Leon McQueary, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Casey County Hospital in Liberty.
Born January 7, 1955, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Lee Ottis McQueary, Sr. and Nettie Knight McQueary. Leon was a self-employed gate hauler for over 40 years. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, being outdoors, and traveling – especially to the Smoky Mountains.
Survivors include his dear wife, who he wed on May 3, 1975, Pamela Stephens McQueary; son, Greg (Amanda) McQueary of Liberty; grandson, Spencer Clark; sisters, Wanda Wilham of Danville and Joann Rodgers of Liberty; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Junior, Farley, Marvin, Paul, James, and Clifton “Buddy” McQueary; sisters, Irene Peavley, Sherri Eads, and Mary Mills; half-brother, Jack McQueary; and half-sister, Emmie Belle Harris.
Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Sunday, April 26, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will follow in the Contown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00AM Sunday until time of services at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Greg, Michael, Aiden, and Darrell McQueary, Jeff Wethington, and Victor Luttrell.
