LIBERTY WOMAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES FOLLOWING MINOR ACCIDENT

On April 8, 2024, Angela H. Thomas, age 45, found herself at the center of a police investigation in Liberty, KY. Officer Cody Roy and Deputy Jake Atwood responded to a collision at A&D vape shop, where they encountered Thomas. Initially, it seemed like a routine accident scene, but Deputy Atwood's keen eye noticed something amiss.

As Officer Roy engaged Thomas in conversation about the collision, Deputy Atwood observed her spit gathering in the corner of her mouth. Concerned, he asked if she had taken anything. Thomas attributed it to tooth glue, but Atwood remained vigilant. His suspicions grew when he noticed a lump in the coin pocket of her pants.

Seeking consent, Officer Roy requested to search Thomas's vehicle. She agreed, and Atwood inquired about the pocket contents. Thomas hesitated, claiming it was just quarters. But when she emptied her pocket onto the hood of her car, Atwood noticed her thumb still inside the coin pocket, guarding something. He insisted she reveal the hidden item.

Thomas's excuses shifted. First, it was a lint ball. Then, she claimed it belonged to her husband. But when Atwood retrieved the folded yellow post-it note, it revealed a plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance—methamphetamine. Thomas's protestations crumbled; she admitted the substance was indeed methamphetamine.

Angela H. Thomas now faces charges of Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree.
