A Casey County man was arrested on DUI charges over the weekend.
Shortly after 10 PM Friday, Casey County Deputy Tyler Luttrell was traveling on South 127 when he noticed a 2003 Ford F150 pickup come off Shugars Hill Road. When the truck passed him, he recognized the driver as Anthony Peyton, who he knew had a suspended driver’s license. Deputy Luttrell turned around and initiated a traffic stop on Randolph Street.
Upon making contact with Anthony, Deputy Luttrell noticed signs of possible impairment, and Anthony was not wearing a seat belt at the time. He admitted that his license was suspended due to a DUI, and he could not locate the insurance card for the vehicle, which he stated was not his.
Trooper Blaine Sharp arrived on the scene to assist.
After Deputy Luttrell performed the standard field sobriety test, he asked Trooper Sharp to conduct the Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (A-RIDE) test, to which Anthony also consented. However, during the test, Anthony became irate, accusing the officers of trying to look up his nose.
Anthony M. Peyton, 47, of Liberty, was arrested on charges of Driving on a Suspended or Revoked Operator's License, Failure to Wear Seatbelts, DUI, and No Insurance. He was lodged in the Casey County Jail.
