A Casey County man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he fled from law enforcement and nearly caused several crashes.
According to a uniform citation, 37?year?old Daniel W. Cornett was involved in a hit?and?run Friday night on KY 1547, where another driver reported Cornett’s truck crossed into his lane and struck his mirror. The driver followed the truck and provided deputies with a license plate number.
Deputies say Cornett was later spotted on KY 1547 and refused to stop, reaching speeds of more than 120 miles per hour and driving on the wrong side of the road before finally pulling over on Casey Creek Road.
The citation states Cornett was slurring his speech, unsteady on his feet, and admitted he was drunk. A breath test registered .256.
Cornett is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, first?degree fleeing or evading police, and second?degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
