Community members and local officials gathered Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at the Greasy Creek Bridge on Old U.S. 127 to celebrate the official reopening of the revitalized Greasy Creek Roadside Park.  

Hosted by the Russell County NexGen Civics Club, the morning ceremony marked the completion of extensive efforts to restore the historic park—famed as the spot "where the road meets the water." Improvements include upgraded picnic areas, refreshed landscaping, and improved facilities to serve both local residents and travelers.  

The revitalization was made possible through a collaboration between the Russell County NexGen Civics Club and Lake Cumberland Tourism. Organizers hope the refreshed site will once again become a favorite stop for outdoor recreation.
