2 ARRESTED AFTER FOUND UNRESPONSIVE IN THEIR VEHICLE

Two people were arrested Sunday evening after being found unresponsive in their pickup truck.

Shortly after 7:30 PM, Deputy Jacob Atwood of the Casey County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from Lincoln County Deputy Ron Luster about two individuals passed out in a vehicle at the Dollar General at the intersection of KY 70 and KY 837. Deputy Billy Duncan also received a call about the same subjects.

Upon arrival, they found a 2001 Chevy Silverado with a female driver and a male passenger, both unresponsive with their heads slumped over. After knocking on the windows, both subjects became alert. The woman, identified as Brittany G. Boyer, 35, of Liberty, and the man, Shannon L. Erp, 43, of Eubank, had bloodshot eyes. Boyer had dilated pupils and appeared to have cotton mouth.

Deputy Atwood noticed a plastic container between Boyer's legs and requested consent to search the vehicle. Boyer consented, and as she exited, the container fell, revealing a plastic bag with an orange substance identified as suboxone and another bag with suspected methamphetamine. Boyer also had a silicon container with methamphetamine residue.

Erp informed Deputy Duncan about a pistol in the glove box, which was removed. Erp claimed the pistol was his and he had active warrants. Both subjects were arrested and transported to Casey County Jail.

Boyer was charged with public intoxication (controlled substance), possession of methamphetamine (1st degree), possession of a controlled substance (3rd degree), and drug paraphernalia. Erp was served with a bench warrant for non-payment of court costs/fees/fines.
