OBITS

FAYE TAYLOR MCQUEARY

Faye Taylor McQueary, formerly of Liberty, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, in Dallas, Georgia. She was 87.

Born on August 20, 1933, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Gather Clay and Hazel Gertrude Hayes Taylor. She was a long-time member of First Christian Church of Liberty, a member of the Casey County Chapter #30 Eastern Star, a member of the Liberty Museum Movement to gather historical information, and a long-standing member of the Casey County Homemakers Association. Faye was manager of Kinney Shoes for many years and won multiple awards for sales. She was a volunteer of the community and personally saw to the shut-ins of Tennessee Ridge in Casey County. She was an active cattle & crop farmer, accomplished seamstress, woodworker & skilled quilter. She was active in the Adopt-a-Highway-Keep Liberty Beautiful organization and an Election Polls Volunteer for many years, among other community efforts. Faye was a devoted caregiver for many friends & family members. More than anything, Faye loved to travel and as an Army wife she thrived on the many moves, transfers, and different cultures her family encountered.  She never met a stranger & just "talked louder" if they were not American.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Kartheiser (and Pete) of Acworth, GA and Jennifer Rousey (and Barry) of Liberty; a brother, Gerald Taylor (and Frances) of Knifley, and a sister, June Bell (and JC) of Louisville. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Scott Mercer (and Angie) of Andersonville, TN, Wayne Mercer (and Michele) of Douglasville, GA, Laura Carrigan (and Brian) of Eubank, Robert Taylor Rousey (and Marie) of Liberty, and Jenna Gail Rousey Walker (and Jake) of Bowling Green; and her great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Michael, Keira, Jaxson, Corbin, Paisley, and Ella June.

In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose Gerald McQueary, who passed away on May 7, 1996; her son, Alan McQueary; a brother, Larry Taylor; and sisters, Glenna Bryant, Imogene Davis, and Irene Lane.

Due to safety precautions and current restrictions the funeral service will be held privately for immediate family only. Rev. Josh Snyder and Rev. Homer Hecht will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Mercer, Wayne Mercer, Taylor Rousey, Jenna Walker, Kirsten Mercer, and Michael Mercer.

Memorial contributions may take the form of sympathy to First Christian Church of Liberty at PO Box 8, Liberty, KY 42539 or the National Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements for Ms. Faye Taylor McQueary are entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.mckinneybrown.com.
