JOHN PEAVEY

 

John Phillips Peavey, age 70, of, Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday November 21st, 2025, at the Jean Waddle Care Center. He was born February 14th, 1955, in Danville, KY, a son of the late James Evan and Neoma “Snooks” Phillips Peavey.

 

John was a Casey County man most of his 70 years. His rural upbringing by parents who provided a stable life with family values that included helping with chores, a tight relationship with family and friends, education and a faith which he relied on throughout his life. Friends spoke of John with respect and brotherly love. He was embraced by his family's love and warmth. Above all John centered his life around God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. He served as a Sunday School teacher for youth and adults, a Deacon, and usher. His words were measured and based upon truth and wisdom. In his "spare" time he raised tobacco, raised a yearly garden, and kept this farm running. He spent time with family and, as the children and grandchildren came along became a very important part of their lives. Firm, gentle, steady and loving, that was John Peavey.

 

John was a former employee of Denyo Manufacturing, and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

 

Survivors include: his loving spouse: Jennifer Ann Peavey, two sons: Micah E. Peavey of Liberty and Jeff Ewalt (Katy) of Ft. Mill S.C., one daughter: Kimberly Hudson (Jeremy) of Shepherdsville, KY, one daughter-in-law: Erin G. Peavey, eleven grandchildren: Robert Peavey Jr. (Andy), Katelyn Peavey  (Ethan Rayborn), James Peavey, Kylie Peavey, Chloe Brown, Sam Shearer, Isabel Shearer, Amelia Ewalt, William Ewalt, Lillian Ewalt and Hannah Hudson, four great grandchildren, one brother: Glenn Evan (Kristy) Peavey of Louisville, and one sister: Melanie Ann Williams of Liberty.

 

Preceding him in death besides his parents was one son: Robert Peavey and one brother-in-law: Chuck Williams.

Cremation rites were honored by Bartle Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
