BILL HAMILTON

William Lee “Bill” Hamilton, age 64, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

Bill was born on July 24, 1957 in Somerset, KY to the late Glen Robert Hamilton and Betty Faye Shelley Hamilton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset.  Bill was known as a high school and college athlete, in both baseball and soccer. In 1974, he was part of Somerset High School’s baseball team that won the school’s first State Championship in the modern era. Bill was a former SHS and PCHS Head Soccer coach and former Somersport Soccer coach.  In 2003, he led the girls’ soccer team to four consecutive winning seasons. He helped start the swimming (Hurricanes) and archery program at SHS. He was one of the greatest cheer dads of his time. More importantly, he raised two great kids as a single father and was always willing to help people when he could and did without any wanted recognition.  He would try and help support all three schools in a variety of ways, helping their clubs or organizations.  Bill was a true philanthropist in Pulaski County.  He may not have always agreed with you but he was always honest.

He is survived by a son, William Samuel Hamilton and his wife, Samantha, and their son, Cody of Portsmouth, VA; a daughter, Tesa Gabrielle Hamilton of Louisville; a nephew, Lucas Hamilton and his wife, Caroline of Knoxville, TN; one great-niece, Mary Stewart Hamilton; a great-nephew, Hank Hamilton; and a special friend who was like a daughter, Angie Davis of Somerset;

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; and one brother, Robert “Bobby” Hamilton and a sister, Glenda Faye Hamilton.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at First Baptist Church.

A Memorial service will follow on Saturday at 6:00pm at First Baptist Church. Refreshments and snacks will be provided at The Bridge of the church following the service.
