On Wednesday night shortly after 11 p.m., Casey County Deputy Austin Harris, along with Liberty Police Officers Adam Hewett and Ron Goodpaster, observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed toward Old West KY 70. Upon initiating a traffic stop, officers found the car sitting sideways in the roadway. The driver, identified as 39-year-old Dustin Walls of Georgetown, pulled into a grassy area but became combative during initial contact.
Walls claimed he was pursuing someone who had allegedly struck his vehicle, but officers noted signs of extreme intoxication—slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, imbalance, and a strong odor of alcohol. When asked how much he'd consumed, Walls admitted to drinking shots and Fireball whiskey. He then began shouting profanities, threatening the officers and their families, and refused to cooperate with field sobriety tests. Deputy Harris was forced to place Walls in his patrol vehicle due to his aggressive behavior.
Inside the car, officers found Walls’ wife, Carmen, visibly shaken alongside her three children. Carmen explained they had been making DoorDash deliveries in Lexington when a phone call from another male triggered Dustin’s rage. He verbally abused her and the children, locked them in the car, and purchased Fireball from a store. She reported that upon returning, Dustin threatened to crash the car and kill them, physically assaulted her, and destroyed her phone.
As Dustin sped through the area—running lights and reaching speeds of 100 mph—he reportedly assaulted a bystander who approached them in a parking lot. He only stopped when officers intercepted the vehicle.
EMS responded to assist Carmen and her children. Dustin was arrested and taken to Casey County Hospital, where he refused a blood test and continued yelling profanities. He was later transported to the Casey County Detention Center, where his combative behavior continued toward Officer Hewett.

- DUI with Aggravating Circumstance
- Reckless Driving
- Speeding (26+ MPH Over Limit)
- Terroristic Threatening (3rd Degree)
