George Paul Baumgardner, age 76, of Somerset, peacefully passed from this life in the privacy of his home on Saturday, March 13, 2021. 

He was born on October 27, 1944 in Corbin, Kentucky, son of the late Paul T. Baumgardner and Ethel Lawson Baumgardner.

Those who considered him as family or a friend called him Paul.  He was a retired self-employed Truck Driver.  He served his country in the United States Army and was proud of his rank of SP5. 

He also received a US Army Freedom Team Salute and Certificate of Appreciation for his dedicated patriotism and continued support of the Army family. He was married to Janet Ann Smith on April 12, 1986 in Somerset and they have enjoyed 34 years of marriage together.  Paul enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting and was a past member of the American Legion Post #38.  He was of the Baptist Faith and was a kind, generous and loving husband and father  He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife; Janet Smith Baumgardner of Somerset, three daughters; Melissa Jo Deaton of Indiana, Melissa Ann Johnstone of Frankfort, Kentucky and Tonya Sue Baumgardner of Somerset, Kentucky, a granddaughter; Corinth Kissten McKee of Somerset, and a sister; Sandra Baumgardner of Richmond, Kentucky as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 16 2021 in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Eric Barnes officiating.

Interment with Military Honors will be at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
