A Liberty man was cited for DUI Tuesday evening.
Around 7 PM, Deputy Tyler Luttrell of the Casey County Sheriff's Office was traveling west on KY 70 when he spotted a 2002 Chevy S-10 pickup with an unilluminated license plate heading in the opposite direction. Deputy Luttrell turned around, caught up to the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop near Delp Road.
The driver was identified as 46-year-old Brandon J. Halecki of Liberty, with Rodney Fair as his passenger. Brandon admitted to having a suspended driver's license, which was confirmed through dispatch. Rodney also had a suspended license.
Noticing Brandon's pinpointed pupils, Deputy Luttrell asked him to step out of the vehicle and inquired about recent drug use. Brandon stated he had smoked a joint earlier that morning. He agreed to a Standard Field Sobriety Test, which indicated he was under the influence. Deputy Luttrell then arrested Brandon and placed him in the patrol car.
Rodney arranged for a friend to pick him up. Brandon was taken to Casey County Jail on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked operator's license, DUI - controlled substance (2nd offense), and having an unilluminated rear license plate.
