken.

 

Councilman Richard Montgomery also asked for clarification about possible findings of the Corps of Engineers concerning flooding in the city, and that any possible actions would require 30% matching funds from the city. Mayor Steven Brown confirmed the 30% match.

 

The next regular meeting of the Liberty City Council is scheduled for March 14th.

 

LCSO: TIP LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF ILLEGAL DRUGS

 

A tip on a stolen motorcycle in Lincoln County leads to the discovery of illegal drugs.


Around 11pm Wednesday night, Deputy Kyle Peters and Sergeant Michael Mullins, with Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, received a tip on the location of a stolen motorcycle. 


This tip led them to a residence on McMullen Road.


The Deputies made contact with the owner and through further investigation, located suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia consistent with the use of methamphetamine. 


The stolen motorcycle was not located, however, the investigation is on-going and authorities say arrests are pending.

 

CASEY WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DUI FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT

 

Driver arrested following a single vehicle accident Monday.


Deputy Jayson Grider, with Casey Co. Sheriff's Office, arrested 58 year old Melissa G. Willoughby, of Kings Mountain. 


She was charged with careless driving, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, after she lost control and crashed her vehicle on E KY 70.


Ms. Willoughby was booked into the Casey Co. Jail.

 

CASEY MAN CHARGED WITH DUI FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP

 

A Liberty man was arrested on DUI charges, following a traffic stop Wednesday.


Casey County Sheriff Chad Weddle observed the driver of a 2022 Suzuki Grand Vitara run a stop sign about eight miles West of Liberty at the junction of N. Hatfield Road, and KY 206. The vehicle then crossed the center-line on 206. 


Sheriff Weddle initiated the traffic stop and noted the driver had slurred speech. 


47 year old Gary D. Rodgers, failed field sobriety tests, and admitted using Methamphetamine, two days prior.


Mr. Rodgers was charged with DUI-controlled Substance, and Disregarding a Stop Sign.


He was lodged in the Casey Co. Jail.

 

FATAL CRASH IN CASEY COUNTY LAST WEEKEND

 

Kentucky State Police have released their official report on a fatal crash that took the life of a Liberty man last weekend.

 

Troopers responded to the call around 8:30pm Saturday on KY 70 in Casey County.  

 

Preliminary investigations indicate that 30 year old Joshua Wilson, of Liberty, was driving a 2002 Chevy Tracker when he dropped off the roadway, lost control, and struck a tree. 

 

Wilson succumbed to injuries sustained in this collision and was pronounced deceased by the Casey County Coroner.  

 

This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Matthew Spears. 

 

KSP POST 15 MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT FOR JANUARY 2022

 

Columbia, KY (January 5, 2022) During the month of January 2022, there were 16 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

 

There were two fatal collisions during the month of January in the Post 15 area.
Mary Miller age 81 of Taylor County KY was killed on 01/13/2022 in Taylor Co KY.
Meredith Spear age 32 of Metcalfe County KY was killed on 01/24/2022 in Metcalfe Co KY.

 

This brings our yearly fatality count to 3 compared with 3 through this same period in 2021.

 

Statewide fatality count stands at 39 compared with 50 through this same period in 2021.

 

During the month of January 2022, there were 1286 citations written, 272 courtesy notices written, 409 complaints answered, 184 motorists assisted, 51 criminal cases opened and 274 criminal arrests made.

 

CLINTON CO. WOMAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES IN RUSSELL COUNTY

 

Russell Springs Police arrest a Clinton County woman on drug charges.


Chief Tim Pierce reports, on Saturday, Officer Debra Necessary responded to a call of a fight in progress at a residence on Milton Heights. 


Upon arrival, 29 year old Rosanell Hill, of Albany, was found to be in possession of a bag of suspected Methamphetamine, along with a loaded firearm.


Ms. Hill was charged with Possession of Meth-1st Degree (Firearm Enhanced), and lodged in the Russell County Detention Jail.

LOUISVILLE MAN ARRESTED IN PULASKI COUNTY

 

A Jefferson County man is facing drug charges in Pulaski County.


Sheriff Greg Speck reports that just after 2am Wednesday, Deputy Tan Hudson arrested 39 year old Michael Heath, of Louisville.


Deputy Hudson saw a 2019 Kia Optima pulling from Dry Branch Road commit a traffic infraction at the stop sign with KY 1247.  He stopped the car for erratic driving & noticed that the driver appeared to be under the influence.  Deputy Hudson also noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.  When the driver stepped out, Deputy Hudson was able to locate a small amount of marijuana in the car and on Mr. Heath.  


After the arrest, Deputy Hudson located suspected methamphetamine, suspected heroin, and suspected marijuana in the center console.  


Mr. Heath was arrested numerous drug & traffic charges and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Jail.

 

 

CCHS WILL OPEN FOR COMMUNITY SHELTER IF NEEDED

 

With the forecasted ice storm that could impact our community, Superintendent Barry Lee says Casey Schools will be available for emergency shelter as needed.   

If anyone is without power and needs a warm place, our central emergency shelter will be the Casey County High School gym. 

If the high school does not have power, our backup location will be Walnut Hill Elementary and/or Jones Park Elementary. 

You are asked to bring your own blankets and supplies.     

The high school does have shower facilities if this were to be a long term event.   

CASEY CO. DISTRICT COURT: CANCELLED 2/3/2022

 

Casey County District Court has been cancelled for Thursday February 3rd, 2022 due to impending weather.  

If you have a court date scheduled for that day, it will be moved to Tuesday February 8th, 2022.  

If you were scheduled for 9 am, it will be heard at 9 am on the new date.
