OBITS

CHERYL ROY

Cheryl Ann (Dunham) Roy was called to Heaven on Wednesday September 6th, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends due to complications from cancer. She was 65 years old.

Cheryl was born November 9th, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of William Harold Dunham and Janell Frances (Cornett) Dunham. She had one sibling, a sister, Lavonda Gail Adams. Her parents and sister all preceded her in death.

Cheryl was a 1975 graduate of Pulaski County High School in Somerset, Kentucky and a 1989 graduate of Somerset Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy.

After graduation from high school, she married Roger Dale Roy of the Teddy Community on November 14, 1975, moved to Casey County and started a family. They were married 36 years until Roger preceded her in death in 2011. They had one child, a daughter, Tanya Ann Roy, born March 5, 1977. She also preceded Cheryl in death in 2020.

Cheryl was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her daughter and grandson and embraced every possible moment with them. She loved life and had many hobbies. She had a vivacious personality and always made people laugh. She made friends wherever she went and no one was a stranger. She most enjoyed making those around her happy and seeing others prosper. All close to her loved her dearly and will never forget her wit and undying love for them. She was known for her knack for telling it like it was.

Cheryl is survived by her grandson Hayden Michael Abston, his wife Haley, and a great granddaughter Ellie of Liberty, Kentucky; a nephew Michael Adams of Eubank, Kentucky; a great nephew, Corey Adams of Covington, Tennessee; and many cousins, neighbors, and beloved friends.

As Cheryl never wanted to be separated from her family, her only dying concern was that her beloved grandson Hayden, and his wife Haley, join her in Heaven someday, she prayed fervently for this. She will be laid to rest in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg, Kentucky alongside her husband and daughter following this service.

Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Monday September 11th, 2023 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 12th, 2023, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Ricky Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in the Double Springs Cemetery.
