N.E. Oakes of Jabez, KY, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021.  He was 80. Born January 10, 1941, he was the son of Orvis and Icey (Carrender) Oakes. He married Joyce (Brummett) Oakes in 1963, and they were married 57 years.  They had one child, Tim, of Indianapolis (Tessa) and four grandchildren, Eben, Michael, Lucy, and Olivia.

He is survived by two sisters, Drettie Miller of Brownstown, Indiana and Sharon Brock (Ron) of Medora, Indiana.  Four brothers, Bill, Mervin, R.V., and Clyde, and one sister, Lucille, preceded him.

Visitation will be at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, KY from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 and also from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, March 5, 2021 until services at 11:00a.m.

Burial will immediately follow at Military Springs Cemetery, in Jabez KY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Camp Jabez Youth Camp or the Military Springs Cemetery fund in honor of N.E. Oakes.  Donations may be sent in care of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1441, Somerset, KY 42502
