Fonniel Davenport, of Liberty, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was 85.

Born on May 21, 1940, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Lucy Copley Sallee. Fonniel loved gardening, flowers and animals, especially her dogs and her cats.  

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Phelps of Liberty; a son, James Davenport of Liberty; a sister, Betty Harris of Indiana; and “her girls,” Waynetta and Leanne.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her husband, Earl Davenport, who passed away on March 8, 2010.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at South Fork Cemetery with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Davenport, Timmy Davenport, Chad Davenport, Matthew Davenport, Herbie Davis and Dexter Godbey. Honorary pallbearers will be Nelda Davenport and Roger Coffey.
