DONALD PHELPS

 

Donald Phelps, age 73, of Science Hill, KY., passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at UK Chandler Hospital in Lexington, KY.

 

Donald was born on March 5, 1948 in Somerset, KY., to the late Charlie Phelps and Augusta Merritt Phelps. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a Veteran of the United States Army.

 

He loved working outside and enjoying God’s creation. Donald was a dedicated husband and family man. His favorite thing to do was watching his grandchildren play sports.

 

He is survived by his wife, Cheria Walker Phelps, whom he married on February 14, 1987 in Science Hill, KY; a son, Dustin Eric (and Melissa) Phelps of Somerset, KY; two stepsons, Kenneth Matthew (and Vanessa) Brewster of Lake Havasu, AZ; and David Aaron (and Amelia) Brewster of Somerset, KY; a stepdaughter, Brittany (and Michael) Steward of Columbia, SC; one brother, Ronald (and Gloria) Phelps of Somerset, KY; one sister, Robin (and Roy) Stubbs; sixteen grandchildren, Noah Phelps, Jacob Phelps, Samuel Phelps, Scott McAllister, Ryanne Gray, Jessica Mallette, Jeremy McAllister, Jason Vaught, Jessica Vaught, Justin Vaught, Jacey Brewster, Josie Brewster, Nathaniel Steward, Sophia Steward, Caleb Steward, and Eliana Steward; ten great-grandchildren, Conrad, Rowan, Otzlee, Harvey, Tilley, River, Alexus, Colton, Layla, and Easton; three nephews, Kenny Warner “Junior”, Jeff Warner, and Jamie Warner, and two nieces, Amanda Britt and Cierra Brettnacher.

 

Along with his parents, Charlie and Augusta Phelps, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kaeden Vaught and one sister, Brenda Warner.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

 

His funeral service will follow on Thursday at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Corey Meggs officiating.

 

Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Gideon Bible Memorial Fund.
