The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has disclosed that in the early hours of Saturday, Lebanon Dispatch Center was alerted to a shooting at a home located roughly four miles south of Raywick on Frank Lee Road.

Upon their arrival, Deputies discovered that 24-year-old Marion County Deputy Sheriff William Patrick Skaggs had suffered a fatal gunshot wound within his own residence.

Deputy Skaggs was officially declared deceased by the Marion County Coroner’s office and his remains were conveyed to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.

Kentucky State Police are handling the investigation.
