OBITS

JERIANN BERRY FALLS

JeriAnn Berry Falls, of Elkhorn, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021, at her home. She was 79.

Born on April 22, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Enos Earl and Evelyn Swisher Berry.

JeriAnn grew up in the rural town of Fairdale near Louisville, Kentucky. In her early life, her two greatest passions aside from her family were children and horses. Following her passion, she raised and trained horses for several years. She had quite an affinity to help children in need. She was one of the earliest participants and founders for Therapeutic Horseback Riding for Handicapped Children in 1972. She was also an initial organizer in the Riding for Hope program affiliated with the Kentucky Horse Park.

She obtained an Associate Degree in Mental Health Therapy, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Kentucky, and her Master’s Degree and Rank 1 in Education from Western Kentucky University. JeriAnn taught 5th grade in Marion County, Kentucky, for many years, having last taught at Glasscock Elementary School in Lebanon.

JeriAnn was an adventurous person that had a passion for traveling, leading to her visiting most parts of the United States and many foreign countries. Her mission throughout her life was to serve God and to serve others. Always a faithful presence, she was a member of Pine Grove Community Church and taught Sunday School for decades.

JeriAnn met her husband Doug Falls in 1960, and they have since been inseparable for sixty-one years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Scott (and Sharon) Falls of Troy, Missouri, Tim Berry Falls of Liberty, and Matt (and Cathy) Falls of Elkhorn; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; and a sister, Dixie.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Pine Grove Community Church with Bro. Jeff Edwards and Bro. David Hicks officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Pine Grove Community Church as well as from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Thursday.

Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance.  Facial coverings ARE required.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Central Kentucky Riding for Hope Program at PO Box 13155, Lexington, Kentucky, 40583.
