Mary Lynn Hurt, age 88 of Somerset, Kentucky went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2021 surrounded by her family at the Jean Waddle Care Center at lake Cumberland regional hospital following a long illness.

Mary Lynn was born on August 5, 1933 in Fonde, KY to parents Elbert and Mable Huddleston. Mary Lynn is survived by her husband Gene Hurt, whom she married in Eubank, Ky on September 5, 1953; her children, Kim & ( Doug) Crouch of Somerset, Jeanne Sutton of Somerset, and Don Hurt of Somerset; her grandchildren, Ryan Sutton, Cody & (Jessica) Sutton, Logan & (Jenna) Sutton, Shaun & (Haley) Dick, Hilary Dick, Donovan Hurt and Devan Hurt; her great grandchildren MaKayla Dick, Riley Hatfield, Oakley Dick, Camden Cowan, and Fern Sutton; her niece Andrea & (Randy) Dotson; and her nephew Scott Decker.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her mother in law Edna Hurt, her father in law Luke Hurt, her daughter in law Kim Hurt, her sister Janet Decker, her brother Verlin Huddleston and her brother in law Andy Decker.

Mary Lynn worked as a deputy court clerk in the Pulaski County Clerks office in the 1950s, but following the birth of her first child, she put her career on hold to become a stay at home mother. She was a dedicated mother, wife and always committed herself to raising her children and taking care of her family.

Mary Lynn enjoyed reading, playing the card game, bridge, cooking and was involved in her children’s school functions. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a kind and giving person who donated to multiple charities and helping the less fortunate in her community.

Mary Lynn was also a dedicated Christian and servant of Christ. Her conservative beliefs were the foundation she used in raising her children. She taught them the value of hard work and education to get ahead in the world.

Mary was well liked by anyone who met her and had a kind disposition and personality. She was always the voice of wisdom that her children and many of their friends looked to for advice during trying times in the lives. Her gentle soul will be missed by her family and friends alike but her memory will continue on throughout their lives.

Funeral services for Mary Lynn Hurt will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home on Thursday, November 4th with family at 10:00 and visitors will be accepted at 11:00 AM. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Glenn Cox officiating. Burial will be at Somerset Cemetery.
