A Liberty man was arrested after fighting with Officers.
On Monday around 2 p.m., Casey County Deputies responded to a domestic dispute between mother Jan Penix and her son, Daniel L. Elliott, age 31, in Liberty.
The incident occurred on Three Angles Drive, approximately 6 miles east of Liberty. Upon arrival, Deputy Jason Grider made contact with Ms. Penix, who reported that Elliott had struck her in the head four times and also grabbed her by the neck.
Mr. Elliott was sitting on the porch, and Deputy Grider instructed him to come off the porch and talk in the yard. Daniel refused, asserting that he wouldn’t leave the property. Grider informed Elliott that he was under arrest, prompting an expletive-laden response from Daniel.
When Grider deployed his Taser, Elliott pulled out the probes and hurled them at the deputy, using offensive language. Daniel even threatened to kill Grider and retrieve a gun.
Sheriff Chad Weddle arrived, and despite further Taser deployments, Elliott continued to resist arrest. Ultimately, officers had to physically force his hands behind his back.
Daniel Elliott faces charges including Assault-4th degree (domestic violence), Strangulation-1st degree, Terroristic Threatening-3rd degree, Disorderly Conduct-1st degree, and Resisting Arrest.
