A Connecticut woman was arrested Thursday after she made off with funds from a bank in Danville.
Danville Police responded to a theft at PBK Bank on Hustonville Road. A woman, later identified as Olivia Hobbs, 36, from Connecticut, misrepresented her identity and withdrew over $7,000.
Upon attempting another withdrawal, bank employees grew suspicious and delayed the transaction. Hobbs then grabbed the envelope containing the money and fled.
She ran behind Southland Shopping Center but was quickly apprehended by officers at Highland Court. Hobbs was found in possession of forged bank cards and fake IDs, and the stolen money was recovered.
Further investigation revealed she had been working with a group committing similar frauds in Kentucky and Indiana.
Hobbs was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, identity theft, and theft by unlawful taking. She was lodged in the Boyle County Jail.
