Curtis “Curt” Alfred Hibpshman, Sr., of Liberty, KY, formerly of California, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY. He was 76.

Born on September 23, 1948, in Madera, California, he was a son of the late James W. and Lenore Olson Hibpshman. Curt was a self-employed general contractor and carpenter for many years. He was the General Foreman for the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, impressively finishing the project six months early and was later on the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino project in Las Vegas, Nevada. Curt was also a volunteer Fire Captain with the Mt. Bullion CA Fire Department and worked for the Department of Forestry, as well.

He was raised and lived in Mariposa, California for seventy-four years. Curt was of the Christian faith and was a very charismatic man. He was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, rockhounding, and hunting for gold. One of his most famous quotes if you had done well was, “You’re worth a million bucks, all green and wrinkled!”

He is survived by his sons, Curtis A. (and Mindi) Hibpshman II of Liberty, Albert J. (Jeanette) Hibpshman of South Carolina, Dale A. Hibpshman of Ohio, and Jason C. Hibpshman of Liberty; daughters, Lisa D. Wright of Texas, Lana E. Hibpshman of California, and Elizabeth L. Hibpshman of California; twenty grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Hall; second wife, Julie Hibpshman; and his most recent companion of over twenty years, Raylene Hammonds; two brothers, Frank J. Hibpshman and Thomas L. Hibpshman; and a sister, Carol L. Mitcham.

Cremation rites were honored. Memorial rites will take place at a later date at Mariposa County Cemetery in California.
