Dorothy Rodgers of Liberty passed away on September 17th, 2025, at her home surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and sister-in-law. She was 80 years young.
Born on November 12th, 1944, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Abner and Allie (Rodgers) Johnson. Dorothy was a homemaker and previously worked at Liberty Sportswear and OshKosh B’Gosh. She attended walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church in Liberty. She was a devout Christian and was firmly rooted in her Christian beliefs. Her life reflected a desire to obey God’s commandments, show genuine love for others and a desire to continue to grow in her relationship with God through prayer and studying God’s word. She loved camping, gardening and singing gospel music.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Rodgers whom she wed on November 14th, 1977. She is also survived by two daughters Carmela (Steve) Clark and Kimberly (Jerome) Salyers both of Liberty; two sons Adam Earles (Tina Rogers) of Russell Springs and Nathan Rodgers (Jennifer Smith) of Nicholasville; six grandchildren Andrew (Taylor) Clark of Somerset, Chelsea Shannon of Danville, Allison Clark of Nicholasville, Brianna Earles of Liberty and Alyssa and Avery Clem of Nicholasville; and four great grandchildren, two sisters Louise Marcum and Elva (Junior) McFarland, and sisters-in-law Kathy Johnson, Kelley Johnson and Mary Johnson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters Vergie Hatfield and Retha McGuire, six brothers Kermit “Gene” Johnson, Manuel Johnson, Shellie Johnson, Amos Johnson, Russell Johnson and Ricky Johnson.
Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Saturday September 20th, 2025, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday September 21st, 2025, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Steve Warner and Bro. Rodney Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Caney Fork Cemetery.
