David Jean Pryor, 79, Lawrenceburg, KY

 
David Jean Pryor, 79, of Lawrenceburg, KY passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Lexington VA Medical Center. He was born on February 24, 1947 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, a son of the late R. Louis and Delores Neiswender Pryor. 
 
David was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era, proudly serving his country for 12 years. He was a very intelligent man, who worked various jobs throughout his life as an electrical controls engineer. David enjoyed watching UK sports, especially basketball. He had a very strong faith and was a believer in Jesus. David was a wonderful family man: husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He always instilled in his family to do the right thing and be there for each other. He will be deeply missed by all the lives he touched.

His wife: Mary Sue Cheek Pryor of Lawrenceburg
3 children: Leland Pryor, Robert (Colleen) Pryor, and Tiffany (Donavan) Wilson
Stepson: Keith Grubbs
8 grandchildren: Steven (Ashley) Pryor, Cory Pryor, Robert (Tabby) Pryor, Connor Pryor, Xander Pryor, Ashley Pryor, Brittany (Dustin) Griffith, and Sevrynn Frye
Granddaughter-in-law: Miranda Frye
9 great-grandchildren: Bennett Pryor, Amelia Pryor, Oliver Pryor, Travis Pryor, Jadys Burton, Raelynn Wilson, Adilynn Pryor, Bo Flowers, and Archer Flowers
2 siblings: Glenn (Debbie) Pryor and Mark (Diane) Pryor
Sister-in-law: Loretta Pryor
 
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Bennett Pryor; his granddaughter, Teeira Butler; his grandson, Joseph Frye; and his nephew, Mathew Pryor.
 
Graveside Service: Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 1:00pmCT at Bernard Ridge Cemetery with Bro. Paul Hart officiating
 
Inurnment: Bernard Ridge Cemetery with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard
