Several people were injured, including multiple children, and one man is now facing several charges following a two vehicle crash.
On Monday around 5 p.m., Casey County Deputy Jacob Atwood responded to the scene of a head-on collision on KY 49, nearly 7 miles north of Liberty.
Kristen Snow was found lying in a ditch with six injured children nearby. The other driver, Troy R. McAnelly, 48, of Liberty, was sitting on a trailer with a suspected broken ankle. He admitted to possibly falling asleep while driving southbound. Tire marks indicated his vehicle had crossed fully into the northbound lane.
McAnelly’s eyes appeared bloodshot and constricted. He initially denied any substance use but later admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day. He consented to a vehicle search, which uncovered a glass pipe with suspected residue under his seat.
EMS determined McAnelly required air transport due to his injuries. He was flown to University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
He was cited for Reckless Driving, DUI – Aggravated Circumstance, Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree, Possession of Methamphetamine-1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, & No Insurance.
