MARTHA TARTER

 

Martha Tarter, of Liberty, formerly of Junction City, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset.  She was 87.

 

She was born on June 22, 1938, in Pineville, KY to the late Charles and Alene Ailey Hoskins.  Martha was a substitute teacher in her early life and was a homemaker.  She was very active in the Boyle and Casey County Homemaker Clubs and the Boyle County Senior Citizens group. Martha was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo and was an avid UK basketball fan . She loved playing piano at home and enjoyed spending time getting her nails polished with her granddaughter. Martha was a longtime member of Junction City Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

 

She is survived by her sons, Keith (and Kenwyn) Tarter of Danville, Robert (and Stephanie) Tarter of West Virginia, Jeff (and Regina) Tarter of Harrodsburg and Gary (and Yvonne) Tarter of New York; her sister, Charlotte Bond of Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Bobby, Jonathan, Benjamin, Hannah, Courtney and Zack; and four great-grandchildren, Leo, Kai, Ryker and Leon.

 

In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernarr Tarter, whom she wed on December 24, 1960; and her granddaughter, Samantha.

 

Funeral services will be at 12:00PM Monday, December 22, 2025, at Junction City Baptist Church with Bro. Choe Sergent officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Liberty, KY.

 

Pallbearers will be Keith Tarter, Robert Tarter, Jeff Tarter, Gary Tarter, Zack Tarter and Scott Statham.

 

Family will receive visitors from 11:00AM to 12:00PM Monday, December 22, 2025, at the church.
