The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted just before 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in reference to a two-vehicle collision on US-127 (Hustonville Road) near Bonta Lane in Boyle County. The initial investigation indicates a 2004 Black Chevrolet Blazer, being operated by David Wiegand, 49, of Mackville, KY, was traveling north on US-127 and crossed the center line into the path of a 2004 Red Mazda, being operated by Austin Wethington, 23, of Hustonville, KY, traveling south.

As a result of the collision, Austin Wethington, 23, of Hustonville, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased on scene by the Boyle County Coroner, Erin Guerrant. David Wiegand, 49, of Mackville, operator of the other vehicle, was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Boyle County Coroner, Erin Guerrant.

Trooper Clayton Cooper is conducting the ongoing collision investigation. He was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police personnel, Boyle County Sheriff's Office, Danville Police Department, Danville EMS, Boyle County Fire Department, and the Boyle County Coroner's Office.
