CAROL SIMPSON

 

Carol Lynn (Hoskins) Simpson of Danville, KY passed away September 4 th , 2024, at Ephraim
McDowell Regional Medical Center.

 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mike Simpson, 2 sons Matthew (Sarah Bell) Simpson of Sadieville, Kentucky and Luis (Sarah) Simpson of Danville, Kentucky, one sister Jill (Kevin) Spaw of Liberty, Kentucky, one brother in law Ricky Walls of McKinney, Kentucky, 2 grandchildren Eli and Olivia Simpson, a special family Douglas, Deborah, Marcos, and Elias Taquira of Danville, Kentucky, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

She is predeceased by her parents Boyd and Lela Hoskins, one daughter Michelle Simpson, and a sister Fran Walls.


Carol was born in Lincoln County Kentucky on May 5 th , 1954. Carol studied nursing at Danville
School of Practical Nursing where she earned her LPN in 1973. She married Mike on December
15, 1973. They lived in Bowling Green, Louisville and Hustonville, Kentucky before settling in
Danville. Carol worked several nursing jobs before working at Kentucky School for the Deaf
where she worked first as a teacher’s aide and then as a nurse. She loved nursing and formed
many special bonds with those she cared for over the years. She retired in 2012.
Carol was a quilter, crafter, scrapbooker, basket weaver and gardener. She constantly created
many treasured heirlooms over the years. She was a lifelong member of South Fork Separate
Baptist Church.


Bartle Funeral Home of Liberty is handling her care. Visitation will be at Bartle Funeral Home
on Saturday September 7 th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and after 12:00 noon on Sunday at South
Fork Separate Baptist Church. Funeral will be at South Fork Separate Baptist Church on
Sunday September 8 th at 2:00 pm. Bro. Troy Coffey, Bro. Casey Davis, and Bro. Chadwick Noel
officiating. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery.


Pall bearers will be Derek Walls, Kasey Walls, Nathan Spaw, Carrie Willoughby, Jessica Snow,
Amos Jared Reid, Chadwick Noel, and Kasey Webb. Honorary pall bearers are the members of
her quilting groups, The Pieceable Friends, The Sassy Stitchers, and The Sewing Friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the South Fork Separate Baptist Church or
South Fork Cemetery.
