Franklin Elmer Whitson, age 80, of Russell Springs, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after an extended illness. 

He was born on March 25, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late Walter Fred Whitson and Thelma Lingenfelter Whitson.  Franklin proudly served his country and is a retired United States Air Force Veteran.  He was of the Christian Faith and a member of the Southeast Christian Church for 35 years.  He Loved God, Family and his Country wholeheartedly.  He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Franklin is survived by his wife of 62 Years; Linda Redmond Whitson of Russell Springs, a son; David Whitson of Richmond, Kentucky, 2 daughters; Sheri (Eric) Foster and Amanda (James) Quisenberry of Russell Springs, Kentucky,  8 grandchildren; Erica Heath, Chris Foster, Shayla Whitson , Dylan Harrison, Zachary Foster, Savannah Whitson, Kadie Foster and Sydney Whitson and 1 great-grandchild; Piper Heath as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm (EST) on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Wilson Funeral Home, 391 E. Steve Wariner Dr. Russell Springs, Kentucky.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm (EST),  Inurnment will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.  

Family and Friends will gather for the wake at the Foster/Whitson home at 678 Robertson Road, Russell Springs immediately following the Inurnment.
